2. FADE IN:
1 EXT. SUBURBAN STREET - MORNING 1
THOMAS ROSEBUD (17), average height, dressed in all black
shuffles down the street with his hands in his pocket and
hood up, looking down.
The neighborhood is relatively wealthy and high school
students can be seen doing multiple activities with their
hands.
PUNK music can be heard "through headphones."
CHAD DANIELS (18), is eccentric and wearing J. Crew clothing
and is doing an extensive handshake with CONNOR TUCKER (18),
an obvious jock wearing a baseball jersey and black crew
socks.
Chad & Tucker WAVE their hands excessively at Thomas.
Thomas pretends not to see them.
TIFFANY ROBBINS (16), FLIPS her blond hair over her
shoulder, giggling and wearing tight and revealing clothing,
while getting in the passenger seat of a gray Audi.
NICOLE LINDGREN (18), is driving the car with a pair of
aviators on, turning up a POP song on the radio that BLARES
over the sound of Thomas’s headphones.
Tiffany THROWS a light-bulb at Thomas who shifts subtly,
avoiding the object, hands still in pocket.
2 EXT. OUTSIDE OF HIGH SCHOOL - MORNING 2
A cluster of GIRLS touch each others hair, POINTING and
smiling at each others’ hair styles.
Thomas looks up at them and then back at his feet.
A group of BOYS are throwing a football around.
Thomas closes his eyes for one second, SQUISHING his eyelids
together tightly, trying to picture a better time while
walking towards the school.
Chad Daniels, walks up to Thomas and tries to give him a
handshake.
Thomas tries to shuffle past him but Chad stands his ground.

3. 2.
Thomas tries to pass him again but now Connor is also
blocking him with a group of BOYS joining him as well.
Thomas looks up and stares down Thomas intensely.
The standoff continues for a few seconds as all other
students standing around look toward them.
Chad TEARS OFF the cap from a water bottle.
Thomas starts slowly backing away.
Chad forcefully THROWS water towards Thomas’s hands, still
in his pocket.
Thomas (SCREAMING), backs away and SPRINTS towards the
school.
A LOUD ELECTRICAL SHOCK NOISE can be heard in the distance
as Thomas runs away.
3 FLASHBACK - EXT. ROSEBUD FRONT YARD - DAY 3
Thomas (age 4) RUNS through a sprinkler.
Electric SPARKS FLY everywhere as Thomas clutches his hand
and falls to the ground SHAKING.
END FLASHBACK.
4 INT. SCHOOL HALLWAY - LATE MORNING 4
Thomas is running through the hallway, PUSHING through
everyone.
5 INT. SCHOOL BATHROOM - DAY 5
Thomas runs into a stall and PULLS his right hand out of his
pocket.
His hand is an LED glove.
All fingers are lit in a variety of colors except for the
pinkie finger that is FLICKERING on and off.
Thomas grimaces, flicking at his pinkie finger.
Tears STREAM from Thomas’s face as he THROWS his iPod into
the stall door.

4. 3.
The IPod screen breaks and Thomas tries to pick it up,
flustered, still crying.
Thomas looks at his watch and runs out of the bathroom.
6 INT. SCHOOL CLASSROOM - DAY 6
MRS. STAGMYRE (57), a gloom looking woman, looks at Thomas
sternly, who is walking into the classroom late.
Thomas shuffles to his seat and sits down with his hood up.
Mrs. Stagmyre begins working out a math problem on the
board. She looks unhappy.
Mrs. Stagmyre turns and offers the chalk to Thomas who
hesitantly SHAKES his head no.
Mrs. Stagmyre insists.
Thomas walks to the board and takes his hands out from his
pockets.
The whole class whispers to each other and snickers at him.
Nicole holds her pinkie with her hand, faking a painful
face.
Thomas solves the problem and sits back in his seat, letting
his head FALL onto his crossed arms.
7 EXT. OUTSIDE OF HIGH SCHOOL - DAY 7
Thomas pulls his IPod out from his pocket and puts his
headphones.
FUZZY NOISES are heard, IPod is broken.
8 EXT. OUTSIDE OF THOMAS’S HOUSE - EVENING 8
Thomas’s house looks like the least expensive one on the
block.
9 INT. ROSEBUD LIVING ROOM - EVENING 9
Thomas walks into his house and past his siblings, LILLIE
(7), DAPHNE (12), and SKIP (4), who are sitting at the
kitchen table finger painting.

5. 4.
Skip, who idolizes his big brother even though Thomas is
always sad, holds up his green finger at Thomas and POINTS
at him, smiling.
Thomas manages a grin, but ignores Skip and walks to his
mother, JILLIAN (43), who is marinating a chicken for
dinner.
Thomas shows Jillian his broken finger and she leads him
into a the basement.
10 INT. BASEMENT - NIGHT 10
Jillian leads Thomas into the back room of the basement
where a wall of tools and batteries can be seen.
She WAGS her hand at Thomas, demandingly, yet also
sympathetically, asking for his hand.
Thomas hesitantly gives her his hand, knowing what’s coming.
Jillian grabs a pair of pliers and PULLS a wire out from
Thomas’s pinky finger. Thomas CLENCHES his teeth in extreme
pain.
Jillian INSERTS a new battery and makes a few adjustments.
The pinkie LIGHTS UP.
Jillian smiles and walks out.
11 INT. THOMAS’S ROOM - NIGHT 11
The Rosebud dog, BUGS (golden retreiver) walks up to Thomas
who is currently sitting on his hands.
Thomas goes to pet Bugs.
Bugs, seeing Thomas’s hands gets scared off and and runs
away.
Thomas frowns and looks down, seeing a newspaper on the
ground, which he picks up, focusing on an ad for a rave.
12 INT. ROSEBUD LIVING ROOM - NIGHT 12
Thomas walks out the door, Jillian and siblings seem
unaffected by it.

6. 5.
13 EXT. CITY - NIGHT 13
Thomas walks up to a building that seems closed.
He shows a large man in front of the door the ad from the
paper and the man opens the door for him.
14 INT. DIM PURPLE HALLWAY - NIGHT 14
Thomas walks down the hallway slowly, hands in pocket,
looking around.
Ravers wearing kandi and fuzzy boots and costumes are
everywhere throughout the hallway.
15 INT. RAVE - NIGHT 15
There are people everywhere and the crowd is BOUNCING up and
down as a DJ walks out on stage.
The DJ begins playing PORTER ROBINSON’S "SEA OF VOICES."
The crowd stares, hands in the air in complete awe.
Thomas’s fingers begin TWITCHING.
Thomas looks down at his hands that seem to be moving by
themselves as the music increases in volume and intensity.
Thomas’s fingers begin LIGHTING UP brighter; his fingers
TWIRL in exotic ways that make beautiful light images in
perfect sync with the music.
He begins TWIRLING faster and making more intense images as
the crowd begins to look at him, music still building.
The song DROPS and Thomas now has the whole crowd around
him, recording him on their phones.
Thomas is in his own world making designs in the air,
BURSTING like fireworks to the music.
Thomas is SMILING for the first time.
16 EXT. SUBURBAN STREET - NIGHT 16
Thomas is walking home, his hands now outside of his
pockets.
Kids can be seen from the outside of their homes watching
Thomas’s video online.

7. 6.
Thomas pulls up YouTube on his phone and goes to a video of
him gloving that already has almost a million views.
Thomas grins.
17 EXT. SUBURBAN STREET - MORNING 17
Vans pull up to every house on the block as packages are
being delivered.
EDM of all types is being BLASTED from homes and cars as
excited students open up the packages, revealing pairs of
LED gloves.
Thomas walks out of his house, seeing everyone around him
trying to glove.
As he walks to school, everyone he sees smiles and waves to
him as if he is a celebrity.
Chad is seen trying hard to get his gloves to work, but the
pair he received is defective.
18 INT. STAGE - NIGHT 18
A DJ walks out on stage.
Thomas walks out next to him, hands out in the open.
The DJ presses a button and "PARADISE" by DYRO and TIESTO
begins playing.
Thomas begins gloving, his smile illuminating the crowd.
19 INT. ROSEBUD LIVING ROOM - NIGHT 19
Jillian is sitting at the dining room table with a newspaper
in front of her.
The headline reads, "Local Boy Dazzles the World with Light
Show."
Jillian SMILES as a tear falls from her face.

8. 7.
20 INT. STAGE - NIGHT 20
Thomas SMILES hugely as the crowd is revealed as absolutely
massive, all watching him.
FADE OUT
