Death on Facebook. Mourning and memory as a prosumer activity - Piergiorgio D...cyborgology

This document discusses the possibility of using computational drug design for neurological disorders. It summarizes research showing that microtubules in neurons may function as quantum computers capable of vast information processing and storage comparable to the human brain. Various neurological diseases like Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and ALS involve disruption of microtubule structure and function. The document proposes that stabilizing microtubules through drug design could help treat and prevent neurodegeneration in these diseases. It reviews evidence that general anesthetics may interact with and alter microtubules, influencing memory formation and consciousness. Overall, the document argues microtubules are promising targets for computational drug design approaches to neurological disorders.
This document summarizes a tax case, HMRC v Pawson, regarding whether a furnished holiday let business qualified for inheritance tax business property relief. The key points are:
1) The Upper Tribunal denied relief, overturning the First-Tier Tribunal, finding the services provided were "no way near" sufficient.
2) While there is a spectrum of land-based businesses and no presumption either way, case law establishes letting land amounts to "holding investments", which does not qualify for relief.
3) This suggests other furnished holiday lets face an uphill battle to qualify unless significant services are provided. Hotels, B&Bs, and businesses clearly distinct from land rentals should still qualify.

uneet Puri was hooked to a life in the outdoors ever
since her father took her rock climbing at the age of 5.
Trekking and climbing have been a passion with her
and she has been trekking the Uttarakhand Himalayas since her
school days. She has also trekked in Nepal. She is something of
a dare devil and to challenge herself she often treks solo.
G
hashi Bahuguna has been an avid trekker and climber
most of her life. She is almost a mountain goat, having
grown up in a Kamouni Village and having spent her
childhood in the arms of the mountains. She met Anusha and
Guneet on an expedition in the Himalayas. She too treks solo or
Alpine style when the mood takes her. She is also a trained
rescuer.
S
nusha Subramanian, an award winning journalist,
started her trekking career in the Sayadri ranges at
the tender age of 7 and had covered most of it by the
time she reached her teens. She started walking the Himalayas in
2006 and has trekked across all 5 Himalayan states. She has also
trekked extensively abroad.

3. The Bohemian Way
ur philosophy with regards to BA is simple, "of the
mountains, for the mountains and by the mountains".
We view the mountains as our home and as we do what
we do best here, climb and trek, we also aim to give back to our
home by providing a sustainable economic scenario to its
residents.
As far as possible we try to provide our clients a glimpse into the
lives of the mountain folk, their culture and traditions with home
stays along our trek routes.
Our vision for the years to come includes the promotion of women
in the sport of mountaineering both as team leaders and guides.
We also hope to lead by example by having stricter and more
stringent safety and environmental guidelines implemented in the
Himalayas.

5. Of rolling meadows, quaint tals and spectacular views:
Barsu – Barnala
The path leading away from Barsu towards Barnala takes one right across the
village of Barsu and climbing up affords the trekker panoramic views not just of
the village below but also of the mountain range ahead in the distance. It is a
view out of a fairytale, of a village quite literally nestled in the lap of snow clad
mountains.
The rest of the way up to the camp in Barnala is wide and in the autumn covered
like a blanket with golden leaves. In the winter the blanket is that of snow a pure
white sugar like carpet that is nothing but welcoming. The way is also completely
surrounded by a forest. Also on the way is a pretty little tal called the Barnala Tal
that gives the camp site its name.
The Trek
6. Barnala – Dayara Bugyal – Bakra Top – Barnala
From Barnala all the way up to Dayara Bugayal we move away from the tree line
and start walking on the gentle slopes of the bugyal (meadow). Powdered slopes,
ever inviting and alluring, underneath your feet and gigantic Himayalan peaks up
ahead keep your eyes fixed on them, making the journey to the top seem light
and breezy. The effort of climbing up is forgotten as your senses are already
overwhelmed by the beauty and splendour around them.
The climb up to Bakra Top also continues in the same vein. The only thing that is
different is the way you forget to breathe as you reach the top and see the sight
in front of your eyes. There are those who forget to breathe, others who are
surprised to find tears rolling down their cheeks; quite unexpectedly. That is the
effect that the Himalayas can have on you, unearth your deepest emotions and
lay them bare at their feet.
