The second half of the story
• Keith Haring died a year after he painted the
wall, in 1990. He died of AIDS.
• In 1993, the wall (and the whole block) was
demolished by Ajuntament de Barcelona.
• A luxury hotel and the new Filmoteca were
built in its place.
• Last week, 25 years after Ajuntament de
Barcelona demolished the wall, Haring’s mural
was painted again.
• Now the mural is next to MACBA (Museum of
Modern Art).
