Dawn of the dead
1.How are the titles edited with music/sound/shot types - think about the pace of the edit?
During the dramatic events taking place in the short clip of the film, the music went pretty well
together with the non-diegetic sound. However it was quite in-between the cuts, the way it changed
very often and dramatically. I could see almost blood and gruesome images for each cutaway.
2.How do the titles reflect the narrative/themes/genre of the Film?
The word dawn relates to the diseased, zombies that have come alive and are emphasising it’s a
horrible beginning, that will spread terror because of the word “dead” in addition, the theme is a
basic sci-fi horror. It shows resistance like the army to reflect that the narrative will go on for quite a
while of how to fight back and if they have hope.
3.How is music and sound used in the film opening - remember silence is sound
Surrounding sound amplifies that through the scary and tormenting moments it’s showing the irony
of how people are dying and its playing happy music.
4.What iconography is used and how is it used to develop genre?
5.How is the narrative established - if you had to sum up the 'story' in sentence what would it be?
For each film come up with a sentence that is snappy and sums up what you think the film is about.
That the apocalypse had started a selected amount of people were to survive this tragic matter.
6.Does the Film opening contain enigma codes - give some examples of these.
How will they fight back? With weapons to show the audience they are fearless?
How was it created?
Does this have to do with your genetics because of the symptoms?
Is it in the air, if so how was it released?
Who are the main characters, will they survive?
7.If the film introduces the main character how does the director develop the characters that we
see? Explore the use of mise en scene, cinematography and editing to establish character.
The setting of the place is all over the world, a Muslim country, America; I think Britain and most
likely other places the props used where blood and definitely a lot of make up for the zombies like
humans to kill the main characters off one by one.
