Dear Sir/Madam
APPLICATION FOR EMPLOYMENT
I have just completed my three year BSC degree studying occupational safety and health at the University of
the West of Scotland. I am an affiliate member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health;
however I have applied for my membership to be upgraded to graduate. I am 29 years old. Before my
studies I was a CNC (Computer Numerical Control) programmer for 6 years. I am highly motivated which I
have shown with managing to get my placement with AMC Safety for 6 months during my studies. Also I am
reliable, a fast learner and I am the type of person who is continuously looking to improve my skills and
take advice on board from people to help me grow as a person and in my professional career. I am
extremely hard working and highly driven to pursue what I want in life. I have shown this by giving up my
full time job as a CNC programmer to go back and study as a mature student. I wanted to get into health &
safety and I have worked hard to overcome any obstacles that has been in my way including having to go to
college to do an access to science course which included; Chemistry, Human Biology, Physics, Maths and
English. Now that I am finished my BSC Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, I am looking for the
opportunity to get a job within Health & Safety. I believe that I would be an asset and that I have the skills,
drive, determination and commitment to help with the continuous improvement of health & safety within
any industry.
Yours sincerely,
David Adam Taylor
Encl.

4. INTERESTS
As a sociable person, I enjoy spending time with family and friends and have a keen interest in learning new
things formally or through experience. I also enjoy keeping fit and taking part in sports. I have an interest in
the environment and animals. Also I like to learn and experience different cultures and I have a keen
interest in history.
My interest in travel offered me a 5 week volunteering opportunity in Kenya. In preparation for this, I raised
£3200 through various fundraising events. As a team, we used the money raised to establish a community
medical centre. It was a rewarding and humbling experience. Last year I raised money for the stroke
association by completing a skydive which was a great experience. I plan on doing more to help charities in
the future.
