Dark Matter is a theoretical form of energy that is invisible to electromagnetic radiation. It was first proposed in 1934 to account for missing mass in the universe. Dark Matter is believed to make up around 25% of the universe and plays a major role in galaxy structure, though it contains no atoms. Dark Energy theoretically counterbalances the expansion of the universe and accounts for 73% of the universe, possibly driving its acceleration.
