Dr. Thom McCombs has studied Daoist internal arts since the mid-1970s under Master Share K. Lew. His training includes Qigong, internal alchemy, martial arts, energetic healing, and herbal medicine. He has led Daoist training groups in multiple US states and opened the Golden Elixir Temple in 1993. Dr. McCombs has visited Daoist temples in China with Master Lew and recovered the lineage poem of the Way of the Elixir system. He has published translations of Daoist texts and presented on various Daoist topics. 1. DAOIST INTERNAL ARTS
Dr McCombs began walking the Daoist path in the mid-1970’s as a pupil of
Master Share K. Lew. His curriculum included QiGong (energy work), NuiGong
(internal alchemy), GongFu (martial arts), NuiGongGeeLiao (Energetic healing), and
herbal medicine. He has led Daoist training groups in Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas,
California and Washington States. He opened the Golden Elixir Temple in Issaquah,
WA in 1993, and was admitted to the Academy of Abbots of the Taoist Sanctuary.
Dr McCombs has travelled to China twice with Master Lew, visiting his
ancestral village in Guangdong province, and his temple on Mt LoFa. There, he was
able to recover that Lineage Poem of his system, The Way of the Elixir (DaoDan Pai).
Dr McCombs has published his translations of Ancestor Lu’s 100-Word Steles
in the Journal of the British Taoist Association. He wrote the chapter on “Guiding
Daoists” in the book: “Spiritual Guidance across Religions”, edited by John Mabry,
PhD.
Dr McCombs has presented Daoist topics at the Taoist Gatherings in Oakland,
the Taoist Institute in North Hollywood, and the Interfaith Chaplaincy Program in
Berkeley. He remains active in the Academy of Abbots of the Taoist Sanctuary, and
was a featured presenter at the first Conclave of Abbots “Immortals Weekend” in
2016.

Dr Thom McCombs, the Ridgecrest Junction Way Teacher is
an osteopathic physician in private practice in the Napa Valley, CA. He
has trained Dao Dan Pai since 1974. He has published two translations
of Ancestor Lu Dong Pin’s teachings in the Journal of the British Taoist
Association. He was Abbot of the Golden Elixir Temple in Issaquah,
WA, from 1993 – 2001. He is the 9th member of the Academy of
Abbots of the Taoist Institute, Los Angeles. He has travelled twice to
China, visiting the Daoist temples of Mt LoFa where Dao Dan Pai was
taught to Sifu Lew by his teacher: Chen Poi, the Quiet Wind Way
Teacher.
