2. Volvo cars have always had a perception of being some of the safest
on the road. With this in mind I combined this brand association with
imagery that emphasised this value, whilst illustrating the attractive
profile of the car. A clean background maintained the focus on the car
and its surrounding safety bubble.

3. The aim of this packaging design was to make Jackson Ranch’s wines
stand out from the crowd. The brief was to create a design that was
unique and eye-catching. I based elements of the design around the five
pointed star, a strong link to its origins in the USA. I used bold colours
and silver foiling to create a label unlike anything else on the market.

4. Journey Magazine was initiated by Lifestyle Ford as a brand awareness
project. This publication combines beautiful photography with striking
typographic elements and vivid colours. This first issue was delivered
to over 70,000 households in Kent and Sussex.

logo progressed through many development stages before the final
version was presented. Negative space is used to incorporate a cursor,
a symbol that represents both the IT sector and the experience of
searching, and finding the right IT solution for the customer.

I
magine, if you can, a group of nomadic
tribespeople, digging a deep pit in a slope in
the ground, lugging piles of rocks into the pit,
then burning large amounts of wood for about
six to eight hours, letting the smoke out and
then enjoying the residual heat for the next 12
hours. This was, believe it or not, the origin of
the sauna, which was used not only to warm
the body, but also to cleanse the mind,
rejuvenate and refresh the spirit.
The history of steam bathing can be traced
back as far as the ancient Greeks. It was
subsequently adopted by the Romans, and in
Turkey the steam bath or “hamam” has
survived thousands of years. The practice
spread into Europe but in early days the
popularity of steam baths was limited by the
technical problems of regulating the
temperature. Today, though, developments in
steam generating technology have made it
possible to install steam baths and now steam

showers almost anywhere at a reasonable cost.
Today’s sauna rooms and steam rooms bear
little or no resemblance to those early “designs”
but the concept remains the same: water and
warmth are the basis for life, and bathing in a
sauna or steam room is now considered a
normal, regular part of many people’s routine.
The health and relaxation benefits are well
documented and people flock to spas,
boutique hotels and health clubs to enjoy
these. In design terms, the sauna in particular
has come a long way – no longer a wooden
box, almost any shape, size, colour or finish is
possible, and in keeping with today’s trend for
openness and spaciousness, the frameless
glass frontage has become very popular.

you rid yourself of the wooden box mentality –
clad the exterior in large format tiles, create an
interesting interior with blonde and dark wood
for contrast and place a mosaic mural on the

This piece was commissioned by Dröm to create a visually stimulating
advertisement/advertorial design for a world-renowned interior design
magazine. I liaised between Drom and the publishers to ensure the
design was in keeping with both the client brief and the upmarket
appeal of the magazine.

conversion rate of enquiries at a local group of Mazda dealerships. The high
proportion of customers using mobile devices required a redirection of the

Responsive website designed for Pure Baby Food, a business start-up,
promoting healthy, homemade food for babies. A mobile and desktop-
friendly website was essential due to a high proportion of consumers
making purchases on various devices.

10. Lifestyle Europe Automotive app. This redesign of the corporate app
for iPhone, helped to reflect the new branding of the company and
provide customers with easy vehicle search, valuation and comparison
features. The app helped to increase traffic to the company website,
the main source of enquiry.

Logo and stationery designed for an engineering company. In a
competitive marketplace, I wanted to give the brand an eye-catching,
intelligently designed and memorable logo. The shift of the dot of the
‘i’ to become the degree symbol next to the red ‘C’ is a clever play on
the symbolism of the various characters of the company name.

12. Closed gate fold booklet for Lifestyle Ford, promoting the dealer’s
63-plate new car offers. 75,000 brochures were printed and delivered
via a Royal Mail door drop. I was responsible for design, production,
print sourcing and budget control. This project gained an exceptionally
high ROI and expanded Lifestyle Ford’s market share substantially.

13. Email campaigns for Lifestyle Kia. This campaign produced the best
ever open rates for the brand, rising from a previous average of
24%, to 41% and 46% respectively, with click-through rates of up
to 13%. The success of the campaign helped develop new digital
marketing practices for the brand, including a warmer, more emotive
communication style.

14. Press advertisement for Stella Artois. This tongue-in-cheek design
illustrates the desirability of the Stella Artois product. The double-
entendre of the headline implies the perceived effect of the product,
as well as the literal sense that is illustrated in the action of the snail’s
inability to resist the drink, even if he must leave his shell behind.
