Daft Punk is an electronic music duo consisting of Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter from France. They met in 1987 while in school in Paris and formed their first band called Darlin' in 1992. After a bad review, they changed their name to Daft Punk and experimented with synthesizers and drum machines. Their debut single in 1994 was a hit and they became pioneers in the techno/house scene by incorporating elements of other genres. Their album "Homework" in 1997 sold over 2 million copies, cementing their success internationally.

It was distributed in 35 countries and sold over 2 million copies in just a few months. • They released a new single, ‘Around the World’ in April of the same year, which rocketed to the top of the European charts, and also became a huge hit in the American charts.

After two weeks of sale the album had sold over 1.2 million copies. • In 2004, they released ‘Human After All’ . • The next few years included greatest hits releases, and a mini worldwide tour, attracting crowds of around 35,000. • In 2010, the duo composed the soundtrack for Walt Disney’s Tron, in which they married synthesizers with a symphony orchestra.
