Depeche Mode was one of the first bands to create danceable synth pop tunes, releasing their first single in 1980. Their third single "Just Can't Get Enough" broke into the top ten in Britain and boosted sales of their debut album. Through the 1980s, their music took on darker tones and helped them gain popularity in the United States with their 1985 album Black Celebration. After personnel changes and issues for members, the band reformed in 2005 and regained prominence with their album Playing the Angel.
