creating blueprints and machine drawings to determine layout, assembly, and welding
operations; developing templates and other work aids to hold and align parts; assembling
according to specifications, using straightedge, combination square, calipers, and ruler.
• Supervised welding projects inclusive of financial project material needs, cost, and profits for
the company.
• Fabricated and designed new and more efficient trailer and products based upon a
customer’s needs.
• Determining required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy,
geometry, and welding techniques.
• Connecting cables from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse, as
specified by engineer; tack-welding or welding components and assemblies, using electric,
gas, arc, or other welding equipment.
• Manually guiding electrode or gun along weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of
movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound
of weld, and size of molten puddle.
• Welding in flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead positions; examining weld for bead size and
other specifications; melting led bar, wire, or scrap to add lead or joint or to extrude melted
scrap into reusable form.
• Installing/repairing equipment, such as lead pipes, valves, floors, and tank linings; repairing
broken or cracked parts and fills holes; tacking assemblies together; chipping off excess
weld, slag, and spatter; positioning and clamping work pieces together or assembles them in
jig or fixtures; cutting work pieces, using powered saws, hand shears, or chipping knife.
• Removing rough spots from work pieces using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper. In-
depth knowledge of brake press and sheer equipment, including training welding teams.
• Selecting torch, torch tip, filler ford and flux, according to welding chart specifications or type
and thickness of material, cleaning or de-greasing parts.
• Supervising a welding team of 5-6 welders, observing tests on welded surfaces, such as
hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to
specifications; inspecting grooves, angle, or gap allowances, using micrometer, caliper, and
precision measuring instruments.
• Adept at performing routine maintenance on a wide variety of machines assisting in repairing
or replacing machines and calibrating larger pieces of equipment.
