[12] 8747 BioCoat-Z: Particle Film
Technology for Cacao
Pests (Year 1 of 2)
Chemically active pesticides are
residually present on food, in
water supplies, in the soil, and
that these chemicals may
interfere with animal growth and
development as well human
health. It is clear that new
paradigms are needed to control
plant pests in an economically
sustainable and environmentally
safe manner. One of the pest
management technology gaining
popularity is the Particle Film
Technology. This technology is a
combined synthesis of knowledge
on mineral technology, insect
behavior, and light physics as
they apply to pest control and
plant physiology. Particle film
technology was originally based
on kaolin clay made hydrophobic
by a silicone coating that was
originally developed for disease
General: To develop the particle film
technology for managing the
population of major insect pest and
diseases attacking cacao pods and
explores more the agricultural
benefits from zeolite. Specific 1. To
determine the best formulation for
zeolite as coating agent and as
carrier of BCAs and MCAs 2. To
identify the appropriate application
of the formulated particle film for
insect pests and diseases of cacao
3. To perform field bioassay for the
clay particle formulation for the
control of insect pests and diseases
of cacao 4. To determine the bio and

control in tree fruits. Kaolin is
known as non-chemical product
with insect repellent property and
included in the particle film
technology for pest management
program of many agricultural
crops. Particle films like kaolin
have been successfully used for
insect and disease management
in tree fruit and vegetable crops
as well as landscape plants. All
the particle films consist of small-
sized mineral elements, which
can affect insect behavior
through contact with treated
surfaces or by producing a highly
reflective surface. Particle films
action against insects may be
lethal or nonlethal (i.e.,
repellency or avoidance of
treated plants). Mortality results
from ingestion of mineral
particles, or desiccation through
abrasion of the cuticle or
adsorption by the cuticular
waxes. Thus far, knowledge on
the efficacy of kaolin against
pests of cacao is very little.
Amalin et al. (2015) reported
positive repellency of cacao mirid
bug on kaolin treated pods tested
in the laboratory. This result
warrants further study on this
technology on cacao pests
attacking pods aside from mirid
bug. Evaluation of the local clay
particles as efficient coating
agent from the Phase 1 of the
Cacao Pest Management Program
showed zeolite as comparable to
the surround, the commercially
available US kaolin for
agricultural use as coating agent.
Zeolite as a particle film will act
as a physical barrier to repel
insect pests as well as disease
inoculum. This technology is an
alternative to sleeving of cacao
pods with plastic bag, which is
being practiced by cacao growers
not only in the Philippines but
also in other countries growing
cacao. However, sleeving is
becoming unpopular because it is
very laborious and the moisture
produced by sleeving becomes
suitable to the growth of
Phytopthora, the causal organism
of black pod rot. Additionally,
plastic bags after harvesting
remained in the field, which
contributes to pollution. Farmers’
claim that it is added work for
them to collect and dsipose those
plastic bags. Thus, formulated
zeolite is a good alternative to
sleeving for the control of insect
pests and diseases of cacao.
Zeolite also found to be the most
efficient carrier of

against cacao mirid bug and

tests. The entomopathogen,
Metarhizium anisopliae, and the
microbial agent, Trichoderma sp.,
remained viable within a week on
the pods sprayed with formulated
zeolite with both M. anisopliae
and Trichoderma, which also
suggests the coexistence of
entomopathogen and MCA.
Formulated zeolite with MCA and
entomopathogen will address the
issue of surface coverage dilution
as a result of the natural growth
of the pods, which will create
open area without the zeolite but
stretching of the pod from its
growth will also spread the
reproductive part of the M.
anisopliae and Trichoderma to the
open uncovered area of the pod,
which can infect CMB or CPB if
they feed or oviposit.
Trichoderma can also inhibit
growth of Phytopthora inoculum
in the open surface.

Electrodialysis with
Bipolar Membrane for
the Simultaneous
Recovery of Cobalt and
Lithium from Waste
Secondary Batteries
(Year 1 of 2)
Driven by the concern that the
current resources of lithium (Li)
and cobalt (Co) could not suffice
the demands in the future,
shifting the focus to recycling
waste batteries is seen as a
viable option. At present,
industrial recycling methods like
pyrometallurgy and
hydrometallurgy are on top of the
list. However, the cumbersome
process of selective precipitation
and the excessive expenditure of
toxic reagents—as well as the
release of fumes—outweighs
their environmental impact. To
curb this underlying problem, the
team proposes to develop an
alternative, economically viable
method that addresses the
drawbacks of the current
recycling technologies. Instead of
selective precipitation, the whole
recycling method will utilize
electrodialysis as the forefront of
separating lithium and cobalt
from spent batteries. The process
involves penetrating ions through
a semipermeable membrane with
the help of electrical potential
differences. Specifically, an
aqueous solution containing the
Li and Co metal ions from spent
secondary Li-ion battery active
cathode material will be mixed
with hexacyanoferrate, forming
an anion complex with Co. With
the projected increase in e-
vehicles (and battery) sales, this
research anchored itself with

This proposal is in response to
the need of the Trading room
company that are involve in mass
production and processing of Ulva
meal for the local and export
market. The company has been
supporting several coastal
communities that rely on wild
Ulva collection as their livelihood.
The processed Ulva meal has
been already optimized as feed
additive for poultry and livestock.
However aquaculture production
is increasing and it is an
emerging market for feed
additives. Aquaculture sector is
also currently suffering from
production constraints that could
be improved by the application of
Ulva based products for improved
productivity. The proposal is
intended to develop bioactive
feed additive from Ulva meal. The
product will be optimized to
improve growth, feed efficiency
and breeding performance of
cultured Shrimp, Tilapia and
milkfish. A semi-purified Ulvan,

Northern Mindanao
(Year 1 of 1)
The ABAI Weavers Multi-Purpose
Cooperative (AWMC) or ABAI
weavers is a community-based
formal organization composed of
female and male weavers who
found the art of weaving on
traditional handlooms a lucrative
source of income. The Philippine
Textile Research Institute (PTRI)
proposes to enhance the
capability of the ABAI weavers to
improve and develop new silk
textile materials using twisted
silk yarns. PTRI’s available
machinery to process low to high
twist yarns positions AWMC to
lead in producing new wearable
silk fabric product lines that will
showcase their improved skills,
craftsmanship as well as the
efficiency of PTRI’s silk throwing
facility. The Institute’s
competence of having suitable
Bombyxmori hybrid silkworms for
the cocoon production hubs in
Northern Mindanao will secure
the cocoon material source. The
minimum 20kgs monthly raw silk
requirement of the AWMC will be
supported by the engagements of
ten (10) cocoon production hubs.
Securing the steady source of
cocoons will stabilize the supply
of the raw silk and silk yarn. The
project banks on PTRI’s silk
processing capability in Bicutan
and in Misamis Oriental to
facilitate conversions of the
cocoons to desired yarns at a
cost. The end goal of creating
new silk fabric product lines will
start from the availability of the
low and high twist yarns. This will
be coupled with PTRI's expertise
to work with the ABAI weavers in
the execution of fabric designs
using the PTRI technology of
weaving through 4-pedal loom
and of the technologies on fabric
finishing. The shared relationship
built between the two
communities of cocoon growers
and the silk weavers will
establish a model of integration
of farm to skin technology
application and the collaboration
that will mutually sustain the
economic goals of the two
communities.
General Objective: To develop

databases for parameters
required for the estimation of
maritime energy demand. The
databases will house data for
maritime transportation activity,
domestic shipping fleet
characteristics, ship operating
phase characteristics, individual
ship fuel economy, and route
characteristics among others. A
software that can calculate the
baseline energy demand of the
maritime transportation using a
bottom up approach will be
paired with the working
databases. The software will be
able to disaggregate calculated
results by ship type, by month,
and by operating phase. The
software will also be able to
incorporate different alternative
scenarios related to energy
demand and provide a
comparisson between the
possible effects of different
policies. Finally, guidelines and
best practices will be developed
for the routine collection of data
to ensure the completeness and
correctness of the working
databases. Project MEDIAnS will
be handled by the Intelligent
Transportation Systems
Laboratory and Dr. John Justine
Villar, the same proponent and
project lead that implemented
the Maritime Transportation
Information System (MARIS)
project in 2019 and the Port
Capacity Analysis and Route
Optimization for Local Maritime
Administration (PAROLA) in 2021.
General Objectives: Research and
develop a model and computation
module for maritime energy
demand. Develop a set of databases
for the parameters needed for
energy demand estimation for the
Philippine domestic maritime fleet.
Finally, develop guidelines for
maritime transport energy demand
data collection, localization and
verification. Specific Objectives:
Conduct research and devise
methodologies for calculating
maritime transportation energy
demand and (GHG emissions) and
develop a software that will utilize
the databases and perform bottom-
up calculations based on established
models to estimate the maritime
sector's energy demand (and GHG
emissions). Develop working
databases for parameters needed
for accurate monitoring, reporting,
and verification of energy demand
(and GHG emissions) of the
maritime sector. Conduct testing
and assessment for the results of

[34] 8508 PILOT TESTING OF
PACKAGING
TECHNOLOGY
DEVELOPED FOR
FROZEN DURIAN
USING LOCALLY
PRODUCED
PACKAGING
MATERIALS (Year 2 of
2)
Durian fruit is known for its
strong aroma and flavor and
exalted as the “king of fruits” in
many Southeast Asian countries
like the Philippines. The aroma,
flavor and taste of durian are
known best at the optimum stage
of ripeness. However, because of
the short ripening period of
durian 2-4 days after harvest at
storage temperature greater than
28°C, it is not easy for urban
consumers to eat it at the best
stage of flavor and taste. The
project partner, Rosario’s Food
Products and Delicacies and D’
Farmers Market Fruits and
Pastries Center are both family-
owned business established in
2001 and 1992, respectively.
They are manufacturers of
different durian products from
Calinan, Davao and have
collaborated with PTD in their
previous project. The companies
have frozen durian products that
are blast frozen and vacuum-
packed using nylon/polyethylene
(NY/PE) pouch, with shelf-life of
3-4 months. However, the
packaging materials used are not
sufficient to prevent the
migration of aroma and flavor
which affects the market
expansion because of the
restriction in carrying into the
public, hotels, and transportation.
The Packaging Technology
Division (PTD) of ITDI developed
a packaging technology to
address the migration of odor
limiting the market potential of
frozen durian. The technology
involves the use of multi-layer
high barrier packaging materials
sourced from Japan and a
packaging technique. The
packaging technology/system
was able to keep the freshness
and aroma of durian intact inside
the package. Initial market
testing to Japan and Hongkong
was conducted and the results
indicated the high potential of the
product to penetrate the export
General: To pilot test the packaging
technology developed for frozen
durian using locally produced
packaging materials. Specific: • To
determine the performance of
locally produced high barrier
packaging materials in keeping the
freshness and migration of aroma of
frozen durian. • To conduct pilot
testing and establish the shelf life of
frozen durian. • To conduct
marketing and promotional activities
for frozen durian. • To conduct
training and technology transfer to
project collaborators.

frozen products, and expand the
existing market of frozen durian.

Bagasse from Raw
Sugar Manufacturing
(Year 2 of 2)
The major by-products of sugar
production include sugarcane
bagasse (SCB) which has high
fiber content. Current research
efforts on SCB as source of
dietary fiber have been used to
support its wide use as an
additive to a wide range of
products such as cookies, fiber
powder, beverages and
nutraceuticals. This project will
test the application of these
techniques to the actual needs of
the sugarcane milling industry
which requires the selection of

and optimization trials, the
results of which will serve as
bases for the design of
appropriate systems for the
utilization of SCB. This study will
look at the technical aspects of

by-products which is beneficial to
the user as well as to the
environment. The System for
Plasma-assisted Ablation of
Residues and Cleaning of
Surfaces (SPARCS) project is
envisioned to address the
growing needs of the cacao
processing industry by providing
an alternative cleaning technique
of the vessels and mixers used in
the production of their goods.
The use of a plasma-based
cleaning technology will give an
advantage to our local food
processing industry and will
remain competitive.
The objective of this project is to
address this problem and provide an
alternative dry cleaning solution
that does not involve any liquid
process through the use of
atmospheric pressure plasma. The
proposed solution does not only
solve the cleaning problem but also
provides an alternative method to
also sterilize the production
equipment surfaces during cleaning
vis-a-vis the current process of heat
sterilization after rinsing. Ultimately,
this can drive the process OpEx and
time to clean significantly lower. The
specific objectives of this project are
the following: 1. Develop an
atmospheric pressure plasma
system optimized for (1) removal of
materials from surfaces and (2)
sterilization of cleaned surfaces. 2.
Effectively remove or displace
materials, in this case food residue,
from surfaces. 3. Effectively sterilize
the surfaces exposed under the
atmospheric pressure plasma. 4.
Train at least 5 researchers or
personnel on technical topics such
as plasma technology, material-
surface interaction, food processing,
etc. 5. Collaborate with industry
partner on the development of the
plasma system and other research
activities. 6. Disseminate research
output in scientific conferences,
journal publications, and student
theses. 7. File disclosures resulting
from technologies, systems,
processes, and developments
accomplished from the project.
The output of this project
will directly benefit the
food industry, especially
food powder
manufacturers, such as
our industry partner and
other related companies,
dairy product
manufacturers, beverage
companies, etc. Industrial
service using the
technology from the
project output can be
offered after the project
completion. This project
will indirectly help our
local farmers thrive
through their partnership
with FODC. Moreover,
expansion of this project
can be pursued to extend
its impact to the
healthcare sector for the
proposed sterilization
functionality of the device,
as well as to other
markets such as the
coating industry and
adhesive industry.

[41] 8742 The Cocoa-loca Project:
Development of
functional food
products and
ingredients from cocoa
bean shell waste (Year
1 of 2)
The local chocolate industry is
faced with the challenge of
addressing the waste problem
generated during the production
process. Around 18-35% of cocoa
bean shell (CBS) by-products are
collected as waste, depending on
the type of equipment used and
processing applied. This
translates to financial losses of
around PhP 1-2 million annually.
Hence, research interests are
geared toward recycling,
recovering, and/or upgrading of
by-products or residues from
plant food processing in order to
reduce the amount of waste and
maximize the potential of the raw
materials being processed. The
proposal is grounded on
established scientific data that
CBS contains a range of health-
promoting compounds, including
dietary fiber and phenolics. The
potential of CBS as an excellent
source of dietary fiber and
phenolics will be explored,
offering doors for the conversion
of a waste material into high-
value food products and
ingredients that are aligned with
the current in-the-pipeline
projects of Malagos Agri-Ventures
Corporation. The reintegration of
by-products to produce valuable
commodities or enhance existing
products are valuable efforts in
dealing with food waste and
providing healthier food product
options to consumers. As such,
the proposed work will be in
support of the third (good health
and well-being) and twelfth
(responsible consumption and
production) Sustainable
Development Goals of the United
Nations. The proposal will also
promote countryside
development and boost the
competitiveness of the local
chocolate industry in the global
market through food innovation
by leveraging on science- and
evidence-based strategies
General Objective: To utilize the
cocoa bean shell (CBS) wastes
generated during chocolate
processing in the production of
functional food products and
ingredients Specific Objectives:
Study 1. Effects of roasting
conditions on the antioxidant
properties and fiber contents of
cocoa bean shell wastes 1. To
determine the antioxidant properties
of CBS wastes as affected by
different roasting conditions; 2. To

Kaolin is known as non-chemical product with insect repellent property and included in the particle film technology for pest management program of many agricultural crops. Particle films like kaolin have been successfully used for insect and disease management in tree fruit and vegetable crops as well as landscape plants. All the particle films consist of small- sized mineral elements, which can affect insect behavior through contact with treated surfaces or by producing a highly reflective surface. Particle films action against insects may be lethal or nonlethal (i.e., repellency or avoidance of treated plants). Mortality results from ingestion of mineral particles, or desiccation through abrasion of the cuticle or adsorption by the cuticular waxes. Thus far, knowledge on the efficacy of kaolin against pests of cacao is very little. Amalin et al. (2015) reported positive repellency of cacao mirid bug on kaolin treated pods tested in the laboratory. This result warrants further study on this technology on cacao pests attacking pods aside from mirid bug. Evaluation of the local clay particles as efficient coating agent from the Phase 1 of the Cacao Pest Management Program showed zeolite as comparable to the surround, the commercially available US kaolin for agricultural use as coating agent. Zeolite as a particle film will act as a physical barrier to repel insect pests as well as disease inoculum. This technology is an alternative to sleeving of cacao pods with plastic bag, which is being practiced by cacao growers not only in the Philippines but also in other countries growing cacao. However, sleeving is becoming unpopular because it is very laborious and the moisture produced by sleeving becomes suitable to the growth of Phytopthora, the causal organism of black pod rot. Additionally, plastic bags after harvesting remained in the field, which contributes to pollution. Farmers’ claim that it is added work for them to collect and dsipose those plastic bags. Thus, formulated zeolite is a good alternative to sleeving for the control of insect pests and diseases of cacao. Zeolite also found to be the most efficient carrier of entomopathogen (BCA) and microbial control agents (MCAs) social impact of the particle film technology application commercialization  Cacao Traders/Processors/Food and Wellness Markets - More production of cacao and of good quality beans will place Philippine cacao industry high competitiveness in the international market.  Natural zeolite mineral producers - to produce high end mineral products specially formulated for its use as a coating material. This will increase its market potential locally and internationally.

The entomopathogen, Metarhizium anisopliae, and the microbial agent, Trichoderma sp., remained viable within a week on the pods sprayed with formulated zeolite with both M. anisopliae and Trichoderma, which also suggests the coexistence of entomopathogen and MCA. Formulated zeolite with MCA and entomopathogen will address the issue of surface coverage dilution as a result of the natural growth of the pods, which will create open area without the zeolite but stretching of the pod from its growth will also spread the reproductive part of the M. anisopliae and Trichoderma to the open uncovered area of the pod, which can infect CMB or CPB if they feed or oviposit. Trichoderma can also inhibit growth of Phytopthora inoculum in the open surface. At present, industrial recycling methods like pyrometallurgy and hydrometallurgy are on top of the list. However, the cumbersome process of selective precipitation and the excessive expenditure of toxic reagents—as well as the release of fumes—outweighs their environmental impact. To curb this underlying problem, the team proposes to develop an alternative, economically viable method that addresses the drawbacks of the current recycling technologies. Instead of selective precipitation, the whole recycling method will utilize electrodialysis as the forefront of separating lithium and cobalt from spent batteries. The process involves penetrating ions through a semipermeable membrane with the help of electrical potential differences. Specifically, an aqueous solution containing the Li and Co metal ions from spent secondary Li-ion battery active cathode material will be mixed with hexacyanoferrate, forming an anion complex with Co. Two parental lines (IP- Itim and IP-Khaki) and one commercial hybrid line (IP- Kayumanggi) were developed through years of breeding and selection through a research funded by DOST-PCAARRD. This new breed of layer type ducks is genetically superior to the traditional “Pateros” ducks. From 200 eggs, IP-Kayumanggi now produces 260 eggs per duck per year, 80% of which weigh 65g or more, which is the minimum requirement for balut production. Assessment of the production performance of ItikPINAS purelines is being done in commercial scale under the ITIK for LIFE Program that is being funded by DOST. With the benefit of raising ItikPINAS, a number of producers/sellers have emerged claiming to have ducks as good as IP, which they called Itik Pinoy. It is necessary therefore that the purity of IP be protected and conserved thru the establishment of certified IP multiplier farms that will cater the needs of the industry. One of the private duck farmers who participated in the implementation of the ITIK for LIFE program is Mr. Rene Ramos, owner of the RCR Egg Dealer and Balut Industry in Zaragoza, Nueva Ecija. He acknowledged the improved performance of IP in terms of productivity and egg quality and realized its advantages over the traditional Pateros ducks. He is currently using IP in his farm and is also selling day-old and ready-to-lay IP pullets to other duck egg producers. However, his current farm facilities and designs are not compliant to the layout and structures that are required of a duck breeding farm to ensure the purity and quality of the stocks that will be produced. Thus, facilities enhancement is necessary. Moreover, with the increasing demand for high quality duck eggs especially the IP- Kayumanggi, he needs to establish a sound breeding plan and renovate his layer duck houses to allow implementation of recommended breeding and selection practices to ensure a sustainable supply of high quality ItikPINAS in Central Luzon and other duck egg producing regions. Central Luzon and other duck producing regions. Specifically, the project aims to: 1. Improve the practices, structures and layout of RCR Farm thru implementation of better housing, recording and breeding and selection protocols; and 2. Capacitate farm personnel on proper recording system, and breeding and selection protocols for IP purelines production. producing regions, and institutions who wish to engage in duck egg production as well as domestic and institutional consumers. [34] 8508 PILOT TESTING OF PACKAGING TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPED FOR FROZEN DURIAN USING LOCALLY PRODUCED PACKAGING MATERIALS (Year 2 of 2) Durian fruit is known for its strong aroma and flavor and exalted as the “king of fruits” in many Southeast Asian countries like the Philippines. The aroma, flavor and taste of durian are known best at the optimum stage of ripeness. However, because of the short ripening period of durian 2-4 days after harvest at storage temperature greater than 28°C, it is not easy for urban consumers to eat it at the best stage of flavor and taste. The project partner, Rosario’s Food Products and Delicacies and D’ Farmers Market Fruits and Pastries Center are both family- owned business established in 2001 and 1992, respectively. They are manufacturers of different durian products from Calinan, Davao and have collaborated with PTD in their previous project. The companies have frozen durian products that are blast frozen and vacuum- packed using nylon/polyethylene (NY/PE) pouch, with shelf-life of 3-4 months. However, the packaging materials used are not sufficient to prevent the migration of aroma and flavor which affects the market expansion because of the restriction in carrying into the public, hotels, and transportation. The Packaging Technology Division (PTD) of ITDI developed a packaging technology to address the migration of odor limiting the market potential of frozen durian. The technology involves the use of multi-layer high barrier packaging materials sourced from Japan and a packaging technique. The objective of this project is to address this problem and provide an alternative dry cleaning solution that does not involve any liquid process through the use of atmospheric pressure plasma. The proposed solution does not only solve the cleaning problem but also provides an alternative method to also sterilize the production equipment surfaces during cleaning vis-a-vis the current process of heat sterilization after rinsing. Ultimately, this can drive the process OpEx and time to clean significantly lower. The specific objectives of this project are the following: 1. Develop an atmospheric pressure plasma system optimized for (1) removal of materials from surfaces and (2) sterilization of cleaned surfaces. 2. Effectively remove or displace materials, in this case food residue, from surfaces. 3. Effectively sterilize the surfaces exposed under the atmospheric pressure plasma. 4. Train at least 5 researchers or personnel on technical topics such as plasma technology, material- surface interaction, food processing, etc. 5. Collaborate with industry partner on the development of the plasma system and other research activities. 6. Disseminate research output in scientific conferences, journal publications, and student theses. 7. File disclosures resulting from technologies, systems, processes, and developments accomplished from the project. The output of this project will directly benefit the food industry, especially food powder manufacturers, such as our industry partner and other related companies, dairy product manufacturers, beverage companies, etc. Industrial service using the technology from the project output can be offered after the project completion. This project will indirectly help our local farmers thrive through their partnership with FODC. Moreover, expansion of this project can be pursued to extend its impact to the healthcare sector for the proposed sterilization functionality of the device, as well as to other markets such as the coating industry and adhesive industry. 07/01/2021 - 6/30/2022 1yr(s) UPD-DMMME 868,959.10 [40] 8739 Steel Manufacturing and Assembly for a Rapid Technology (SMART) in House Construction: Development of an Innovative CFS-based The research and development (R&D) work, therefore, that is being proposed is to establish a working plan on how LGS/CFS can be used as structural material in general building construction. Around 18-35% of cocoa bean shell (CBS) by-products are collected as waste, depending on the type of equipment used and processing applied. This translates to financial losses of around PhP 1-2 million annually. Hence, research interests are geared toward recycling, recovering, and/or upgrading of by-products or residues from plant food processing in order to reduce the amount of waste and maximize the potential of the raw materials being processed. The proposal is grounded on established scientific data that CBS contains a range of health- promoting compounds, including dietary fiber and phenolics. The potential of CBS as an excellent source of dietary fiber and phenolics will be explored, offering doors for the conversion of a waste material into high- value food products and ingredients that are aligned with the current in-the-pipeline projects of Malagos Agri-Ventures Corporation. The reintegration of by-products to produce valuable commodities or enhance existing products are valuable efforts in dealing with food waste and providing healthier food product options to consumers. As such, the proposed work will be in support of the third (good health and well-being) and twelfth (responsible consumption and production) Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. The proposal will also promote countryside development and boost the competitiveness of the local chocolate industry in the global market through food innovation by leveraging on science- and evidence-based strategies General Objective: To utilize the cocoa bean shell (CBS) wastes generated during chocolate processing in the production of functional food products and ingredients Specific Objectives: Study 1.
