Structural Analysis II
Spring 2017/2018
Term Project
It is required to make structural analysisusing both manual calculations and
software for the frame shown in fig. 1 below, respecting the following format:
1. Cover page
2. Table of Contents
3. Introduction:In the introduction state the following:
 General information about this frame and its usage
(where we can see such frames)
 The manual method to be chosen and its importance
(note that you are free to choose any suitable method)
 The software to be chosen and its importance (explain
the uses of this software and why have you chosen it)
4. Manual (Hand Calculations): perform the appropriate structural analysis,
and draw the necessary diagrams indicating the key values
5. Using the Software:
 Summary of the modeling steps (present all the
necessary input data )
 Mention any modeling assumptions that have been
taken
 Results to be presented (each group will present
different results in addition to the diagrams, so refer
to the table below and commit to the requirements)
6. Conclusions: Compare between the manual hand calculations and
modeling results. (state, if any difference between the results, the reason)
Fig.1 : The Required Structural Frame
Note that the supports at A and C are fixed, while it is pinned at B
The parameters and requirements for each group will be different
Criteria:
 The project mustbe typed
 The project should be submitted in both Hard Copy and Soft Copy
 A group of maximum 2 students is desired
 Adhere with the following distribution of group :
I. Group A: Students starting their First Name with Letters A or B
II. Group B: Students starting their First Name with Letters C,D or E
III. Group C: Students starting their First Name with Letters F,G or H
IV. Group D: Students starting their First Name with Letters I,J or K
V. Group E: Students starting their First Name with Letters L or M
VI. Group F: Students starting their First Name with Letters N,O or P
VII. Group G: Students starting their First Name with Letters Q,R, or S
VIII. Group H: Students starting their First Name with Letters T,U,V,W,X,Yor Z
Note: If two students within the sameteam have differentgroup assignment,
it is up to the team to choose which group projectthey want to do.
Here are the parameters that should be taken into account for each group:
