2. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Joined PARC/NARC as Scientific Officer on November 22, 1981, and was promoted to
Senior Scientific Officer on December 23, 1993 and to Principal Scientific Officer on
26-11-2009. As a whole, have over 25 years of in-depth experience in reservoirs
fisheries management and ecology, limnological studies of water bodies, disease
diagnostics, fish culture of indigenous and exotic species, and measurement of
biological productivity levels of various water bodies. Detail survey of Balochistan was
also conducted to see the prospects of fish culture. Worked as Project In charge (PI) of
ALP funded project titled, “Effect of pollution on fish and fisheries of rivers of Federal
area, Punjab and NWFP and PI of RADP funded sub project, “Disease diagnosis studies
in fish farms of Punjab province”. Worked as PI of RADP funded “Pilot project on Fish
Processing and cold chain” and developed fish processing unit at NARC. Presently
working as PI of two ALP and PSDP funded projects entitled, “Intensification of fish
culture by using different managemental inputs” , and PSDP project, “Establishment of
American channel catfish (Ictalurus punctatus) at NARC”. Also working as Program
Leader of Aquaculture and Fisheries Program (AFP) & looking after the post of Director
(Fisheries) at Animal Sciences Division, Pakistan Agricultural Research Council,
Islamabad
Total 28 research papers are published in journal of national and international repute.
TEACHING:
Taught a 4 credit courses entitled” Limnology and fisheries at Department of
Animal Sciences, Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad.
Teaching two courses “advances in aquaculture” and “Introduction to livestock
production” at PIASA, NARC, Islamabad.
Teaching experiences by delivering lectures of Applied Fish Culture to B.Sc
(Hons)-level classes in the Barani Agriculture University, Rawalpindi.
Also offered informal education to the fish farmers through electronic media
