1. Respondents to census were able to select more than one area of special interest so the total number of responses across all areas of special interest may be higher than the total number of respondents.
2. Specialty recommendations for England, Wales and Northern Ireland. In 2010 The Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland (ASGBI) recommended a consultant workforce ratio of 1:25,000 population and an overall maintenance of consultant surgeon numbers. These recommendations will vary depending on each sub-specialty.

1. Wide variation in the quality of Emergency General Surgery (EGS).
2. A huge clinical service - one of most common reasons for admission to a surgical bed.
3. ASGBI recognises critical need for dedicated clinical leadership of EGS -not simply the ‘on-call’ consultant.
4. Care of emergency admissions often takes second place to care of elective patients.
5. Clear and identifiable separation of delivery of emergency and elective care

Career Plans
I took part in developing a new method to operate
humeral shaft fractures which I presented in 2004 in
Graz- Austria, and I wrote an article in this field which
was presented in 2006 (see below). I established the
calcaneal clinic in the Al Ain Hospital and starting a study
of calcaneal fractures, I have a large series of collected
cases. I am interesting in severe calcaneus fractures
minimal invasive surgical management, which is unique in
the world and U.A.E.
