Experience 2011 – Present
In 2011 I moved to Almeria in Southern Spain and formed a new company LimeFresh
Website Design and Digital Marketing, www.limefresh.es.
My location provides me with an opportunity to provide very cost-effective solutions via
outsourcing from the UK.
I am conversant with the use of Facebook as a business tool and can integrate
Facebook functionality into websites I produce for my clients.
After a break from producing the CAD drawings as documented earlier I would like to
return to the CAD environment to compliment my other services. I have a separate
website for this which is www.cadspain.es.
2008 – 2011 FORMED OWN WEBSITE DESIGN COMPANY
• In 2008 I formed Webs Online Website Design, alongside the IT company, to provide
a “one-stop-shop” for my clients. I provided services to SME’s such as website
design, search engine optimisation and email newsletters.
• Decided to close the business due to relocation to Spain.
During the period December 2008 to July 2010 I also, with my wife, ran a business
which traded from a High St Town Centre premises which focussed on both Holistic
therapies and beauty treatments. We also closed this when we decided to relocate to
Spain, due to the hassle and financial risks involved with trying to run it from abroad.
2003–2011 FORMED OWN IT COMPANY
• In 2003 I left Millers Retail Design, because I was no longer stretching myself, I was
working within my limits and I needed a new challenge.
• I started my own business supplying computers (which I built myself) and all
associated hardware and software.
• I am proficient in Microsoft Windows and can diagnose both hardware and software
problems and I am able to repair these within recognized time frames.
• I provided maintenance contracts for clients who wish to have a fixed monthly cost to
cover all eventualities in terms of workstation or network problems.
2. Page 2 of 4
• I was an Internet Service Provider providing Broadband and Dial-up services to
businesses and residential users. I provided first level support for this service.
• I had a website which I produced myself offering all products and services available.
The site was constantly updated using Macromedia Dreamweaver
• I also produced monthly email html newsletters which I am able to assess in terms of
effectiveness by understanding the reporting features of the web based software used
to create and monitor them (Constant Contact).
• I had commenced the use of affiliate marketing strategies within websites and through
email marketing both to increase revenue streams and to encourage further business.
• I produced interactive CD-ROM’s which are used as a promotional tool for
businesses. These included any kind of documentation from text documents to
images, sound and video files, to PowerPoint presentations.
• I produced all my printed advertising in-house using Microsoft Publisher. This ranges
from single sheet flyers for individual offers to the company brochure which was a
multiple page booklet.
• I have many years experience of using Microsoft Excel for costings, invoicing etc
using formulas and linked worksheets / files.
• I am proficient in Microsoft Word for producing all types of documents.
During this time with the help of my partner I renovated two houses in Bolton and one
in the Peak District, for which I used my CAD skills and Project Management skills from
my previous employment.
1982–2003 MILLERS RETAIL DESIGN LTD
Millers Retail Design Ltd - overview
Millers Retail Design Ltd is a shop fitting company based in Manchester which went
through many changes in the 21 years I was there. I am proud to have been one of
those primarily involved in progressing the company to where it was when I left.
Network Administrator
• During the last 15 years of my time at Millers Retail Design Ltd I was solely
responsible for the company’s Information Technology, from sourcing, purchasing and
implementing new systems and procedures, to the day to day running of the network
and all associated hardware and software issues.
• Initially we started with a couple of stand-alone PC’s but this quickly grew, at the point
I left I was looking after a network of 19 computers connected to a dedicated server
running Windows SBS 2000.
JJB Sports PLC – Concept 2001
• During the first half of 2001 we invested heavily in Research & Development to
provide JJB Sports with a new shop fitting system.
• I was part of the design team that produced the overall look of the new equipment,
and subsequently put the theory into producing practical production units
• The third quarter of 2001 saw the integration of the new system into JJB Sports’ new
stores. We supplied all the equipment; JJB Sports’ successfully tendered shop fitter
would provide the labour.
• The new system would provide teething problems and my responsibility was to iron
them out, but having to act fast as the stores had deadlines to work to.

JJB Sports PLC - Sports Division
• We were appointed Main Contractor to carry out fast track refurbishment works to the
newly acquired Sports Division chain
• My responsibility was to oversee a total of around 75 refits, of which around 67 were
retail park units with square footages of between 10,000 to 15,000 sq. ft
• Our brief enlarged as the program progressed, but encompassed demolition,
partitioning, replacing the shop fitting system, flooring, lighting, plumbing, HVAC, and
sprinklers.
• My responsibilities were:
o to carry out a pre-start survey.
o produce working drawings showing both existing and proposed layouts for all the
none-contracted out disciplines listed above for JJB Sports approval.
o obtain all Planning and Building Control consents as necessary, liaising with local
Building Control Officers via site visits if required.
o order materials & arrange deliveries to site.
o project manager from start to handover dealing with all the usual anomalies with at
least one site visit during the works (longest period of works was 6 days start to
finish).
o post works site survey to snag any items necessary.
Matalan PLC
• My CAD experience paid off as we became involved with Matalan PLC who were at
the time in the initial stages of establishing a CAD facility.
• We became proficient in complimenting their CAD operators with our own CAD facility
(myself), which later became even more efficient with the advent of email, sending
drawing files electronically.
• At this point I installed ISDN2 to our premises (at this point the only alternative to dial-
up) to speed up transfer times, something which stemmed from my desire to have the
best IT infrastructure.
Company Director
• In June 1994 I became a Director of Millers Retail Design Ltd
CAD Operator
• My focus changed in that where previously there was myself and a colleague
performing identical functions, I relinquished most of the “salesman” side of my work
to concentrate on the practical side, my colleague vice-versa. This meant we both
dealt with the same projects but in different aspects.
Project Designer / Salesman
• Responsible for visiting site, taking measurements, producing working drawings (hand
drawn), calculating overall cost and selling the package to the client
• Later took an interest in the rapidly emerging IT market, investigating applications
which could help the business to progress.
• Took primary role in introducing Computer Aided Design (CAD) into the company.
Learnt the basics with Release12, progressing through to Release 14, AutoCAD
2000, & have experience of ADT 3.3
