Spike Island Arts Bridge
As part of a group study on Spike Island, a
new master plan was developed for the site.
Our master plan was subtle in comparison to
the other groups, choosing to enhance the
characteristics of the site as compared to
challenging the character of the site.
From the group master planning project, we
chose individual ‘mini master plan’ sites for
our final year project. I proposed the Spike
Island Arts Bridge which consists of the
performing arts, retail, dance studios and
exhibition space, bridging across the two
contrasting water bodies and edges of Spike
Island. Based on my analysis of different
urban spaces, the permeability of the design
was pivotal in creating social and
commercial value in the city.
