SUMMARY
An experienced bilingual engineer with a solid background in energy engineering within various organisations.
After working within the Environment Administration and Protection department for the Aosta council, is now actively
seeking a new role as an energy engineer within the energy, oil & gas or construction industries to enhance
transferable skills and strengthen organisational performance.
KEY SKILLS
Engineering skills: buildings energy performance assessments; DEA; heating loss and gain and ventilation
calculations; thermal insulation design; heating systems design; heating plant sizing; HVAC; energy consumption
metering; thermal plants maintenance management; passive acoustic requirements evaluation; combustion analysis
of thermal plants; energy auditing; sustainability; environment; mechanical engineering.
IT skills: excellent knowledge of the Microsoft Office package, engineering softwares (Autodesk AutoCAD), and
equipment softwares (Edilclima EC700, heating systems remote control software). Optimal use of Internet resources.
Language skills: Italian (mother tongue), English (proficient) and French (bilingual).
KEY ACHIEVEMENTS
• Whilst working at Studio Energie, assessed the energy performance of an archaeological museum struggling to
produce heat and cold air. Successfully found 3 regulation layouts to compare in which the main project
manager could decide between the three plants and thermal insulation of the building.
• At Papagni Nicola (Building Services), successfully evaluated & obtained a deal for the efficiency of a district
heating plant, connected to a 4* hotel and 5 flat buildings (400 people). The plant fuel consumption was too high
and customers felt unsatisfied about the lack of efficiency. Created a tool to evaluate the consumption, process
the data i.e. fuel consumption, kWh metering and the number of boilers working. The customer decided to
modify the plant and managed the plant/regulation system.
• Whilst working at ARPA, generated an online tool for the ALCOTRA project (data energy in houses). Obtained
data on plant efficiency and the level of air pollution output given by “smiles” which several people contributed to
due to the user-friendly online tool. ALCOTRA PIT H3 Espace Mont-Blanc "Villages Durables" (sustainable
towns) required the development of an energy and carbon dioxide balance of air emissions for Valdigne.
• At ARPA, created maps of LPG tanks and started to improve thermal plant maps for some areas to install
district heating plants and cogeneration. This increased production efficiency and reduced the high pollution
output.
• At Acquatherm di Salmin Mauro, effectively reduced the time it took to produce a safety plan and delivered a
structure that was easy to understand.
CAREER HISTORY
Sep 2010 – Feb 2015 Agenzia Regionale per la Protezione dell’Ambiente Valle d’Aosta: ARPA
(Public Administration and Environment Protection)
Nov 2013 – Feb 2015 EPCs Control Manager
Mar 2013 – Jul 2013
• Managed and provided the Energy Performance Certificate (EPCs) public controls in the Aosta. Valley.
Jul 2012 – Dec 2012 Project Manager
• Analyzed and evaluated the perspectives of district heating, mini and micro-cogeneration in Aosta Valley.
• Developed and reviewed the method for EPC’s public controls.
Sep 2010 – Jun 2012 Project Manager: ALCOTRA PIT H3 Espace Mont-Blanc ‘Villages
Durables’ (Italy, France and Switzerland)
• Developed an effective and user-friendly energy and carbon dioxide balance of air emissions at a local level
(Valdigne, near France and Switzerland), including a wood biomass district heating systems assessment.
• Fixed a state-of-the-art of energy and sustainability system to suggest how to improve energy savings and
pollution reduction.
• Produced regular reports on performance for senior management and private stakeholders (municipalities,
departments, energy producers, energy managers and project managers).
• Played a key role in designing a free software program which calculated home energy assessments.
• Delivered public speeches on key results and home energy savings.
Jun 2008 – Aug 2010 Energy Consultant: Studio Energie s.a.
• Produced on a regular basis heating calculations, building energy performance certificates (EPCs) and Energy
Audits.
• Designed heating systems and buildings thermal insulation.
• Fully managed the energy assessment of a museum built on fields with rare archaeological finds. Benchmarked
the efficacy of 3 different thermal plant schemes.
• Calculated building acoustic insulation levels.
Oct 2007 – May 2008 Technical Employee: Acquatherm di Salmin Mauro & C S.n.c.
• Worked on heating systems based on renewable energy sources: wood boilers, thermal solar panels.
• Provided customer support and guidance and supplier management as and when requested.
• Provided yard safety plans.
Jan 2001 – May 2007 Thermal Plant Maintenance Manager: Papagni Nicola (Building Services)
• Supervised 10 employees and remote working technicians.
• Daily managed 250 thermal plants (including 180 flat towers and 20 hotels). This included routine control of
heating plants through remote control software via landline and mobile; plant inspections for plant efficiency,
pollution levels; boiler combustion analysis; management of consumption metering and heating systems remote
controls.
• Produced reports on maintenance costs, warehouse requirements and fuel consumptions.
• Assisted customers with converting their plants from a traditional to a district heating system.
EDUCATION
1996 – 2000 Laurea, Higher degree of Mechanical Engineering (MSc equivalent)
Politecnico di Torino (IT)
Final dissertation: “Load cells: working and construction types – development of selection criteria of main
custom typologies”.
FURTHER TRAINING
Intensive English (intermediate level): British Council, Milan (Jul 2015)
