CAREER HISTORY TO DATE
 Apr 15 – Present;Leven Health Centre. Band 7 Nurse Practitioner. Independently led clinics &
prescribing for; minor illness/injury, contraception (oral and Depot), exacerbations of chronic
disease, travel health, hypertension clinics and well woman. Development of in-house protocols and
undertaking clinical audits. Triage of emergency patients and telephone triage.
 Apr 14 – Apr 15; Muirhouse Medical Centre, Edinburgh. Band 6 Practice Nurse. Nurse led chronic
disease clinics; hypertension, diabetes, asthma, COPD – this included home visits for housebound
patients. Baby and children's immunisations, travel vaccines, minor illness/injury and smear clinics.
 Aug 03 – Jul 14; the UK & Germany. Senior Practice Nurse for 7 years, main duties/roles entailed;
organising and running daily nurse led clinics, these included – travel health, well woman, baby and
children immunisations clinics, smoking cessation, minor illness/injury and spirometry. I also took
part in clinical governance by undertaking regular clinical based audits & organising clinical update
training for staff. Writing of staff annual appraisals. Two deployments to Afghanistan both Primary
care roles, also Aeromedical evacuations to UK, triage of mass casualties for the Secondary Health
facility.
 Dec 99 – Aug 03; Ministry of Defence Health Units (MDHU) and ‘The Princess Marys Hospital’ at
RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus and the acute medical admissions ward, MDHU Peterborough.
 Oct 99 - Dec 99; RAF Recruitment Training undertaken at RAF Halton. This involved a 9 week
training course consisting of: fitness, ground defence & weapons training, service discipline and
general service knowledge.
 Jan 99 – Oct 99; Contech Healthcare Recruitment Agency, long term contract to work within the
surgical division of the Western Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh. Mainly worked within the General
Surgical or Urology wards.
 May 97 – Dec 98; Riyadh Military Hospital, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Staff nurse working within the
Oncology Ward. Main roles were to assess, plan & implement patient care, administer
chemotherapy as prescribed, care of surgical wounds and plan for at times, difficult home care.
 Feb 1996 – May 97; Stobhill Hospital, Glasgow. First post as a junior staff nurse; ward covered
oncology, haematology, rheumatology, respiratory and cardiology medicine.

 Nov 2015 – present; Sgt nurse within of 612 Sqn (medical) based at Leuchars. As an ex regular
member of the RAF, there is a requirement for 15 days attendance (weekends only), not deployable
until earliest of Nov 2018. Good opportunity for medical training and funding for relevant courses.
