Work History
Title : Master of Mortar - Castle Drogo Dartmoor, Devon
March 2014 - December 2015
National Trust c/o William Anelays - Building and Restoration contractors
Duties
To manage the quality assurance, stock control and accurate delivery of 20 types of hydraulic
lime mortar to teams of stone masons. Throughout stages of reconstruction. Also responsible
for technical advice to the masonry teams and cataloging of mortar samples.
This position was a fantastic experience to work on a grade one listed castle designed by a
famous British historical figure which unfortunately leaked from completion. Being on the
management team on this £11m project offered me exciting challenges having been charged
with designing my own working system practices from a blank canvas, The mortars used were
specifically produced for this project.
