Acute Pain Resource Nurse (11-99 to 3-02)
Responsibilities included applying the principles of quality improvement in managing the delivery
of pain care in the inpatient acute care setting. Positions held comprised the National Post-
Operative Pain Project Research Facility Coordinator, the Acute Pain Management Department
Committee Chair, Co-Facilitator of the Performance Improvement in Pain Management
Committee, member of the Practice Council, Education and Performance Improvement
Committees. Other responsibilities included the care of pediatric patients undergoing conscious
sedation procedures and acting as staff relief in PICU.
Pain Management Staff Nurse (1998 to 11-99)
Responsibilities included the care of acute and chronic pain patients in hospitalized and
ambulatory settings; nursing care of the conscious sedation patient and recovery of patients after
invasive procedures.
Main Post Anesthesia Care Unit (1992 to 1998)
Responsibilities included the care of a diverse group of surgical patients, including acute, chronic
and critical care patients. In addition, certified in Post-Anesthesia Nursing Care since 1995 and a
CPR instructor from 1994 to 1998.
Nurse Manager of General Medical Unit (1990-1992)
Responsibilities included the management of 54 employees of a 46-bed medical unit, scheduling,
staffing, budgeting, and coordinating all aspects of care.
Head Nurse of Hyperbaric Medicine (1988-1990)
Responsibilities included managing this specialized out-patient unit, including staffing, scheduling,
and coordinating the delivery of care.

Responsibilities included providing wound treatments and caring for patients during pressurized

Responsibilities included providing care and treatment modalities for general medical patients
with multi-disease processes.

2009 – Instrumental in clarifying the inclusion of APRNs to the patient compensation
fund through legislative amendment of the medical malpractice law.
2012 – Assisted with further amendment of the mental health law to include emergency
certificates for children.
2012 – Piloted the first introduction of legislation to remove the collaborative practice
agreement in the state of Louisiana.
