State. He was handling International Development Partnership & leverage) Department of Social Mobilization

job descriptions.Has capacity in managing groups with resoundingresults. Conversantwith programs Supported
by International Development Partners/ donor agencies.Loves workingwith under-privileged people, minorities
and passionatewith development goal under the MDGs strategy and its present sustainability strategies.
A Change manager of people and resources with cognate experiences in reform agenda with knowledge in
Managing Development acquired from international donor agencies, one of such agencies is UNDP, ESSPIN/DFID,
DLA, USAID, UNICEF etc. I have served as the State Coordinator Federal Teachers Scheme (FTS) helping to achieve
some basic MillenniumDevelopment Goals (MDGs): Education for all & the right to information to our people
which are key instruments for the development of our dear nation. I am currently employed on leave of absenceas
a community action mobilizer with Discovery LearningAlliance/DFID in projectknown as Fitila (meaning;Lamp)
developing and improvingcapacity in teachingand learningwith the use of TV, DVD players and DVDs produced by
the Discovery Channel Media. The program is also workingwith communities in promoting engagement, gender
balance/equitableresponsivepractices, sustainability and instillingbestpractices for stakeholders in Kano state. At
the Fitila/Discovery LearningAllianceProjectwe aimto supporteducation and gender equality commitments
established by national education ministries.As such with video in the classroomteachers and community
stakeholders aretrained to develop knowledge, skills and attitudes required for the creation of gender equitable
schools and responsivegender practices to overcome obstacles for girls and minorities in our society.

JOB DESCRIPTION WITH DISCOVERY LEARNING PROJECT
Action Mobilizer implementing community outreach and mobilization activities geared toward engendering
awareness,dialogueand community-driven collectiveactions to address barriersto education and other social
reforms. These includesetting a strong vision and clear roadmap for the community trainingand outreach
component of the project, workingwith the Community Outreach Coordinator to directly engage on behalf of the
team with key community stakeholders in Kano State. The position which has significantlocal travel to the project
sites and communities has also;
1. Establishingrelationshipswith community leaders and stakeholders to introducethe initiativeand to raise
awareness about barriers to education.
2. Undertaking and deliveringcommunity outreach trainingto school administrators,teachers,and community
leaders ateach project site.
3. Monitoringthe progress and results of community outreach trainingand supportingschools and communities as
they develop and implement their action plans to address barriersto education whileurging them to includein
their action plans theuse of media materials such as theDa bazar mu (GIRLS RISING) videos to help them better
sensitizestakeholders in girl child / gender campaigns riseof Girls Associationsin or around school communities to
strengthen chances for the female gender in our society.
4. Encouraging and monitoring the formation of community groups to supportboys and girls in reachingtheir own
education goals as we are now witnessingthe establishmentof Child Protection Practiceand Prevention of
abuse/respect for rights
5. Mentoring and instillingbestPractices on Community engagement and Involvement in Education
6. Ensuring strong performance in linewith agreed plans and budgets, maintainingregular communication
management with supervisors and ensuringtheroutine flow of information up from project sites to meet all
reporting requirements.
7. Also, workinga Lead Trainer in the Intensive Teacher Trainingwhere I double up to facilitatein Teacher Capacity
Buildingby the use of Video in the classroom
8. Point of Contact for 3 LGEAs namely Ungogo, Rano and Garko responsiblelogistical and information collection
M&E, feedbacks, referrals etc. on all Community related Actions; and trainingof Interns. At DFID/Fitila Learning
Project in Kano State under Discovery Learning Allianceas Community Action Mobilizer (and facilitatingin
Intensive Teacher Training) reachingoutto hundreds of school teachers and communities on Capacity building,
awareness creation and sensitization driveto help give the programa genuine acceptance and broad based
stakeholder commitment & action sustainability
EXPERIENCES The applicanthas over 20 years of cognate experience in various fields of educational management
and community engagement. He has virtually served in almostall sections of BasicEducation with special focus on
Social Mobilization and Managingresources.Initiated the absorption of 1000 FTS interns into Kano State Civil
Service in 2009 which has earned the State some recognition. His exposure to teaching and learningcondition
prevalent today with other experiences in Managingchanges/community based initiatives likeSHPs in school
communities. My notion of thorough Social and Behavioral ChangeCommunication (SBCC) strategies in the
nearest future is to further strengthen our social/community outreach.This is a clear direction thatwill help add
valueto the good image of our prestigious organization.The Stakeholders we are working need more awareness
creation,mobilization and sensitization through the media at community-level activities and interpersonal to
influenceindividualsas well as groups to clearly reposition their outlook and help us instill prudentmanagement of
our Fitila TLMs ,encourage whole School care,seeking continuity leadingfuture Leadership and Sustainability of
the DLA goals and objectives.More so, I hope to use my background to bringpositiveimpactto this new position
to reach out positively to and make impact.
OTHER EXPERIENCES-With a solid basein human / welfare management, have in the pastcollaborated in the
design & facilitation of several trainingprograms. One of such programwas the Kano State Vision and
Domestication of the State Policy Guidelines on SBMC. Team oriented and result driven with a wide range of
experiences drawingfrom participatory actionsin Personnel Management Boards / Committees which has
sharpened his horizon in managinggroups,enhancing productivity through motivation and managing resources.
Former Head of Administration at State, Zonal Office, later coordinatingreforminitiatives through Human
Resource Management and Development (HRM & D) system. With efficient trainings and mentoring delivery every
other sector of our public lifecan be assured of maximum development. A graduate of Administrativestaff College
of Nigeria (Management Course). Other trainingundertaken in areas of mappingout Operational Plan
(OP),Planning&Statistics, Communication & Knowledge Management, Developing Work Plan (DWP) and
domestication of plan framework, participatory trainingin thedrawingup of ESP leadingto AEOR / MTSS finally
aimingto contribute to the objectives set out in MDGs, NEEDS, SEEDS and other reform agenda. Help shaped the
State Ministry of Education Policy objective and Departmental mandate in a workshop in 2011;MTSS (known as
corporate planning).ParticipantatNEI / ESSPIN collaboration,cooperation and coordination forumon sharingof
experiences. Participantin the major State Corporate Planning Processes on reformfor policy framework mostly
conducted by DFID / ESSPIN. The Participatory actionsin SBMC community activities has yielded positiveresults as
stakeholders arenow continually engagingin positivecontributions to educational development in Kano State.
Contributed in the preparation and conductof (2010) Annual School Census (ASC) and performance scorecard
produced subsequently. A former Member SEMIS Committee in Kano State & trained by AdministrativeStaff
College of Nigeria (ASCON).
Trained and experienced in ManagingIndustrial conflict.Havearranged, organized and participated in Seminars
and Workshops both as a Resource Person or Facilitator.

JOB DESCRIPTION WITH DISCOVERY LEARNING PROJECT Action Mobilizer implementing community outreach and mobilization activities geared toward engendering awareness,dialogueand community-driven collectiveactions to address barriersto education and other social reforms. These includesetting a strong vision and clear roadmap for the community trainingand outreach component of the project, workingwith the Community Outreach Coordinator to directly engage on behalf of the team with key community stakeholders in Kano State. The position which has significantlocal travel to the project sites and communities has also; 1. Establishingrelationshipswith community leaders and stakeholders to introducethe initiativeand to raise awareness about barriers to education. 2. Undertaking and deliveringcommunity outreach trainingto school administrators,teachers,and community leaders ateach project site. 3. Monitoringthe progress and results of community outreach trainingand supportingschools and communities as they develop and implement their action plans to address barriersto education whileurging them to includein their action plans theuse of media materials such as theDa bazar mu (GIRLS RISING) videos to help them better sensitizestakeholders in girl child / gender campaigns riseof Girls Associationsin or around school communities to strengthen chances for the female gender in our society. 4.   • 7. EXPERIENCES The applicanthas over 20 years of cognate experience in various fields of educational management and community engagement. He has virtually served in almostall sections of BasicEducation with special focus on Social Mobilization and Managingresources.Initiated the absorption of 1000 FTS interns into Kano State Civil Service in 2009 which has earned the State some recognition. His exposure to teaching and learningcondition prevalent today with other experiences in Managingchanges/community based initiatives likeSHPs in school communities.
