Praxair is a global company that supplies gases and related services with $9.4 billion in annual sales. In November 2007 in New York, Praxair installed EASI energy efficiency products including lighting retrofits, power factor correction, and filters to improve power quality and reduce their $1.2 million annual electric bill, achieving actual savings of 20% so far and payback within 30 months.

Oracle OpenWorld-Showcase JD Edwards - Environmental Accounting & Reporting
The North County Transit District provides public transit services for over 12.5 million riders annually in North San Diego County. They implemented an environmental accounting and reporting system to measure their sustainability performance and track key metrics like emissions reductions over time. Using the Oracle JD Edwards product, they automated data collection and reporting which allowed for more frequent analytics with a payback period of less than 2 years. Starting small with operational changes like using biodegradable supplies and implementing a green data center helped them reduce costs and build their sustainability program step-by-step over many years.

Nan Yang Textile implemented several energy management initiatives between 2002-2006 to reduce their consumption. This included a steam and electricity demand reduction program during 2002-2004. In 2005, they completed a co-generation project to further reduce costs by generating their own electricity and steam on-site. This co-generation project helped them set a new energy record in 2006 by significantly lowering consumption compared to before the project. They believe similar co-generation opportunities exist for other industries in Thailand.

The Naturipe Berry Growers’ facility houses Naturipe’s Watsonville operations, as well as sublet space for Blue Ribbon Frozen Foods, Dobler & Sons, and West Lake Produce. The entire facility needed LED luminary upgrades, but each space had unique lighting needs. IoEnergy provided customized retrofit solutions for Natureripe and its tenants to improve efficiency and safety at each location. The result was $37,894 in annual cost savings, which allowed Naturipe to negotiate more favorable lease renewals with its tenants.
The Blue Ribbon space had the most significant updates including a redesigned lighting layout for their warehouse and new FSC fixtures with motion controls throughout the warehouse and spinach processing plant. Naturipe's upgrades included retrofitting their existing fixture chassis with brighter, more efficient vapor tight high-bay LED fixtures. In total, 288 LED fixtures were installed, bringing the whole lighting system energy consumption down to 17.854 kW from 37.382 kW.

Global paper products giant, Georgia Pacific, needed a lighting upgrade at their manufacturing site in Mt. Olive, Illinois. The existing system was antiquated, inefficient and did not support the updated configuration of their roll room process areas. The poor light quality negatively impacted workplace safety and comfort, in addition to reducing the efficacy of newly installed automated scanning equipment.
IoEnergy conducted an Efficient Enterprise Report audit and determined that a LED lighting upgrade could improve the facility’s lighting quality, while also delivering operational savings in the form of lowered energy, maintenance and HVAC costs. The project, which included the installation of 582 fixtures, will pay for itself in 5.1 years, at which point Georgia Pacific will pocket the annual cost savings for a total ROI over analyzed years of 88.91%.
