All too frequently we are confronted by the many problems facing marriage and family in the modern world. However, there is also a lot of good happening in families and parishes. The Emerging Church and The One Project? is a series of PowerPoint presentations asking the question if there is in fact a connection between the two. The purpose of the presentations are not to lambast those who want to lift Jesus up, but rather to allow leaders of the One Project to tell us in their own words (and the words of those promoting the project) what their goals and aspirations really are, and how these goals have been enacted in their past experiences.
Presentation 1 of 10 is a summary of the Emerging Church as defined on Wikipedia. This is a summary of the 17 page article found there which is taken from many leading proponents of the Emerging Church here in America.
Presentations 2 through 4 deal with Leonard Sweet, a leader in the Emerging Church movement and a professor at George Fox University, and many of the nearly 50 books he has authored which express his various viewpoints.
Presentations 5 through 9 deal with the five main leaders of The One Project, four of which graduated with or started DMin degrees from George Fox University under the mentorship of Leonard Sweet. In each presentation an objective look is taken at material in print telling of each leaders work and ministry up to 2012. The question will naturally follow; is this the direction we should be leading our young people in the Adventist Church?
Presentation 10 deals with the One Project gathering in Seattle, February of 2012, looking at the claims of the Project “Jesus. All” and comparing this to what really took place at the gathering. Yes, there was some good points made, and we need to lift Jesus up, but…. We also take a look at a little of the evidence suggesting The One Project is a response to GYC.

Cooperators of Opus Dei
Saint Josemaría Escrivá founded Opus Dei, an institution of the Catholic Church, on October 2, 1928. Its purpose is to contribute to the Church’s mission to evangelize the world, fostering among people of all sectors of society a life consistent with one’s faith, in the ordinary circumstances of daily life and especially through the sanctification of work.
The message Opus Dei tries to spread is that all honest human work can give glory to God and be “divinized.” For St. Josemaría, to sanctify work means to work with Jesus’ spirit: doing our work conscientiously, seeking to give glory to God and to serve others, and thus to contribute to the sanctification of the world.
The Work provides spiritual formation and pastoral attention to its faithful and to everyone else who wants it, so that each one, in his or her own place in the Church and in the world, may get to know and love God better, giving witness to the faith and striving to help provide Christian solutions to society’s problems.
The Prelature of Opus Dei is made up of a Prelate (Bishop Javier Echevarría) with his clergy, and lay faithful, both men and women. Many other people also take part in its activities, and among them many ask to be Cooperators.
Cooperators of Opus Dei are men and women who by their prayer, almsgiving and work help further the activities organized by the Prelature of Opus Dei, each according to their specific possibilities.
This brochure offers a few testimonies of how Cooperators help, and why.

The Book of Joshua is the sixth book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament, and is the first book of the Deuteronomistic history, the story of Israel from the conquest of Canaan to the Babylonian exile.
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

4. an international community ... a worshipping community ...a learning community ... a community of communities ... a community of prayer ...a connected community ... our dream
5. o u r d r e a m . . .1 we dream of an international Christian community of several thousand people in the city and region of Amsterdam, using ‘world English’ as a common language but drawing people from a wide array of backgrounds and cultures. We see many people coming to faith in Christ and finding purpose for their lives in following him. We see relationships established and sustained across cultural boundaries; we see a faith that is effectively communicated in the context of post-modern, post-Christendom Europe. things we are longing to see come to pass
6. o u r d r e a m . . .2 we dream of a worshipping community ; that helps people of all ages to discover and enjoy a dynamic relationship with God in Christ and leads them ever deeper in their intimacy with Him. We see adults, young people and children finding and expressing their unique place in the family of God. We see expressions of worship that are diverse and colourful, allowing many different people to find their voice in the celebration of God’s prismatic beauty and grace. things we are longing to see come to pass
7. o u r d r e a m . . .3 we dream of a learning community , through which people of all ages find their calling and purpose in serving God in His world, and engage ever more fully with His mission in all its forms. We see opportunities for adults, young people and children to discover and explore God’s mission in the Amsterdam area, in the Netherlands, in Europe and in the world, and to participate in it according to their calling and gifts. We see members of our community finding their ‘right place’ in God’s plans: influencing our culture; blessing others; serving the troubled and the poor. things we are longing to see come to pass
8. o u r d r e a m . . .4 we dream of a ‘community of communities’ : a network of small-scale discipleship groups complemented by larger gatherings for public worship. We see public worship activities that remain open and accessible to non-believers, engaging with people at all stages of faith, and locally-based groups that offer real opportunities for personal growth and faith development. We see people invited into relationships that are deep, authentic, nurturing and strong. We see groups that share friendship; share meals and share life together and support one another in their growth in Christ. things we are longing to see come to pass
9. o u r d r e a m . . .5 we dream of a community of prayer , through which people of all ages are empowered to seek God’s transformation for their own lives, for the needs of others and for the world. We see 24/7 prayer rooms and other prayer ‘activities’ being as the backbone and engine room of all that the community is and does. We see people of all ages growing in the spiritual disciplines and discovering the joy of bold, adventurous and life-giving prayer. things we are longing to see come to pass
10. o u r d r e a m . . .6 we dream of a connected community ; a body that takes its place alongside the other Christian communities of the city and region: learning from each other; complementing one another; working and praying together and investing in relationship. We see a growing network of relationships with other international churches also working in ‘Third Culture’ settings around the world through English language ministry; learning from good practice elsewhere and sharing resources with others. things we are longing to see come to pass
