1) As ambassadors for Christ, Christians represent Christ to the world and are called to provide opportunities for people to become all that God intends them to be through churches, ministries, and service to the community. 2) To be an ambassador of Christ, one must put God's plan into action by being a good example through involvement in their church and community as well as sharing their faith and knowledge of the gospel with others. 3) To truly be an ambassador, one must have faith in Jesus Christ as their savior, be reconciled with God through faith in Christ's death and resurrection, and seek to enter God's kingdom by taking the message of Christ to the ends of the earth.

We are therefore Christ’sambassadors,asthoughGodwere makinghisappeal throughus. We
imploreyou on Christ’sbehalf:Be reconciled to God”(2Corinthians5:20).
An ambassadorisa respectedofficial actingasa representative of anation.Senttoa foreignland,the
ambassador’srole isto reflectthe official positionof the sovereignbodythatgave himauthority.When
we referto an ambassadorforChrist,isrefersto one whorepresentsChristtothe nationsall overthe
world- to representthe bodyof Christ. We are called,toprovide opportunitiesforpeople tobecome all
that God intendsthemtobe,to workcooperatively.This canbe throughchurchesand ministriesor
evenassingle entitiestoputChristianfaithintoactionthroughservice tothe communityatlarge.
As an Ambassadorof Christwe are requiredtoput God’splanintoactionby providingafull range of
service opportunities, frombeinginvolvedin developmentof yourChurch,related community
developmentactivitiesand mostimportantlyto be agood Christian’s exampletothe restof the
world…inshortto be a lightontothe world. We can geta deepunderstandingof ourrole whenJesus
statedas we findin Matthew 5:14-16, “Youare the lightof the world.A townbuilton a hill cannot be
hidden.15
Neither dopeople lighta lampand put it under a bowl.Insteadthey put it onits stand,and
it gives lightto everyone in the house. 16
Inthe sameway, let your lightshine before others,that they
may see your gooddeeds and glorifyyour Father inheaven”. The lightthatJesusisreferringis the
example forlivingas taughtto us throughthe Good NewsthatHe broughtto save the worldfrom
damnation. AsChristianswe needtobe “a lighttoothers”by sharingthisvital knowledge…insteadof
simplykeepingittoourselveswe needtobe ambassadorsforChrist.
We cannotclaimto be ambassadorforChristby simply beinga“namesake Christian”.Quite similarto
the requiredlearningtorepresentanation,we needtoread,learnandunderstand God’sword.By
doingso itteachesus about howJesuslived, how He guidesusbyHisexamples,the instructionsto
adhere toHis will andhow we are to live,andimportantlytobe a livingexampletoothersof Hislove,
grace, faithfulnessandforgiveness. Byreadingthe wordof God,meditationand prayer, we receive
greaterunderstandingandin deepertruththatis an essential requirementto be an ambassadorfor
Christ. It isthisunderstanding we needtocultivate inusasChristians,by activelyadheringtoGods
commands so that othersmayknow that we belongtoHim andtherefore asambassadorsinChrist.We
can learnin JOHN 13:35: "By thisall will knowthat you are My disciples,ifyouhave love forone
another." We must know that the love we develop forone another,the waywe actand relate to
people willplayaverykeyrole inour walkwithChristas Hisambassadors.
To be an ambassadortoChristwe needtobe reconciledwithGod. Thismeansthatwe needtobelieve
and have faithinJesusChristas one’ssaviourandseeksalvationfromHim. We know thatour
reconciliationwithGodis possible onlybecause Christwenttothe cross anddiedforthe redemptionof
our sin.WhenJesuscriedout, It isfinished, He meant“the barrierbetweensinfulmanandHolyGod
was removed.Itisonlythenthatwe are able to developastrongandpersonal relationshipwithGod
and thenbeginto trulyrepresentHim.We mustknow that our reconciliationisbasedonthe salvation
Jesusprovides,anditis receivedbyfaith.ItisonlythroughfaithinGodthat we can achieve salvation

2. and that ispossible onlythrough JesusChristasone’ssaviour. We canlearnfromColossians 1:“But now
he has reconciledyou by Christ’sphysical bodythroughdeath to present you holyin hissight,without
blemishandfree from accusation” (Colossians1:22).
Christiansare God’sambassadorsinthat theyhave been“approvedbyGodto be entrustedwiththe
gospel.Thisisa God givenresponsibilitythatwill be testedbyHim.We can learnfrom 1 Thessalonians
2:4, “Onthe contrary,we speak asthose approved by Godto be entrusted with the gospel.We are not
trying to pleasepeople but God,whotests our hearts”.We must know that as Christbelievers we seek
to enterGods Kingdom…InJohn 18:36, Jesussaid, “My kingdomisnot of thisworld. If it were, my
servants wouldfightto prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders.But nowmy kingdomis from another
place.” Since we are currentlyof thisworld it isour responsibilitytoreflectthe “official position”of
heaven. Todo that we are empoweredbythe HolySpirit, andwe musttake the message of our Kingto
the “endsof the earth”by imploringmenandwomeneverywhere tobe reconciledtoGod. We can learn
thisfromActs 1:8, “Butyou will receive power when the Holy Spiritcomes on you; andyou will be my
witnessesin Jerusalem,and in all Judeaand Samaria,andto the endsof the earth.”
As Christianswe mustalwaysrememberthatwe have beenentrustedwitharesponsibilitytobe
ambassadorsto Christ.“Weare therefore Christ’sambassadors,asthoughGodwere makinghis
appeal throughus. We imploreyou on Christ’sbehalf:Be reconciled to God”(2Corinthians5:20).

making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf:
