Introducing Character and narrative context
Conventionally feature films introduce the audience to the
main character and/or narrative context this is a convention
used in ‘Gone Girl’ that I again I have used myself. Here I
used an establishing shot that pans downward to show
the main character and location. It also sides us with the
protagonist, and puts us in the harsh environment that

Music Crows
I used crows because they symbolise death and I wanted to foreshadow death and
highlight the theme of it within my film. My soundtrack creates a harrowing effect, it is
unnerving and eerie, like many other Crime Drama/Thriller. The opening soundtrack to
“Se7en” even though it is very different I was heavily inspired by its ability to unnerve
and I wanted to re create that feeling in my opening

Character
The main character is young for being a detective, he challenges the
usual image of a detective. He is young, doesn’t appear to have any
problems. He is determined to work hard and solve the case. Usually
detective are shown to have a drinking/drug problem and family issues.
Another thing is that detectives are usually older males.

Victim
The victim in my opening is a male this is uncommon to see in crime
dramas conventionally in crime dramas the victim is a young female
who has been used for some sexual fancity by the killer but I choose to
use an older male victim.
