This document provides instructions for an assignment to craft a proposed constitutional amendment. Students are asked to write an amendment from the perspective of one of three American political cultures - individualists, traditionalists, or moralists. The amendment must further an important value of a representative republic. Students must also explain how the other two cultures would view the proposal and suggest a compromise amendment that could gain support from at least two cultures. The document provides examples of well and poorly worded amendments and restrictions on amendment content.
