Bradfield College Testimonial
“We have found them very professional and thoughtful. Most importantly
for us, they have worked with us in developing ideas, but have been
understanding of the traditions and complexities of our organisation.
As a partnership they have expanded our thinking and approaches to
energy saving. We are delighted with the cost-savings and efficiencies that
they have made to reduce our consumption levels of water and electricity.
Needless to say we are continuing to work with them to further reduce
energy consumption and costs.”
Ian Barnes, Assistant Bursar, Bradfield College

Editor's Notes

  • #5 The CRC was formed 2 years ago by two directors with over 40 years commercial experience between them. All partners are experienced professionals, from a variety of backgrounds. The CRC is a cost and purchase consultancy, but is dedicated to finding savings for clients AND reducing carbon footprint (the latter only if the client wishes, but this is an area that is gaining importance and legislative momentum year by year). We are not a pushy company who merely wish to come in, look for easy targets, extract a fee, and move on. We much prefer to see it as a longer term partnership, going at the client’s pace.We recognise that quality is important, and so are good working relationships with your suppliers, supplier reliability, and convenience. Price is not everything. We also recognise that it’s very important to listen to a client’s needs. And respect any sensitivities about existing supply.
  • #6 CRC has a wide range of high-profile clients already. These are some examples…We are working with three London clubs now, and due to start work with a fourth shortly.
  • #7 With Bradfield College we have achieved savings through finding cheaper tariffs on a range of supplies; and then engaged in a range of consumption reduction projects (which have cut their costs further). The remainder of the examples are recent savings achieved for clients in single projects, and most relate to tariff reduction.
  • #9 We offer a genuine No Saving - No Fee service. We’ll conduct an initial analysis of expenditure in whatever area requested, including a thorough scrutiny of invoices. Only if we identify worthwhile savings, and the client decides to exploit the opportunity, will we raise a fee. So, we are only paid out of our success.More often than not we do find worthwhile savings. Other companies in this business take out a higher fee than CRC does. Our standard fee is 35% of the value of the savings returned to the client, although with some overheads there is no fee because we take a small percentage of the supplier’s charge. We are always open about how we earn our share.CRC seeks to establish a long term partnership with the client. Rather than simply looking for easy pickings, we would much rather spend time talking with the client, gain a good understanding of the pressure points and priorities, and go at a pace that the client is comfortable with. We are genuine about cost-reduction.We recognise that clients are busy, and may not have time to do any extra work: so we’ll go to great lengths if necessary to minimise the workload that the process entails. We may nag you from time to time, because we know that sometimes busy people need a gentle nag to get going with an important new project when there is already enough to be getting on with. But we also know when to back off because clients are up to their necks in urgent tasks. You always have ‘leave-me-in-peace-I’m-busy’ rights…We tend to find savings in two ways. The first is to look through existing invoices and see if there are immediate or short term savings available: for example, this may be a rebate on a utility contract, or a cheaper tariff. But for longer term and sustained savings, once we’ve proved ourselves, we will introduce the client to innovative technologies that enable a tighter control of consumption and ultimately enable a reduction in consumption.
  • #10 In the initial search for savings we can assess a wide range of supply lines, much wider than clients generally expect. We’ll only look at those areas that the client suggests, after our initial meeting. These are some examples, and illustrate how diverse our services can be:
  • #11 We’ll explain the process at our initial meeting: it’s as easy and burden-free for the client as we can make it…
