Survivin Immunoreactivity in the Gastric Mucosa of Rats Feedind with Carpet S...
cover letter two
1. Dear Sir or Madam,
My name is Michaela Agrifoglio. I hold a master’s Degree in Marine Bio-ecology pursued at
the University of Cagliari (Italy).
My studies have been carried out at a genetics and molecular biology research laboratory with
the aim of preserving endangered species or species close to extinction, and include possible
mutations that could threaten the well-being of said species.
I studied the Dipturus oxyrinchus species to identify possible genetic variability among the
populations in the Sea of Sardinia; this particular species has been divided into seven areas
with reference to the samples gathered during the Medits project.
During this lengthy project, which lasted approximately two years, we experienced some
difficulties when trying to find the right PCR cycle in order to correctly amplify said genetic
region. Nevertheless, through our serious commitment even when under pressure, we
successfully obtained results for the individuals of said species thanks to the MEDITS coves
(2012-2015).
My research was based on an accurate bioinformatics analysis using the MEGA6 programme,
with the aim of identifying possible mutations in the nucleotide sequences and possible
genetic variability from area to area.
This said, it would be a great honour for me to work with you as I would like to study further
species in order to preserve them and protect them from potential threats.
I firmly believe that every living being is a fundamental part of global biodiversity, and that
their well-being can be achieved only through knowledge enrichment.
I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Michaela Agrifoglio
