Country Music
 The first sounds of country music started occurring during
the 1920’s. Even though there were a few singers ahead of
Jimmie Rodgers, he is still known as the “father of country
music”. In his music he included yodeling which made his
songs more unique. Throughout the years, country music
gradually took twists in it’s sound. During the 1950’s and
60’s the sound of country music became known as
bluegrass as it became more influenced by jazz and blues.
This lead into the era of the Nashville sound. The Nashville
sound referred to the voice that these singers developed
based on their southern accents. Now Nashville Tennessee
is known as the “country music capital of the world”.
 Today, country singers are using a mixture
of country sound with rock. They are trying
to appeal to a wider audience and
change based on what the fans like.
Country songs are usually recognizable by
ballads. Each country song has a story
behind them, most of which focus around
relationships, alcohol, and trucks. These
songs get fans attention because they can
often relate to them.

Personal Opinion
 As someone who listens to country music, I feel that
it is easier to connect with the songs. I can also
follow the lyrics better since they tell a story and the
tempo of the music is generally slower then rap and
other genres of music. I also consider myself to be
“country boy” and this style of music fits me and my
personality.
