The Junior Healthcare Leaders of Alabama (JHLA) initiative aims to:
1) Increase health literacy in adolescents through biweekly learning sessions on health topics.
2) Provide career readiness training and develop students' emotional intelligence.
3) After 20 sessions, 13 participating students from Notasulga High School will graduate in a white coat ceremony.
4) Preliminary results found the program increased students' health literacy by 10.4%.
