The story describes a day in the life of Linda Harrison, a worker at a Hylyne chicken processing plant. Due to worsening glaucoma, she has difficulty seeing directly in front of her and must position chicks to the sides when cervical dislocating them. Her coworker Daisy expresses concern about Linda's vision problems. Linda also describes imaginings where she sees herself in the chicks and uses laser vision to cut down trees, though she realizes these are not real.
