9. How is cloning different from sexual reproduction?
Sexual Reproduction combines two
gamaetes for producing a zygote whereas
cloning produces an exact copy of the
individual.
Sexual Reproduction
In fertilization, the
sperm and egg have one
set of chromosomes each.
When the sperm and egg
join, they grow into an
embryo with two sets—one
from the father's sperm
and one from the
mother's eggs.
SCNT -Somatic Cell
Nuclear Transfer
In SCNT, the egg cell's
single set of chromosomes
is removed. It is replaced
by the nucleus from a
somatic cell, which already
contains two complete sets
of chromosomes. So, in the
resulting embryo, both sets
of chromosomes come
from the somatic cell.
10. Dolly the sheep, the world's
first cloned mammal, is
announced to the world and
meets the media, at Roslin
Institute, in Roslin, Scotland,
on 22nd February 1997.
15. Other types of cloning- Gene cloning
Steps in Gene Cloning
Basic 7 steps are:
● Isolation of DNA [gene of interest] fragments
to be cloned.
● Insertion of isolated DNA into a suitable
vector to form recombinant DNA.
● Introduction of recombinant DNA into a
suitable organism known as host.
● Selection of transformed host cells and
identification of the clone containing the gene
of interest.
● Expression of the introduced Gene in the
host.
● Isolation of multiple gene copies/Protein
expressed by the gene.
● Purification of the isolated gene copy/protein

18. A question…..
Do you think government should rethink on the laws
regarding cloning?

20. Despite being red, Mars is
actually a cold place. It’s full of
iron oxide dust
Venus has a very beautiful
name and is the second planet
from the Sun
Mercury is the closest planet to
the Sun and the smallest one in
the Solar System
Neptune is the fourth-largest
planet in the Solar System.
