The Hanging Church was built on top of the ruins of a Roman fortress, using parts of palm trees and layers of stones as its foundation. It gets its name from being constructed above the fortress remains. The Coptic Museum in Coptic Cairo houses the world's largest collection of Egyptian Christian artifacts and was founded in 1908 by Marcus Simaika Pasha.
