Evaluation Task 4

Genre theory proposes that genres can be understood through their semantic or syntactic elements, with semantics referring to visual conventions and syntax referring to narrative structures and relationships between elements.

Costume and design
Tod Baines' costume is average everyday clothes to seem normal and relaxed. Messer's costume is all black to seem dangerous and like a murderer trying to stay hidden. Vanessa Ship also has a mainstream look to initially seem harmless before her murder. Celia Thompson and Zachary Wallis have casual, generic looks to seem like normal background characters posing no danger.
After effect
After Effects can be used to edit video footage, images, and audio. The footage bin contains all project assets that can be selected for use. The timeline allows you to view and edit the composition, adding and removing layers to design the final product. Text and layers can be edited on the timeline by highlighting the specific layer first before making any changes. A linear wipe transition can be created and edited by adjusting the transition completion from 0% to 100% at the start and 100% to 0% at the end.
Fear itself

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. - 1. Noir conventions within the characters of Azrael
- 2. Our femme fatale As Amy is represented in the beginning of Gone Girl as being funny, smart, beautiful, having a great personality, is the same in our film, however the audience don’t get to see this side of Kristen in the trailer. Kristen when she was having an affair with mark, was everything any man would want, caring, helpful, trustworthy and was hard for mark to resist. Clearly all their affairs start before where the film starts so to the audience, Kristen is a mysterious girl. The audience slowly discover that the most dangerous thing about Kristen is that she will do absolutely anything, including lying, blackmailing, and even committing murder, to get people to submit to her. Very like Amy in gone girl, how went to extreme measures to make her husband realise the attention she demands. Our femme fatale conforms to a lot of the stereotypes around her role, however subverts the general representation of females in society. The general representation is that woman are weak, rely on men, live at home looking after children and are always presentable and behave how men expect them too. However, Kristen subverted a lot of these stereotypes because behind the surface she is manipulative and uses her sexuality to get what she wants.
- 3. Our fall guy Mark, James dad is an unusual character. He cheats on his dying wife with no guilt, doesn’t allow his son to see his mother when she’s ill and lies about seeing her so he can see the person he’s having an affair with. He’s seen as being a bit twisted not a very good father when the truth comes out. He has always had a close relationship with his sister until he did something which he felt he couldn't’t even talk to her about. This character is inspired by the main character in night crawler as he is twisted does an incredibly dangerous job. The main character in night crawler is also view as being abit nasty and brutal. Our fall guy conforms to the stereotypes of a fall guy that they are the ones who always get the blame, everything bad goes there way and are easily manipulated by the femme fatale. He conforms too this within noir as he is manipulated by Kristen to sleep with her and lie to Jess, his sister. In society, males can sometimes be represented as aggressive or angry and Mark conforms too this when he shouts at Jess and pushes her against the wall, and again when he pushes away mardi when she tries to be affectionate.
- 4. Our detective Jess, is the sister of Mark who is acts slightly as the detective in the film. She realise that the stories do not add up between her best friend, Kristen and her brother. We want to represent that she is clearly innocent in the trailer and make it clear that she is trying to solve the issue. This character wasn’t partially inspired by anyone however her characteristics to have her own moral compass and too have faith with her brother despite everything leading towards her brother being the murderer. Stereotypically in noirs, the detective is a man. We choose to have a female detective figure as female empowerment within being strong and intelligent, rather than just being manipulative. This subverted the stereotype of detective and the stereotype that society have of detective are men. However, jess does conform too other characteristics such as never backing out even when told too and working along side the law with there own moral compass in tact.
