Our Sustainable Agenda
7. Post the 20 year civil war, rebuilding Somalia will be largely anchored on
Foreign Direct investment (FDI) to facilitate infrastructure and socio
economic development to improve livelihoods.
While Somalia has a considerable deposit of natural resources, its
greatest asset is its strategic location between Middle East, South Asia
and Africa.
This strategic position makes it an important international trade link
from inter markets for which the stability of this Horn of Africa nation is
key.
Harardhere, a coastal city, becomes ideal for the development of a first
of its kind, blue economy in Africa, considering that Somalia enjoys total
of 3,333Km of shore line
Galmudug has a suitable federal state government structure.
The project has received government with the allocation of a 25,000
hectare area for the construction of the city which will have a sea port
The project has political support anchored on a shared vision for socio
economic transformation
Somalia…..The New Investment Frontier
8. The smart city development concept is integrated with the strategic
plan of leveraging the aspect of creating the Somali Blue economy
(SOBE) zone.
The “blue economy” concept pursues economic growth, social
incorporation, and the safeguarding or development of livelihoods
while ensuring environmental sustainability of the oceans, coastal areas
and other water resources.
Somalia potentially stands to gain the most from a robust and
sustainable smart city development integrating the blue economy
aspect.
