EXCLUSIVE SITE VISITS - DAY THREE
friday 22nd
july 2016
Site Visit 1
Eko Atlantic City
Eko Atlantic City is being constructed on land reclaimed from the Atlantic Ocean using the Mixed Used Development concept. Upon completion, the new
island is anticipating at least 250,000 residents with a daily flow of 150,000 commuters. The multi billion dollars, 10km2 development will have waterfront
areas, tree lined streets, efficient transport systems and mixed use plots that combine residential areas with leisure facilities, offices and shops. Eko Atlantic
will enhance the status of Lagos and create a new and stronger financial hub for the whole of West Africa.
This City has evolved rapidly from a visionary design concept into a technological reality. Infrastructural road works and underground surface drainage pipes
are already laid along major routes across the new city. Piling works are complete for the many bridges. The Great Wall of Lagos sea revetment, which is
being built more than 2km offshore at 8.5m above sea level, has surpassed 5km in length and is protecting over 5,000,000m2 of Eko Atlantic and Victoria
Island. Across Eko Atlantic, independent reliable electricity, advanced fibre optic telecoms, and clean water utility services are already installed below street
level. With the foundations in place, this magnificent engineering and technological city is now rising.
This Mixed Use Development is privately funded by South Energyx Nigeria Limited (the developers and city planners, a subsidiary of the Nigeria based
Chagoury Group of Companies) working in strategic partnership with the Lagos State Government and supported by the Nigerian Federal Government.
Site Visit 2
Kingsway Tower
Kingsway Tower is yet another aesthetically pleasing high rise building in the busy commercial node of Lagos comprising offices, ground floor retail,
restaurants and basement parking.
Located in between Eko Atlantic City and the Free Trade Zone, the mixed use development theme of this building is keeping up with the new trend being
seen in many new developments in Lagos expected in the coming years. The mixed used development site is on the corner of Glover Road and Kingsway
Road (Alfred Rewane Way) with completion anticipated in 2017.

Lekki Free Trade Zone covers a total area of about 30km2 with 27km2 for urban construction purposes using mixed use development concept which will
accommodate a total resident population of 120,000 and will be the economic capital of Nigeria.
Lekki new city will be divided into five linear development zones including the Lagoon Zone - tourism with mixed uses, commercial and business; the North
Urban Zone – largely new residential; the Natural Park Zone – environmental and nature conservation park; the South Urban Zone – existing and new
residential with commercial and mixed uses as well as light industry; and the Atlantic Coastal Zone – mainly tourism and recreational.
The Masterplan for the FTZ which was presented and discussed with the Ministry of Urban Planning and Physical Development, local authorities and
stakeholders envisages the Lekki Peninsula as a “Blue-Green” Environment City. The unique characteristics of the Atlantic Coast, Lagos Lagoon and the
inland natural areas will be protected and enhanced to give The City the special natural ambience character.

MORE ABOUT THE EVENT
large scale events
Why you Cannot Miss this Event
More than half of the African countries now are classified as either mid or
high income nations. This has propelled the need for mixed use developments
resultant to rapid urbanisation. This is driving the demand for real estate,
expansion of current cities and the rise of new ones. By 2025, infrastructure
spending in Sub-Saharan Africa will exceed USD180 billion per annum and will
provide opportunities for real estate growth and further investments. Currently,
demand for residential, high quality retail, office, commercial and industrial
parks outstripped supply as more and more local and international occupiers
are responding to the improving economy. As a result, over the past few years,
mixed use developments have become essential to urban planning and real estate
development due to its ability to offer maximised density.
Mixed use developments are gaining significance as it provides a tool for
governments across Africa to boost local and international tourism in the
continent, a concept for developers to reduce their risks through diversification of
asset classes that can act as feeders to one another, an innovation for architects
and engineers to look at new trends in designs and up-to-date technologies to
be incorporated into the masterplan to create a vibrant and unique mixed use
development that can enhance ROI to owners.
This Mixed Use Development conference will bring together experts and industry
players to provide valuable advice and experience to offer participants the latest
design, architectural updates and state-of-the-art engineering consideration that
caters to rapid urbanisation and high density to construct greenfield and revitalise
brownfield projects. The Mixed-Use model thus offers higher chances of earning
ROI by providing more flexibility in land use and these projects are more self-
sustainable compared to single-use projects. This would make it financially more
beneficial to boost profits in the current economic situation.
This conference provides the perfect platform to explore ways of designing
your development to tap into diverse markets through a combination of right
components, enhancing the retail element, implementing innovative energy-
efficient technologies to generate higher ROI in the long term and how to
establish a global brand.
Follow your own agenda with a choice of two streams over the two days:
Stream One
Masterplanning and Design
This stream will cover the elements of architecture, infrastructure, mobility and
transportation and positioning of the elements in a mixed-use development.
Discover how to provide well-organised traffic flow of people and vehicles
throughout the development as well as optimise spatial planning and structural
systems minimal intrusion into public spaces.
Also,learnhowtoincorporatesustainabledesignsandarchitecturetoenhance

Stream Two
Commercialisation and Development
In this stream, you will discover how to acquire the right financial institution to
support your development and how to approach the commercial component
of the development. This will include exploring creative ways to expand into
international markets to increase profit. Also, learn how to invest in the right
elements of the development to promote and appeal to the market, whilst
ensuring a positive relationship between the different types of tenants.

  • 4. p a g e 4large scale events EXCLUSIVE SITE VISITS - DAY THREE friday 22nd july 2016 Site Visit 1 Eko Atlantic City Eko Atlantic City is being constructed on land reclaimed from the Atlantic Ocean using the Mixed Used Development concept. Upon completion, the new island is anticipating at least 250,000 residents with a daily flow of 150,000 commuters. The multi billion dollars, 10km2 development will have waterfront areas, tree lined streets, efficient transport systems and mixed use plots that combine residential areas with leisure facilities, offices and shops. Eko Atlantic will enhance the status of Lagos and create a new and stronger financial hub for the whole of West Africa. This City has evolved rapidly from a visionary design concept into a technological reality. Infrastructural road works and underground surface drainage pipes are already laid along major routes across the new city. Piling works are complete for the many bridges. The Great Wall of Lagos sea revetment, which is being built more than 2km offshore at 8.5m above sea level, has surpassed 5km in length and is protecting over 5,000,000m2 of Eko Atlantic and Victoria Island. Across Eko Atlantic, independent reliable electricity, advanced fibre optic telecoms, and clean water utility services are already installed below street level. With the foundations in place, this magnificent engineering and technological city is now rising. This Mixed Use Development is privately funded by South Energyx Nigeria Limited (the developers and city planners, a subsidiary of the Nigeria based Chagoury Group of Companies) working in strategic partnership with the Lagos State Government and supported by the Nigerian Federal Government. Site Visit 2 Kingsway Tower Kingsway Tower is yet another aesthetically pleasing high rise building in the busy commercial node of Lagos comprising offices, ground floor retail, restaurants and basement parking. Located in between Eko Atlantic City and the Free Trade Zone, the mixed use development theme of this building is keeping up with the new trend being seen in many new developments in Lagos expected in the coming years. The mixed used development site is on the corner of Glover Road and Kingsway Road (Alfred Rewane Way) with completion anticipated in 2017. Lekki new city will be divided into five linear development zones including the Lagoon Zone - tourism with mixed uses, commercial and business; the North Urban Zone – largely new residential; the Natural Park Zone – environmental and nature conservation park; the South Urban Zone – existing and new residential with commercial and mixed uses as well as light industry; and the Atlantic Coastal Zone – mainly tourism and recreational. The Masterplan for the FTZ which was presented and discussed with the Ministry of Urban Planning and Physical Development, local authorities and stakeholders envisages the Lekki Peninsula as a “Blue-Green” Environment City. The unique characteristics of the Atlantic Coast, Lagos Lagoon and the inland natural areas will be protected and enhanced to give The City the special natural ambience character. • 5. p a g e 5 MORE ABOUT THE EVENT large scale events Why you Cannot Miss this Event More than half of the African countries now are classified as either mid or high income nations. This has propelled the need for mixed use developments resultant to rapid urbanisation. This is driving the demand for real estate, expansion of current cities and the rise of new ones. By 2025, infrastructure spending in Sub-Saharan Africa will exceed USD180 billion per annum and will provide opportunities for real estate growth and further investments. Currently, demand for residential, high quality retail, office, commercial and industrial parks outstripped supply as more and more local and international occupiers are responding to the improving economy. As a result, over the past few years, mixed use developments have become essential to urban planning and real estate development due to its ability to offer maximised density. Mixed use developments are gaining significance as it provides a tool for governments across Africa to boost local and international tourism in the continent, a concept for developers to reduce their risks through diversification of asset classes that can act as feeders to one another, an innovation for architects and engineers to look at new trends in designs and up-to-date technologies to be incorporated into the masterplan to create a vibrant and unique mixed use development that can enhance ROI to owners. This Mixed Use Development conference will bring together experts and industry players to provide valuable advice and experience to offer participants the latest design, architectural updates and state-of-the-art engineering consideration that caters to rapid urbanisation and high density to construct greenfield and revitalise brownfield projects. The Mixed-Use model thus offers higher chances of earning ROI by providing more flexibility in land use and these projects are more self- sustainable compared to single-use projects. This would make it financially more beneficial to boost profits in the current economic situation. This conference provides the perfect platform to explore ways of designing your development to tap into diverse markets through a combination of right components, enhancing the retail element, implementing innovative energy- efficient technologies to generate higher ROI in the long term and how to establish a global brand. Follow your own agenda with a choice of two streams over the two days: Stream One Masterplanning and Design This stream will cover the elements of architecture, infrastructure, mobility and transportation and positioning of the elements in a mixed-use development. Discover how to provide well-organised traffic flow of people and vehicles throughout the development as well as optimise spatial planning and structural systems minimal intrusion into public spaces. Also, learnhowtoincorporatesustainabledesignsandarchitecturetoenhance performanceatthesametimereducesoperatingcost.Thisstreamwillalsodelveinto placemakinginitiativesandcreationof‘community’lifestyleswithinthedevelopment. Stream Two Commercialisation and Development In this stream, you will discover how to acquire the right financial institution to support your development and how to approach the commercial component of the development. This will include exploring creative ways to expand into international markets to increase profit. Also, learn how to invest in the right elements of the development to promote and appeal to the market, whilst ensuring a positive relationship between the different types of tenants.
