Aims
• To overcome Cultural/ethnical, physical, psychical as
well as age borders in group discussions.
• To make people take decisions democratically,
horizontally and participatory in an inclusive and non-
discriminatory approach.
• To foster dialogue and discussions with equal
participation of all participants regardless their age,
social background, ethnical origin or religious
belonging.
• To show clear and ordered, commonly found
conclusions to the rest of the group.

Activity (1/2)
1. Explain the dynamic
Objective: The moderator introduces the dynamic to the
group
Duration: 3 min
2. Perform the dynamic
2.1. Split the participants into groups to discuss about a
theme. (15 min)
2.2. The representative of each group presents the main
ideas discussed. (5 min)
2.3. All participants try to reach a consensus and
conclusions. (30 min)

3. Assessment
Objective: The moderating person evaluates the dynamic and assesses the
group process according to the following questions which are
discussed inthe group:
 Did everyone got to participate?
 Did everyone feel to have been heard?
 Did anyone feel excluded, disregarded, patronised?
 Did anyone put himself/herself excessively in the center?
 Who were those affected?
Elderly; younger people; group members with a different ethnical,
cultural origin; people who are less capable of the language used in
discussion; peopele with physical or psychological impairments etc.?
Haben sich alle geleichermaßen in der Gruppe akzeptiert gefühlt?
 Was the group dyncamic influenced by a hirachical structure?
 Was it a group discussion where in the end all participants met on an
equal footage and potentials and ressources of everyone could be
taken advantage of?

To take decisions in a by diversity characterised group by
consensus requires to fulfil previous conditions:
• Common goal: Everyone who attends the meeting must
have a common interest.
• Commitment to consensus: Consensus requires
commitment, patience, tolerance and a willingness to put
the group above.
• Enough time.
• Clear process: It is essential that the entire group
understands the process using the meeting.
• Good dynamic and active participation: appoint one or
more moderators.
