How to Turn a Pile of Python Files Into an Open Source Project.
You have written some Python code, you think it would be useful to the world, and you would like to give back to the open source world. But where do you start? This talk will give you some guidance on how you can release your project
This is a talk about some of the higher level topics that you need to think when design an Android app. These include architecture, security, hybrid apps, SDKs, logging, and testing.
AtlasCamp 2014: Building a Connect Add-on With Your Own StackAtlassian
Atlassian provides two easy-to-use frameworks for getting a Connect add-on up and running quickly – atlassian-connect-express and ac-play. But what if these frameworks don't quite fit your bill? What does it mean to build a Connect add-on with your own stack? What components do you need to write? And how does it all fit together? Attending this talk will give you enough background information to implement an add-on in the language and technology stack of your choice.

Microservices for the Masses with Spring Boot, JHipster, and OAuth - Utah JUG...Matt Raible
Microservices are all the rage and being deployed by many Java Hipsters. If you’re working with a large team that needs different release cycles for product components, microservices can be a blessing. If you’re working at your VW Restoration Shop and running its online store with your own software, having five services to manage and deploy can be a real pain.
Share your knowledge and experience about microservices in this informative and code-heavy talk. We’ll use JHipster (a Yeoman generator) to create Angular + Spring Boot apps on separate instances with a unified front-end. I’ll also show you options for securing your API gateway and individual applications using JWT. Heroku, Kubernetes, Docker, ELK, Spring Cloud, Okta; there will be plenty of interesting demos to see!

InVision is a collaborative design company that’s growing into Golang. That being said, when we started doing web services, we looked at using one of the middleware libraries out there such as Alice and Negroni. We found them all interesting but decided to tackle it on our own. As we did that we realized that our library was pretty cool so we broke it out and open sourced it as Rye. I’ll present on the approach we took and some of the benefits of using Rye including integration with Statsd, Context and custom middleware handlers we’ve added such as CIDR validation and JWT validation.
It’s all about REST in today’s world. Every service you look at, people are providing a REST API for it. Surprisingly, very few of these API’s are even REST, if we’re talking about REST as in a system that abides by a series of constraints making it RESTful. But the positive note is that it has brought to light the power of HTTP as an application protocol, something very often undervalued and misunderstood, even today.
This talk is going to focus on the core values of HTTP for what it is. It will cover all aspects including
Headers
Error Management
Verbs
Content Negotiation
Caching
Security
Messages
Request and Responses
In essence you'll understand HTTP much better, learn to differentiate an HTTP API from a system with RESTful constraints and also understand benefits of providing REST API - if such a thing were to exist of course!

Whether you are building a mobile app or a web app, Apache Usergrid (incubating) can provide you with a complete backend that supports authentication, persistence and social features like activities and followers all via a comprehensive REST API — and backed by Cassandra, giving you linear scalability. This session will tell you what you need to know to be a Usergrid contributor, starting with the basics of building and running Usergrid from source code. You’ll learn how to find your way around the Usergrid code base, how the code for the Stack, Portal and SDKs and how to use the test infrastructure to test your changes to Usergrid. You’ll learn the Usergrid contributor workflow, how the project uses JIRA and Github to manage change and how to contribute your changes to the project. The session will also cover the Usergrid roadmap and what the community is currently working on.
Connexion is an open source API first REST framework for Python, built on top of Flask and based on OpenAPI/Swagger, targeted for microservice development. Connexion automagically handles request routing, oauth2 security, request validation and response serialization based on an OpenAPI 2.0 Specification file in YAML, so you don’t have to care about boilerplate anymore.
Because it is based on Flask it supports everything that Flask does, including deployment options and extensions.
At Zalando we’ve adopted “API First” as one of our key engineering principles, to ensure our API are robust, consistent, general and
abstracted from specific implementation and use cases. But when we tried to implement this principle for the first time we were faced with the lack of a python framework to achieve it in a easy fashion - there were several frameworks that produce a swagger definition from the
implementation but none that do it the other way around - so we decided to fill that gap.
Henning will show how to get started with OpenAPI+Connexion, present some real-world use cases and deployment options such as Kubernetes.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
Gopinath Rebala
Gopinath Rebala is the CTO of OpsMx, where he has overall responsibility for the machine learning and data processing architectures for Secure Software Delivery. Gopi also has a strong connection with our customers, leading design and architecture for strategic implementations. Gopi is a frequent speaker and well-known leader in continuous delivery and integrating security into software delivery.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
