- Do this, put you in the center of a piece of paper or use an app like padlet/mindmeister.
- Connect yourself to the people who you learn from.
- When I first started teaching this was my ecosystem
- Common ideas, echo chamber, nothing new/innovative/interesting….safe
- When we analyze this as a part of a full day workshop
- analyze all the connections teacher to teach and teacher to digital world we learn a valuable lesson about how strong our networks are.
- Not Electrophoresis gel. Learning happens in education.
- Never going to get change at this rate
- Need a constant drip, an IV bag, something that’s constantly feeding us information, new ideas, innovative, risky, exciting opportunities to change our thinking
- Being connected means we can learn from anyone, anywhere, at any time.
- The hard part is plugging in. Be open to thinking differently and being willing to connect.
- Beware of the Crab Mentality. Those around you will discount, discredit and try to lure you back into the echo chamber. Like crabs in a bucket.
- You have a chance with being connected. You have a chance to be the outlier. To do things differently, to think differently, to dive into new resources.
- Studies show, You are the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with. Take a moment. Does that scare you?
- Challenge myself like I challenge you today. Choose to find the best, be a round the best, learn form the best, wherever they are.
- Because I’m connected I get the opportunity to reach out and ask for help. I ask for help from some of the biggest names in education. Here’s Dan Pink

- You can also use FlipBoard. It’s a beautiful way to make websites look like a magazine and make reading enjoyable
- Podcasts - my new favorite iPhone/iPad
- Tons of great options - TV/radio show that feeds seamlessly into your mobile device.
- If you do nothing. Spend 10-20 minutes a week, maybe even a day. Need something to do for lent? Watch one a day. Watching these will change you.
- After you are done consuming, start an account on a social networking site. Phase 2 - involves Lurking. Lurking gives you time to figure out what to say, when to say it.
- Phase 3 - After lurking reach out to Connect.

- This is manuel and bob. Both members of the Connected learning team. We were hanging out at a local establishment. They look like they are ignoring each other but actually

- Participating in #moedchat. Twitter chat where missouri educators get together and each week there is a new topic of conversation and you can add, lurk, or challenge others.
- #edchat is where all educators go to interact, but you can find a hashtag that fits what you need to flu your IV bag of new tools, resources, contact, etc. In fact hashtags are really taking over.
- Recently read the book. Gary Vaynerchuck about using social media and his main message is simple.
- Jab, Jab, Jab - means give, give, give
- Giving is the key to being connected.
- Worst thing in the world.
- Facebook is also used to connect
- One of my favorite is Edchat.
- Edchat is a great resource supporting you if you’re on facebook. Problem is with Facebook’s algorithm. That has changed the wa information gets to you, so you may miss a story.
- Not on twitter of Facebook. Those are a little to “open” for you. Check one of these. Ed PLN - site dedicated to the support of a Personal Learning Network for Educators Class2.0 - community for educators using Web 2.0 and collaborative technologies Edmodo - Social networking for educators, students and connecting with one another. Flipped - Networking for flipped educators
- Kagan - even a discussion board for collaborative strategies.
- Have a gmail account?

- Google Communities fantastic way to engage with educates and learn collabortively.
- Tons of great resources, something for everyone,
- discover new ways to connect with educators.
- Pinterest is a great tool to connect with other educators
- Curate content to share with others Organize ideas for a topic Collaborate with shared boards involve students. Allow them to build boards (age appropriate)
- It is, it should be and you should advocate for time to do it.
- Tons of great stuff added to the web every day. TeachAde is a helpful community for educators and teachers that provides free educational resources where educators and teachers can share information, EDUCLIPPER - educational need for teachers and students to have a better platform to explore, share, and contribute resources and materials to help enhance teaching and learning of both a formal and personal nature Teaching Channel - videos of teachers teaching and reflecting on their lesson. WOW.
