The document discusses Pearson's correlation coefficient (r), which measures the strength and direction of the linear relationship between two numeric variables. It explains that r gets stronger as the data points cluster more tightly around a straight line, and weaker if they resemble a circle. Positive correlations indicate variables increase together, while negative correlations mean one increases as the other decreases. However, correlation does not necessarily imply causation. The document cautions that categorical variables like gender cannot be correlated since r requires two numeric variables.
TCP is a connection-based protocol that provides reliable data transfer between computers. It is based on a four-layer model and provides ordered, error-free transmission of data through features like flow control and congestion control. Java's java.net package supports system-independent network communication. URLs identify Internet resources and have a standardized syntax consisting of parts like the protocol, host, port, and file name. Sockets represent endpoints for two-way communication between programs over a network, while server sockets listen for and accept client connections on a specific port. UDP is a lightweight alternative to TCP that is faster but unreliable and unordered.

It also discusses aspects of colonial culture such as attire, education controlled by the church, literature and art used to spread Christianity, and architecture like churches, forts, and Bahay na Bato homes. Health conditions were managed primarily by Catholic friars who cared for the sick and learned about indigenous medical plants.
The document summarizes two groups that resisted Spanish conquest in the Philippines: the Igorots and Muslims. The Igorots lived in the mountains and resisted Spanish efforts to find gold in their mines and Christianize them. Meanwhile, the Muslims had established sultanates in parts of Mindanao and resisted Spanish domination through wars. Both groups maintained independence from Spain in their respective regions due to their ability to repel missionaries and military forces sent to occupy their lands.
The document summarizes the major revolts against Spanish rule in the Philippines over 333 years. It outlines the key causes of the revolts as issues relating to religion, abusive economic policies like taxes and forced labor, land grabbing, and the desire for political power. The Yi Dynasty established Korea's last dynasty, considered its Golden Age. King Sejong advanced technology but Korea faced invasions from Japan and China. In the 19th century, traders arrived but Korea closed its borders to avoid colonization, becoming known as the "Hermit Kingdom." In 1864, 13-year old King Gojong took the throne but his father ruled as regent. The regent tried to unify warring groups but Japan colonized Korea by 1910 despite Gojong proclaiming an empire in 1897 to assert independence. Korea resisted Western colonization but could not avoid colonization by neighboring Asian power Japan.
The Shang civilization was one of the oldest in China, located along the Huang Ho (Yellow River) valley around 5,000 years ago. Some key contributions of the Shang civilization include the development of impressive bronze technology and the earliest form of writing in China through the use of oracle bones, which featured carved symbols that developed into Chinese characters. The Shang civilization was also characterized by a stratified social class system, palatial architecture, and elaborate religious rituals centered around venerating ancestors and spirits.
The document outlines the timeline of world history from prehistory to modern times. It divides world history into two periods: prehistory, before writing was invented; and history, after writing allowed events to be recorded. Prehistory is further divided into the Stone Age, Bronze Age, and Iron Age. The Stone Age includes the Paleolithic Age (Old Stone Age), Mesolithic Age, and Neolithic Age (New Stone Age). The Paleolithic Age saw early humans' absolute dependence on nature and use of stone tools. Agriculture and animal domestication began in the Neolithic Age.
The Indus Valley civilization dates back at least 5,000 years to 3,000 BC and was located along the Indus River in what is now Pakistan and northwest India. The ruins of two major cities, Mohenjo-Daro and Harappa, provide evidence of well-developed urban planning and civil engineering. Agriculture, trade, and skilled crafts like pottery and jewelry making formed the economic basis of cities whose residents lived in brick houses under a system governed by priest-kings.
The Sumerian civilization originated in Mesopotamia between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers in modern-day Iraq around 5500 BC. Mesopotamia was a fertile region where many city-states developed, including Ur, Uruk, Eridu, Lagash and Kish. The Sumerians made advances in writing, mathematics, astronomy, agriculture and engineering, developing irrigation systems, the wheel, plow and the world's first codified legal and administrative systems. However, constant warfare between the independent city-states drained Sumer's strength and it was eventually conquered by the Babylonians in 1759 BC, marking the end of the Sumerian civilization.

Lucid Dreaming: Understanding the Risks and Benefits
The ability to control one's dreams or for the dreamer to be aware that he or she is dreaming. This process, called lucid dreaming, has some potential risks as well as many fascinating benefits. However, many people are hesitant to try it initially for fear of the potential dangers. This article aims to clarify these concerns by exploring both the risks and benefits of lucid dreaming.
The Benefits of Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming allows a person to take control of their dream world, helping them overcome their fears and eliminate nightmares. This technique is particularly useful for mental health. By taking control of their dreams, individuals can face challenging scenarios in a controlled environment, which can help reduce anxiety and increase self-confidence.
Addressing Common Concerns
Physical Harm in Dreams Lucid dreaming is fundamentally safe. In a lucid dream, everything is a creation of your mind. Therefore, nothing in the dream can physically harm you. Despite the vividness and realness of the dream experience, it remains entirely within your mental landscape, posing no physical danger.
Mental Health Risks Concerns about developing PTSD or other mental illnesses from lucid dreaming are unfounded. As soon as you wake up, it's clear that the events experienced in the dream were not real. On the contrary, lucid dreaming is often seen as a therapeutic tool for conditions like PTSD, as it allows individuals to reframe and manage their thoughts.
Potential Risks of Lucid Dreaming
While generally safe, lucid dreaming does come with a few risks as well:
Mixing Dream Memories with Reality Long-term lucid dreamers might occasionally confuse dream memories with real ones, creating false memories. This issue is rare and preventable by maintaining a dream journal and avoiding lucid dreaming about real-life people or places too frequently.
Escapism Using lucid dreaming to escape reality can be problematic if it interferes with your daily life. While it is sometimes beneficial to escape and relieve the stress of reality, relying on lucid dreaming for happiness can hinder personal growth and productivity.
Feeling Tired After Lucid Dreaming Some people report feeling tired after lucid dreaming. This tiredness is not due to the dreams themselves but often results from not getting enough sleep or using techniques that disrupt sleep patterns. Taking breaks and ensuring adequate sleep can prevent this.
Mental Exhaustion Lucid dreaming can be mentally taxing if practiced excessively without breaks. It’s important to balance lucid dreaming with regular sleep to avoid mental fatigue.

Lição 12: João 15 a 17 – O Espírito Santo e a Oração Sacerdotal | 2° Trimestr...OmarBarrezueta1
Astronism, Cosmism and Cosmodeism: the space religions espousing the doctrine...Cometan
This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Finally, the lecture concludes with some contributions made by space religions and space philosophy and their influences on various cultural facets in art, literature and film.

The pervasiveness of Lying in today's World.pptxniwres
In our interconnected world, lies weave through the fabric of society like hidden threads. We encounter them in politics, media, personal relationships, and even within ourselves. The prevalence of deception raises profound questions about truth, trust, and the human condition.
Introduction
Mantra Yoga is an exact science. "Mananat trayate iti mantrah- by the Manana (constant thinking or recollection) of which one is protected or is released from the round of births and deaths, is Mantra." That is called Mantra by the meditation (Manana) on which the Jiva or the individual soul attains freedom from sin, enjoyment in heaven and final liberation, and by the aid of which it attains in full the fourfold fruit (Chaturvarga), i.e., Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. A Mantra is so called because it is achieved by the mental process.
The Book of Revelation, filled with symbolic and apocalyptic imagery, presents one of its most striking visions in Revelation 9:3-12—the locust army. Understanding the significance of this locust army provides insight into the broader themes of divine judgment, protection, and the ultimate triumph of God’s will as depicted in Revelation.

2. • The Lun-yü (Analects) are the most revered
sacred scripture in the Confucian tradition. It
was probably compiled by the second
generation of Confucius' disciples. Based
primarily on the Master's sayings, preserved in
both oral and written transmissions, it captures
the Confucian spirit in the same way that the
Platonic dialogues embody Socratic teachings.
3. • The Confucian Canon achieved its present form in the Sung
dynasty under the direction of Chu Hsi (1130-1200). It
consists of the Five Classics and the Four Books.
• The Five Classics are:
• Shu Ching (Classic of History) - collection of documents and
speeches dating from the Later Han Dynasty (23-220 CE)
• Shih Ching (Classic of Odes) - collection of 300 poems and
songs from the early Chou Dynasty (1027-402 BC)
• I Ching (Classic of Changes) - collection of texts on divination
based on a set of 64 hexagrams that reflect the relationship
between Yin and Yang in nature and society
• Ch'un Ching (Spring and Autumn Annals) - extracts from the
history of the state of Lu 722-484, said to be compiled by
Confucius
• Li Ching (Classic of Rites) - consists of three books on the Li
(Rites of Propriety)
4. • The Four Books are:
• Lun Yu (Analects) of Confucius
• Chung Yung (Doctrine of the Mean)
• Ta Hsueh (Great Learning)
• Meng Tzu (Mencius)
5. To sum up his life
“At 15 I set my heart on learning;
at 30 I firmly took my stand;
at 40 I had no delusions;
at 50 I knew the Mandate of Heaven;
at 60 my ear was attuned;
at 70 I followed my heart's desire without
overstepping the boundaries of right”.
6. • Ren
• Ren is one of the basic virtues promoted by
Confucius, and is an obligation of altruism and
humaneness for other individuals within a
community. It is best expressed in the Confucian
version of the Ethic of reciprocity, or the Golden
Rule: "do not do unto others what you would
not have them do unto you.“
• Etiquette
• conventional requirements as to social behavior
;proprieties of conduct as established in any clas
sor community or for any occasion.
7. • Loyalty
• Loyalty is particularly relevant for the social class to
which most of Confucius' students belonged,
because the only way for an ambitious young
scholar to make his way in the Confucian Chinese
world was to enter a ruler's civil service. In later
ages, however, emphasis was placed more on the
obligations of the ruled to the ruler, and less on the
ruler's obligations to the ruled.
• Loyalty was also an extension of one's duties to
friends, family, and spouse. Loyalty to one's family
came first, then to one's spouse, then to one's
ruler, and lastly to one's friends. Loyalty was
considered one of the greater human virtues.
8. • Filial piety
• "Filial piety" is considered among the greatest of
virtues and must be shown towards both the living
and the dead (including even remote ancestors).
The term "filial" (meaning "of a child")
characterizes the respect that a child, originally a
son, should show to his parents. This relationship
was extended by analogy to a series of five
relationships.
• The Five Bonds
• Ruler to Ruled
• Father to Son
• Husband to Wife
• Elder Brother to Younger Brother
• Friend to Friend.
9. • The gentleman
• Confucianism exhorts all people to strive for the
ideal of a "gentleman" or "perfect man". A
succinct description of the "perfect man" is one
who "combines the qualities of saint, scholar,
and gentleman." In modern times the masculine
translation in English is also traditional and is
still frequently used. Elitism was bound up with
the concept, and gentlemen were expected to
act as moral guides to the rest of society.
10. TAOISM
Laozi (Chinese: 老子; pinyin: Lǎozǐ; Wade–Giles: Lao
Tzu; also romanized as Lao Tse, Lao Tu, Lao-
Tsu, Laotze, Laosi, Laocius, and other variations)
was a philosopher of ancient China, best known as
the author of the Tao Te Ching (often simply
referred to asLaozi).[1] His association with the Tao
Te Ching has led him to be traditionally considered
the founder of philosophical Taoism(pronounced as
"Daoism"). He is also revered as a deity in most
religious forms of Taoist philosophy, which often
refers to Laozi asTaishang Laojun, or "One of
the Three Pure Ones".
11. The Tao Te Ching, often called simply Laozi after
its reputed author, describes the Dao (or Tao) as
the source and ideal of all existence: it is
unseen, but not transcendent, immensely
powerful yet supremely humble, being the root
of all things.

13. • Guru Nanak [1] (Punjabi: Hindi:
Urdu: [ ɡʊɾu ˈ nɑnək] Gurū Nānak)
(15 April 1469 – 22 September 1539) was the
founder of the religion of Sikhism and the first of
the ten Sikh Gurus.
• The Sikh Gurus established Sikhism from over the
centuries beginning in the year 1469. Sikhism was
founded by the first guru, Guru Nanak, and
subsequently, all in order were referred to as
"Nanak", and as "Lights", making their teachings in
the holy scriptures, equivalent. There are a total of
11 gurus, of which the current, and everlasting,
Sikh Guru is the integrated Sikh scriptures known as
the Adi Granth or, Siri Guru Granth Sahib.
14. • Ik stands for the Gurmukhi numeral "One".
• On is a combination or O and An stands for
"Everything".
• Kar is inferred and stands for "Creator".
• Sant Sipahi stands for the Sikh concept of "Warrior
Saint". The two words 'Sant' and 'Sipahi' can be
translated as:
• Sant is used to refer to a wise, knowledgeable and
Dharmic person or a "person with knowledge of
God". Sometimes it is naively translated as "Saint".
• Sipahi means Warrior or Soldier.
15. • The first word in this phrase is "Sant" and so this
has domination and means that the first duty of the
Sikh is to be a "Sant" or to be a wise and
knowledgeable person.
• The second word in the phrase is "Sapahi". So this
"Sant" should also be a soldier able to fight and
engage in warfare. A Sikh who cannot fight cannot
be a "Sant-Sapahi" and would be lacking in the
required qualities. So the second duty of a Sikh is to
be able and ready to fight for a worthy cause and
for the protection of righteousness and the weak.
So the idea for being a warrior is to protect and
defend the weak and oneself from any tyrants and
bullies. Sikhs are taught to be kind as well as
fearless.
16. • The essential feature of a gurdwara is the
presiding presence in it of the holy Sikh
Scripture, called the Guru Granth Sahib also
referred to as Satguru.
17. • The Langar or free kitchen was started by the first Sikh
Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji. It is designed to uphold the
principle ofequality between all people of the world
regardless of religion, caste, colour, creed, age, gender
or social status. In addition to the ideals of equality,
the tradition of Langar expresses the ethics of sharing,
community, inclusiveness and oneness of all
umankind. "..the Light of God is in all hearts." 282
