My View On Public Speaking From Bob s Anthem
During your lifetime, you would be thrown many bricks. Many of them you would be able to
build a castle to show your success, but some of them can destroy your hard work. Unfortunately
for me, I thought that COMM 101 was going to destroy my life. I hated the thought of presenting
in front people. In many circumstances, I wish this class was not required. However, since the
first day of class, I began to have a feelingthis class was not going to be like the rest. Bob, my
professor, did not want us to address him by his last name. He had also given all of us Burger
King Crown, and to this date I still wonder where he got a large amount of them. If you are
willing to get past your fears, you will be able to succeed in a communicationclass. In all honesty,
there were three main components that made me change my view on public speaking from Bob s
anthem, My Personal Belief , to the informal presentations, and the formal presentations. I have
never had a class where a professor had made an anthem for their students. Anthems can be used
as a celebration or it can act as empowerment for the people. Bob s anthem went like this, I believe
in myself. I can do anything I put my mindto. I have a personal power that guides me to create
EVERYTHING that is good. My inner voice is my best GPS. It guides me and I trust it. The only
thing I have to do is spread my wing and soar. I AM DESTINED FOR GREATNESS! It was a
class necessity to say My Personal Belief in the beginning

Character Award
I was the vice president of the student body and then president because the president at that time
couldn t fulfill her duties during my 8th grade year. I was in charge of arranging meetings with the
advisor and also with the class officers, organizing events for the school, and bring monthly reports
to the Executive Board of our school. We were required to have 1 meeting a month with the class
officers and advisor. I needed to be able to communicate well with my individual class officers
also have superior leadership skills. I had to have one year of experience, and expertise on how to
run individual class meetings.
2.The Character Award was an opportunity to recognize students, in grades 6th 8th, in our school
who demonstrate exceptional leadership while incorporating life skills like Caring, Honesty,
Respect and Responsibility into their everyday lives. I got this award all three years. I also
enjoyed getting this award because it was a great way to hear what my teachers thought of me as
an individual and as a student. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When I was presented these awards in 8th and 9th grade, it felt very special to me. Not just
because it s just another medal I can hang up in my room but for the reason of getting it. My
grades weren t the best in those classes. I surely didn t have the highest average in the class, I
knew that for a fact. It doesn t take someone who has the highest grade and test grades in the
class to be a leader. It does take a person who can lead everyone to a common goal. Actions speak
way louder than titles. I don t need a title to help people or to know my strengths. You shouldn t

Essay Cover Letter For Store Manager
Cover Letter: Academy Sports + Outdoors | 1800 N Mason Rd, Katy, TX 77449
Re: Store Manager Operations position | SW Raleigh, NC (New Store) | Raleigh, NC, 27523
INTRODUCTION
I am proud to present my resume for the position of Store Manager Operations. I m excited by the
prospect of returning to retail, managing store level operations, providing outstanding customer
service, driving sales, and being responsible for the learning, growth, and development of the next
generation of retail leaders!
I have the skills and qualifications to accomplish everything you re looking for in a retail manager,
and I can contribute much more. I ve been in retail my entire adult life (except the last 15 months),
and I have a tremendous record of success ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Your associates delivered beyond expectations, and she ended up returning the product to your
competitor and purchasing from you because of it. So I visited your store while I was in town
(Cumming, GA). I m impressed with the store layout, the service, and the quality of retailing, in
general. And being an outdoor/sports enthusiast, the positive experience resonated with me. I did
more research after returning to the Raleigh area, and I m excited to learn that you re opening a
store nearby.
ABOUT MY RESUME
I have enormous respect for tradition, but occasionally it creates barriers to success. For example,
recapping 20+ years of responsibilities, achievements, purposeful skill development, and complex
contributions in two pages doesn t do justice to recruiters, hiring managers, employers, or people
changing careers. And Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) add more restrictions and nuances to the
process.
The resume I ve submitted attempts to summarize my most relevant experience based on the job
description, but the chances are good that you ll be looking for things that didn t make the cut. Rest
assured, if it s related to retail, leadership, management, general business acumen, operations,
training, communications, sales, or customer service, I probably have in depth experience. But
even if I don t, I ll figure it out quickly, guaranteed.
WHY ME?
My resume just covers the highlights.

Downtown Victoria Architectural Analysis
Downtown Victoria is filled with a great deal of architectural structures that vary in style from old
Eurocentric to modern. As you walk the streets of Downtown Victoria it is hard not to notice the
beautiful Eurocentric inspired buildings that make you feel as if you are touring an old city in
Europe. Although many of the more unique buildings are small, they display plenty of character
through their colours, shape and materials. Victoriahas modernized some aspects of its architecture
but it has managed to keep many of its aged and Eurocentric inspired buildings that capture Victoria
s character. As I roam the streets of Downtown Victoria what catches my eye instantly are the
Eurocentric looking buildings. There is something especially about... Show more content on

I took a sunny afternoon to take a walking tour of Downtown Victoria and there were various
buildings that gave me different feelings as well as having my mind make connections to
buildings I ve seen elsewhere. First being 560 Yates Street s Oriental Building, where I was
reminded of a New York Citystyle apartment which was short, made of rustic red brick,
displaying rounded window followed by having that tinted brown giving it that old and dirty
look. Then there was a sudden switch as I came across 1675 Douglas Street s Terasen Gas
Building. The Terasen Gas building was very generic and modern office looking building. This
type of building was one where if you came across a photo of it, you wouldn t be able to pin
point where it came from, meaning it could be anywhere in the world. The last and top favourite
building that struck out to me was Centennial Square s City Hall building. This building was my
favourite for various reasons one being able to capture that Eurocentric feel that happens to be
one of my favourite styles of buildings. It also really captured the eye with its bold red brick
colour and unique shape; it s almost impossible to miss. The outstanding thing about Victoria is the
fact that its kept so many of its older structures and is still able to give the small city character.
Often with big cities there is constant

The Destruction Of The Ganges River In The United States
Pete Seeger sang, sailing up my dirty stream, still I love it and I ll keep the dream
. All around
the world, rivers that are culturally and economically important are being polluted. Three examples
of this unfortunate phenomena are the Ganges River in India, the Han River in Korea, and the
Hudson River in the United States.
Hindus consider the Ganges to be the goddess Ganga personified. They believe that bathing in the
river is cleansing, resulting in the forgiveness of sins and salvation. All people, it is believed,
should experience this sacred river at least once in their life. Many important festivals take place
along the banks of this river. The Ganges River also irrigates a large area of farmland, where rice,
sugarcane, lentils and wheat are grown. Unfortunately, the Ganges River has been polluted by
sewage, trash, food, and human and animal remains, and industrial waste. Water borne illnesses,
including cholera, hepatitis, typhoid and amoebic dysentery are widespread. Although a very
important river to the people of India, the Ganges is also a very polluted river. ... Show more content

Ganghwa Island, at the mouth of the river, guards the only water route to the capital, Seoul. The
Han River has long been used as a route for trade, diplomacy, and cultural and technological
exchange with China by way of the Yellow Sea. Even today Psy sings about the importance of
living south of the river. These days, the Han River is still important, providing drinking water and
irrigation for agriculture and generating hydroelectric power. However, the Han River is also
polluted. There is industrial pollution, as well as farm runoff containing fertilizers, insecticides, and
manure from area farms. These pollutants result in gastrointestinal and respiratory diseases for the
people who depend on this river. The Han River is another example of an important river that has

The Endless Steppe Essay
Knowing is not enough, we must apply. Willing is not enough, we must do. (Johann von Goethe)
The Endless Steppe by Esther Hautzig is a novel about a family s determination to survive. In the
novel it tells of how determination, the human ability to adopt, and happiness can hold a family
together and help them even preserver over all odds. In addition, The Endless Steppe tells of
Reisa, Ryia, and Esther tales of how they overcame these ordeals and survived in Siberia in their
own way. The theme of this book is that the human capacity to adapt to and find happiness in the
most difficult circumstances. Each character in the novel shows this in their way. For instance,

The second person that illustrated the theme of the book was Esther s mother Raya. Raya
showed this by always keeping a positive attitude, which raises the spirits around her. For
instance, in the novel her husband went off to war, his entire battalion was wiped out and
everyone had given up hope of him returning except for her. She kept saying, Be sure to get some
farmer s cheese, the kind he adores. Her positive attitude paid off in the end after everyone
thought she was grief ridden she proved them wrong when he returned. In addition, her positive
attitude did pay off again when he husband was thought to be lost in a when he did not return for
work. Everyone was starting to be worried and lose hope but she continued to hope and believe
and tell the others to and he returned again. That is how Raya illustrated the theme of the book by
maintaining her positive attitude and encouraging others around her with it. The third person that
illustrated the theme of the book was Esther. Esther showed the theme of the book by the ability to
accept change and her love for her family, which held them together. For instance, when she was
forced for her home on the train she was scared and she did not know what the future held for her
but she pursued on. She even did not even complain in situations that other people would. In
addition, she also had to endure not having her own space, new roommates, even different schools,

James A. Reed Memorial Wildlife Area is an asset to the community that should be visited by all.
James A. Reed offers stocked lakes and ponds that total up to two hundred fifty acres. In 1957
the Missouri Department of Conservation started the construction of the water holes. There are
a total of twelve lakes which are all fishable. The biggest lake (Catclaw Lake) is just over forty
two acres and located on the outer edge of the Conservation ground. The Department dug the
lakes based on the traffic of wildlife in the area. All are stocked yearly and monitored to keep the
fish population even between the lakes. Every lake has at least largemouth bass, channel catfish,
crappie, bluegill, green sunfish, redear sunfish, and bullheads. Only four of the lakes contain
striped bass hybrids. There is only a limited amount of fish one can keep so fishing is mainly just
catch and release. There are three docks provided for fishing throughout the entire acreage; the
rest of the fishing is done off shore, on the banks, or in a boat. There are two boats that can be
rented out for the day and they are offered only on Gopher Lake. There is one boat ramp for
visitors but only four boats are allowed on the lake at a time. There are so many amazing features
that James A. Reed offers to the public. They offer an archery range for people to practice. There
are twenty nine stations throughout the course and provide the targets for the users. They also have

lack of respect people today.
This study has an important contribution to the understanding that there are Dysfunctional
Customers , and that their behaviours equate serious consequences, and in the new era the
number of them is increasing. Those customers always wish payless or to not pay, those who
doesn t obey rules of the company, use to abuse employees verbally or even physically,
customers who gets in detailed arguments with other employees about company and they are
customers who always makes hurdle for company and so on and so forth, and we might
encounter some of them that will scream at you or some will just be okay. Some of them will
down your principle, even your personality or we can say that some of them are just over
reacting to the point that they are already below their belt. They misbehave because they know
that the management does not want to lose them. Customers are used to tell the famous slogan in

Foolishness Quotes In Hamlet
Hamlet A Character of Foolishness and Wisdom
I am going to be sharing my thoughts on the character of Hamlet from Shakespeare s play entitled
Hamlet. The fact Shakespeare named the play after Hamlet is our first clue that he is a complicated
character who will be important to the entire play. Hamlet is the character who drives the story line
of the play. However, Hamlet speaks of providence which means he recognizes another power
driving his and his family and friends lives. Although Hamlet is trying to right a wrong, his father
s murder, he does not achieve this in a direct manner. He does not find the truth and quickly act to
see justice done. He stumbles and falls along the plot achieving his goal in the end, but he foolishly
kills a man himself and he often has strange behaviors and sayings. Although Hamlet is honored at
the end of the play his personality exhibits a combination of both foolishness and wisdom. ... Show

art. The featured advertisement is for Heinz Ketchup. It includes a garish red backdrop. It also
features something that looks like a classic bottle of Heinz ketchup, but actually are horizontally
sliced tomatoes bundled on top of each other in the shape of the classic ketchup bottle. The text

Even an advertisement about a universally known brand has the potential to be interpreted in
various ways. In the Heinz example, a consumer may see the sliced ketchup bottle as an abstract
sculpture, and therefore associate the company with innovation and art. By stating No one grows
ketchup like Heinz , they are saying that their ketchup uses natural and fresh ingredients, unlike
other competing brands. Ketchup is made in a factory and by any means isn t grown . However, the
text below the picture reads otherwise. By this, the marketers transform a sugary condiment into a
wholesome, raw ingredient. This is clearly an attempt by the advertisers to assign a healthy
connotation to ketchup. Not only are the advertisers attaching a nutritional aspect to ketchup, they
are redefining ketchup perhaps in an attempt to promote a healthier way of

Theme Of Nature Vs Nurture In Frankenstein
In Frankenstein, Mary Shelley explores the argument of nature versus nurture. The conflict of
nature versus nurture is displayed throughout the Gothic novel and in the development of the
characters. When looking at an argument such as nature versus nurture, the side one may want to
assume is difficult to find. Mary Shelley displays points in the novel to allow the reader to see
both sides of the argument, giving each side valid points. The shifts in tone and mood when
nature is displayed shows an immediate nurturing factor in the novel. The shifts allow the story to
keep pace, and not become to stagnant. The display of character development with a lack of
nurturing shows that without nurturing, humans are still able to develop with a sense of integrity.
Mary Shelley displays the theme of nature vs. nurture immediately with the development of
Walton in the letters. Robert saving the stranger outside of his ship from the cold and nursing
him back to health shows a nurturing side from Robert. When the mysterious man regains
conscience and realizes what is happening, he is greeted by a crew member who warns him,
[h]ere is our captain, and he will allow you to perish on the open sea (Shelley 10). Walton and his
crew take the man in and nurture him back to near full health. Walton shows an immediate aspect
of nurturing, I have persuaded him to remain in the cabin, for he is far too weak to sustain the
rawness of the atmosphere. (Shelley 12). The reader disconnects from

Essay about Aristotle’s Three Categories of Friendships
Friendships are special relationships that begin the development of social skills in each human
person. Every time we open the door to form new friendships it begins with an experimental and
holistic practice of philosophy and science. Whether we recognize the use of philosophy and
science or not it s being applied to shape friendships. The formation and bond of friendships has
been studied for many years through science, philosophy, and theology. The point of this paper is
to give the point of view and purpose of friendshipaccording to science, philosophy, and theology
and how it is applied to our everyday life. For years the formation of friendship has been evaluated

In order for the bond to last for a lifetime, self disclosure and supportiveness also needs to continue.
In life there are many changes that can cause a true friendship to go wary such as marriage, divorce,
birth of children, new careers, and sickness. However, through each of those events the two must
remember to keep the intimacy, the letting down of emotional barriers and the expression of
innermost thoughts and feelings, that which makes friendships thrive must be an enjoyable one
and to always interact (Karbo 3). Although psychologists continue to research the formation of
friendships the great philosopher Aristotle knew exactly how friendships formed and how the
lasted. In the book Aristotle and the Philosophy of Friendship, (based off the Nicomachean Ethics)
the author, Pangle, informed the audience that Aristotle believe in three different types of
friendships based off three different types of motives: Friendships of Utility, Friendships of
Pleasure, and Perfect Friendship. He identifies these types of friendships as different types of
sources of affection that are lovable as the good, the pleasant, and the useful. Before analyzing
Aristotle three types of friendships we must first understand what he meant by friendship. During
Aristotle s rein friendship was commonly known as the love one person had for another. Philia,
brotherly love, was essential

Kinsella (1976) defined protein functionality as those physical and chemical properties which
affect the behavior of proteins in food systems during processing, storage, prepration and
consumption. Proteins are linked to functional properties such as solubility, water binding,
gelation, foaming and color, whereas starch is associated with solubility, swelling, water
absorption, viscosity, and gelatinize (Bressani, 1985). Functional properties are physicochemical
properties that give information on how a food ingredient will behave in food system. The
functionality of plantain and okara flours can logically be attributed to its chemical components
as determined by raw materials processing and storage conditions. Properties such as solubility,
viscosity, water and fat binding, emulsification, foaming and gelation are of general interest
(Hermansson, 1979). The method of Okaka and Potter (1977) with some modifications was used
for determining the swelling capacity of okara and plantain flours. Foaming capacity and foaming
stability were determined as described by Narayana and Narasinga Rao, (1982) with slight
modifications. Fracture strength of biscuits was measured with the help of Texture Analyzer

defined as a progressive genetic disorder that causes children to age rapidly, beginning in their
first two years of life. Progeria only affects one in eight million people in the world. The term
Progeria is gathered from the Greek word geras, meaning old age. Children with progeria usually

Every moment, second, minute, hour, and day go by you get older. You cannot stop agingno matter
what you do. It is something that everything that lives does.
The older you get the more medical problems you have. The older you get the more you body
starts to break down. That s why it is so important to maintain a healthy life style while you are
growing. If you didn t take care of your body while you was young it will be hard to maintain
good health when you are older. Eating the right foods, staying active, and taking vitamins are
three simple steps to keeping the body in good shape. When you are young you do want to live in

It takes an older person a long time to build their immune system as well as heal bones like
younger people. Because of the aging of the body when an old person fall it takes longer to

Theme Of Materialism In A Perfect Day For Bananafish
A marriage between a man and a woman is scared. You vow to have and to hold, for better, for
worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part. This is the conflict
seen in the short story, A Perfect Day for Bananafish by J.D. Salinger. We are provided with
Muriel Glass, the wife that disregards her vows and is more into materialism than the importance
of Seymour Glass, her husband and his emotional well being upon returning from World War II. In
this story materialism as I am using it, is the meaning of being so consumed in physical
appearance or the acquisition of wealth, accompanied with the appetite of material possessions,
rather than with spiritual values. We see the illustration of how the personality of being materialist
versus on one that relies on emotional wellbeing clash and collide. Obtaining a personality like the
one of Muriel generates a blindness to what truly is important in life, especially in a successful
marriage.
Focusing on the Muriel Glass as the main issue, we see a numerous amount of evidence as to
why she is so self centered. Most important so incredibly into being materialist that she totally
ignores signs that her husband needs her emotional support through this tough time. The first
signs we see to prove that Muriel is into physical appearance is on page three where J.D. Salinger
writes, She washed her comb and brush. She took the spot out of the skirt of her beige suit. She
moved the button on her Saks blouse. She tweezed out two freshly surfaced hairs in her mole.
With that we get the knowledge of someone who is definitely vain. We now know that Muriel
uses up her time to look impressive and make sure she is clean cut. Another critical sign that she
is very object orientated is on page eleven during, the telephone conversation with her mother in
which she states, You remember that awful dinner dress we saw in Bonwit s window? ... She had
it on. And all hips. (Salinger) The indication from this is that she judges others based on what they
are wearing. Concluding, that she is into clothing and how it is worn, especially how others wear
it. We even get the sense that she is into luxurious items because Bonwits was a luxury department

it, Louisiana would not be able to supply seafood and wildlife. Another concern, is the land going
under and people could lose their homes. According to Allured and Martin, the destruction of the
wetlands came from the coastal and offshore oil and gas development (p.332). Also, there is some
thought that humans play a role in the destruction. According to Allured and Martin, swamps
symbolize as dark and chaotic places of the earth and marsh as a type of wet area that harbored
disease (p. 333). The importance of ascertaining the cause of the vanishing wetlands is to help
restore the wetlands and protect from a hurricane

Physical and Behavioral Responses to Starvation and Famine in Two Populations
Introduction
Famine is an event in which food and resources are inaccessible and the majority of a population is
endangered (Shipton, 1990). When applied to starvation this definition is accurate with one
additional idea: starvation is the result of inaccessibility to resources. Many factors contribute to the
progression of famine and the resulting starvation. One of the key factors to consider is the
delineation between naturally occurring and man made starvation and famine.
Naturally occurring famine is the result of agricultural or environmental causes such as lack of
rainfall or poor soil conditions. Man made famine is the deliberate denial of food ... Show more

and analysis of starvation in human subjects and is commonly used for interpreting starvation and
famine experiences under less controlled populations and circumstances. The results of the study
filled the urgent need after World War II for information on the physical changes that occur because
of semi starvation and what approach should be taken in rehabilitating starving people. The
parameters in addition to continuous residence at the Laboratory of Physiological
Hygiene at the University of Minnesota included strict dietary controls during the three stages of
the study: a twelve week control, a twenty four week semi starvation, and a twelve week period of
restricted rehabilitation. The diet consumed during the semi starvation period reflected the diet
typical of European areas that had or were experiencing famine. The food proportions and diets
were adjusted to each subject according to body size and relative obesity (Keys et al.,
1950).
Detailed accounts of the physical responses of the subjects and morphology of the body as it
underwent nutritional restriction were included in the study. There was an average decrease of
twenty five percent muscle tissue and subcutaneous fat, which caused much of the body to become
atrophied. The bones of the upper torso (specifically the clavicle and rib bones) became prominent
as soft tissues diminished. Dental caries, an expected

Analysis Of The Vendetta By Guy De Maupassure
Whether to take revenge on someone is a choice many people will have to make at some point in
life. Some would say that while it might feel good to get back at a person who has wronged us, it
is not usually the right choice for an individual to make. Other people disagree and feel that getting
justice by any means is more important. Guy de Maupassant deals with this issue in his short story
The Vendetta, and the tone he develops throughout the text helps readers to see this central idea.
The story reveals that revenge requires time, effort and determination.

Since when things get destroyed often negativity occurs. Lastly one last phrase in the first page that
indicates a dangerous tone is when the ocean is being described. Maupassant wrote, terrible channel
to describe the ocean. The word terrible has a negative connotation that allows the reader to feel
uneasy that people live near that area. The environment being described gives off a dangerous
vibe. With doing so the Maupassant is able to tell the reader that future is less likely going to get
any better. The setting and the tone here is sending signals that bad things will happen and this
is what will lead to reader to soon figure out the unfortunate events that will occur. While in the
second part of the story the mother grieves over her dead son who has just been stabbed and
killed by a man that was carrying a knife. She calls it a death he did not deserve. Her grieve and
diction creates the hopeless tone that s understood by the reader in this part of the story. For
example a phrase to display this tone is my little one. The phrase creates a negative connotation, this
connotation creates the hopeless tone. The reader understands that the mom is talking to her son

The Lighthouse By Virginia Woolf
The purpose of a lighthouse is to serve as a navigational aid to shores or ports and to warn boats
of dangerous areas. To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf is a novel that teaches how one person
can affect the lives of people around them by, in a sense, shining a light on the person s specific
traits. In the novel, Mrs. Ramsay is one of the main characters that unfortunately does not make it to
the end of the story, but her presence is shadowed throughout the novel where she is not there
physically. Virginia Woolf
used the lighthouse as analogy for Mrs. Ramsay s existence in the first
part of the book and after her death during the third section of the book. Mrs. Ramsay s death
allows the reader to realize that she is the lighthouse that highlights and unifies her family and all
the guests during the time spent together at the Ramsay s summer home. Though Mrs. Ramsay
was the conjoining light that brought people together, Woolf decides to kill Mrs. Ramsay in part
two of the novel. During the moments of Mrs. Ramsay lighting, Woolf incorporates dark thoughts
that expresses a different side to the novel. Bitter and black, half way down, in the darkness, in
the shaft which ran from the sunlight to the depths, perhaps a tear formed; a tear fell... (p.32).
Woolf is reflecting on her perception of death and how she dealt with the thoughts of killing
herself. As for Woolf s own death, she left her house leaving behind a note to Vanessa Bell, her
sister, and a note to Leonard Woolf,

Soccer And Cultural Identity
Most people call me Colby, but on the field i m know as number 40. Soccer has been a part of my
life since I was 3, my 12 years of experience have influenced how I act, what I eat and most
aspects of my life like who I hang out with and what I dislike. In the United states especially,
sports are a huge part of everyone s cultural identity. With all this in mind I would call my cultural
identity a soccer game. It can change in a blink of the eye but is consistent through life.My family
is like the other players, education is like the field and my hobbies are like the ball.
Just like a game of soccer you have to depend on your teammates, I depend on my family just like
my teammates. Everyone has their own family traditions or gatherings but our family is a little
different. Although we celebrate every christian holiday the same as you, the way we do it is
unlike anything you ve seen. As teammates your goal is to go to every practice and game, my
family is exactly the same. Practices are like small acts of kindness like my aunt going to my
soccer game. No she didn t have to, but they always do it as an act of kindness. Practices can go
from helping someone move to go to a game. But the big stuff like the games are the holidays we
celebrate. For christmas all 22 of us gather at our aunt Miley s house. Everyone gets everyone a gift
so no one is left out. But first we eat a big breakfast together like a team dinner on my soccer team.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Critical Legal Studies
Analyse the strength of the Critical Legal Studies movements critiques of indeterminacy and
contradiction.
Critical Legal Studies: Critiques of Indeterminacy and Contradiction in Law
Critical legal studies comes under the umbrella term of critical legal theory along with such groups
as feminists and Marxist theorists. An influence can be seen from American Legal Realism in some
areas of critical legal studies. The scholars who work under this term have no general approach or
theory but instead consider a variety of critiques including those of indeterminacy and
contradiction. They tend to see the law as consisting of many contradictions which they believes
supports a status quo of some people being left disadvantaged by the law whilst others gain a
disadvantage. They believe due to this inequality that there needs to be a social change to improve
the system. Indeterminacy appears to be able to be split up into several smaller critical categories
and it is this critique which shall be dealt with first.
1.Indeterminacy
In similarity to American Legal Realists, Critical Legal Studies scholars believe that the rules that
are contained within statutes and common law are unable to establish an outcome in new cases
that come before the court . This is partly due to the criticism of indeterminacy they have based on
the idea known as legal reasoning.
Legal reasoning, according to Critical Legal Studies, is in fact nothing more than a manipulation of
abstract categories with no

Transcendentalist Utopia in Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry...
Of the scores of utopian concepts within the 1800 s, most remarkable of the influx was the birth of
Transcendentalism. The roots of their religious philosophy extend much farther back into American
history, but in essence, rests in the context of Unitarianism. It s origins also reach overseas to
Romanticism, from which they drew inspiration from. Transcendentalismwas an important
movement that shaped the course of American literature, it s assertions commonly taking shape in
novels, poems, short stories, and essays, the most famous of authors including Ralph Waldo
Emersonand Henry David Thoreau. Transcendentalists sought for their sentiments to be present in
the United States, to redefine man in response to the changing context of America. Since it s
emergence in the 1820 s, Transcendentalism had lasting religious, social, and political implications
on the order of society. Unitarianism had developed as a branch of the liberal wing of Christianity,
which had separated from the Orthodox Christianity during the First Great Awakening. Unitarians
value the hallmarks of Christian Enlightenment , and it s philosophy stressed the importance of
voluntary ethical conduct (Emergence of Transcendentalism). Yet, the Transcendentalists felt
something was absent in Unitarianism; the sobriety, mildness, and calm rationalism, failed to
satisfy the Transcendentalists whom yearned for a more intense spiritual experience (Emergence of
Transcendentalism). For Transcendentalists,

Comparison Between Indian Philosopher Bhart And Western...
Introduction: Here I want to show the comparison between Indian philosopher Bhartб№›hari and
Western philosopher Wittgenstein they deal with language and reality. According to them that
language and reality depend on individual, a person can conceive two types of relationships
internal and external. Actually what we think about it, language and reality are internally related is
to conceive language as necessary means of cognizing any reality. The world can be different than
what we perceive or describe and hence our language and reality are contingently related. One of
the greatest creations of Bhartrihar is about the relationship between wordand sentence. The word is
not arrived at by putting together the meaning of each word that constitutes it. Not does the
sentence as a whole have a meaning which can explain by the real meaning of words. On the other
hand, the meaning of sentence is invisible but may be explained by meaning of the real words that
constitute it. 20th century s most famous philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein famous for his two
treatises namely, Tractatus and Logico Philosopicus and other is Philosophical Investigations. His
Tractatus is best explained as a synthesis of the theory of truth functions and the idea of language is
a picture of reality. For Wittgenstein also, the meaningful unit is not a word but a sentence.
Bhartrihari and wettgenstain say that there is a public component in the meaning of a word; they
speak differently about the presence and the

The Odyssey by Homer
As society has progressed, composers have adapted and appropriated the archetypal quest so as to
reflect the values of the time s culture appropriately. This has been a necessary course of action, to
ensure their writing conveys the quest and its respective elements in a manner that will be
understood by the responder in the relevant time period. The texts The Odyssey(Homer 8th Century
BC), In the Shadow of No Towers (Art Spiegelman 2004) and The Picture of Dorian Gray (Oscar
Wilde 1890) have appropriated the archetypal quest in their respective time periods to reflect the
values of their context.

I wanted to sort out the fragments of what I d experienced from the media images that threatened
to engulf what I actually saw, and the collage like nature of a newspaper page encouraged my
impulse to juxtapose my fragmentary thoughts in different styles This quote from the author
enables the responder to develop further insight into Art s reasoning behind how he has structured
the comics, and why he chose to create them. The time period after September 11 in which the
comic was devised and then published was the beginning of a very invasive media presence. The
way in which the media dramatized its information, and bombard its audience with it, made it very
hard for one to distinguish between the facts of events, and the images the media would present us
with. This is very much evident in Art s somewhat satirical and cynical representation of the media.
Another theme that is prevalent throughout his work, is the idea that the government s ideas and
policies were heavily engrained into the American media. On one of his splash pages, he depicts
himself as a downtrodden writer, who is walking with his head down, his clothes and beard are
shown to be dishevelled. He says Despair slows me down, so I worry whether NYC, or I, will still
be around to see if my page was well printed . The use of several commas allows this to be read as
if Art is speaking aloud, these are thoughts being projected straight out, without pause or mental
editing. This gives

Greek and Roman Architectural Influences in Modern Society...
There are many imitations, and reproductions of Greek and Roman forms in the modern society of
today. Even though the times of the great Ancient Greek and Roman Empires have passed, people
of today are still able to honor their legacy with their long lasting influences on modern society
today, especially in architecture. If one just looks at today s style of buildings, they can see the
similarities between the two different time spans.
Back in the golden days of Greece, one of the top priorities to the Grecian people was how big and

Along came the Mycenaean Period after the Minoan Period, in 1500 BC. This mainland Grecian
society was very different from the Minoans. While the Minoans of Crete were laidback, these
Grecians were much more militaristic and practical, much like how the Roman Empire was, except
there were individual communities often warring with each other. Also, the Mycenaean cities
were dominated by gigantic citadels, or huge fortresses, that were strategically placed on ground
that was higher than the rest of the city, and were protected by massive walls that were made of
limestone, which were entered by a great set of fortified gates. There are some similarities
between the Mycenaean and Minoan people. Much like the Minoan palaces, the grand house for
the important members of the Mycenaean group had many large rooms that were built around a
central courtyard as well. The central courtyard had a distinctive feature called the megaron, which
was an elliptical hall that was used for both domestic and ceremonial purposes. It took up one side
of the courtyard and had a grand front porch and vestibule. Other than the megaron in the courtyard,
the only other difference between the two periods was that in the Mycenaean Period, the rooms of
the palace were much smaller and more compact, again resembling the practicality of Rome s
architecture instead of the grandness and beauty of Grecian architecture. (Reid 26)

I believe this is a step in the right direction for Aboriginal rights. It is crucial to preserve Aboriginal
history to create a just nation for Canada. As well, it is equally important to retrieve information

The Canadian government should allocate funding towards Aboriginal festivals, museums, and
other public events to educate all Canadians about Aboriginal culture and heritage, as well, this

Background Amylin and Salmon Calcitonin belong to the calcitonin family of peptides and have
high affinity binding sites in the rat spinal cord. The aim of this study was to functionally
characterize receptors for Amylin and Salmon Calcitonin in the spinal cord of rats. We assessed
the expression of c fos in response to intraplantar formalin in the lumbar regions of spinal cordin
conscious rats.
Methods:
Amylin (0.05nmoles) or Salmon Calcitonin (0.005nmoles) were administrated intrathecally) 10 min
before the start of formalin test. Antagonists were injected intrathecally 10min before the
administration of either of the peptides.
Results:
Two hours after formalin stimulation, rats pretreated intrathecally by either Amylin or Salmon
Calcitonin showed lower numbers of c Fos immunoreactive nuclei in their lumbar spinal cord as
compared to rats pretreated by saline. These effects were reversed upon co administration of either
of the Amylin antagonists AC187 or rat amylin8 37, but not rat О± CGRP8 37. Few cells with c
Fos immunreactivity were found in the lumbar spinal cord of rats two hours after i.t. injection of
saline, Amylin and/or Salmon Calcitonin. However, Fos like immunoreactivity was increased in
the lumbar spinal cord two hours after i.t. treatment of either of the antagonists AC187 and rat

today s society, companies transport foodto places which were difficult before to reach in other

These benefits are an advantage for food companies because it promotes their products to be more
attractive to the customer s eyes, and gives the chance for companies to sell in out of state cities.
Even if it is an advantage to food companies, many foods lose their nutrients when being processed
and chemically changed. The American Cancer Society stated that Food processing may also alter
foods in ways that might affect cancer risk. An example is the refining of grains, which greatly
lowers the amount of fiber and other compounds that may reduce cancer risk ( Food Additives and
Organic Foods ). Altering food has the potential of losing its natural nutrients which benefit our
health in fighting against other diseases. Science has being chemically changing the food

of its natural nutrients. Food additives change the structure of the food products; it makes the food

The Themes Of Space In Ibn Fadlan And The Land Of Darkness
Ibn Fadlan, in Ibn Fadlan and the Land of Darkness: Arab Travellers in the Far North, tends to
view space in terms of the people who inhabit the space and divides spaces based on natural
barriers. As you can see below, the most common words that Fadlan uses are river, wood, boat,
crossed, and people; with river at eighteen mentions; wood at ten mentions; and boat, crossed,
and people at seven mentions. Throughout his text, Fadlan discusses the people he meets in
foreign lands and their customs, beliefs, habits, and the lands they inhabit. In a section titled,
The cold of hell, Fadlan writes, We saw a land which made us think a gate to the cold of hell had
opened before us. When snow falls, it is always accompanied by a rough and violent wind. In
this country, when a man wishes to make a nice gesture to a friend and show his generosity, he
says: Come to my house where we can talk, for there is a good fire there (Fadlan, 8). In another
section titled, Dressing for the cold, Fadlan writes, The local people, with whom we were on
friendly terms, urged us to be prudent as regards clothing and to take large quantities. They
made it sound very frightening and serious. When we saw the reality with our own eyes,
however, we realized that it was twice as bad as had been told (9). These are typical
representations that Fadlan gives of the the people and their customs, and the weather in the
lands he has traveled, but most of the descriptions of his travels from one place to another
involves his writing about natural, or topographic, barriers. When traveling from the lands of the
Khazars to the lands of the Bajanak, Fadlan does not explain sights that he saw between the two
lands nor does he describe the rulers of the two lands, however, he does mention the river that
divides that two lands. Fadlan states: We rode until we came to the river Yaghindi. Our people got
out folding boats made of camel skin and stretched them out, [...] then they filled them with clothes
and baggage, and, when they were full, a certain number of men [...] sat in each boat. [...] We
crossed the Yaghindi in the way we have just described, then a river called Jam, also by means of
these boats. Then we crossed the Jakhsh, the Udhil, the

Techno trash (or e waste) is one of the negative impacts of new technology. It is the rubbish created
by discarded electronics. Developed countries such as the U.S export 50% to 80% of their techno
trash to poorer Asian countries. The discarded technology is processed by workers who do not have
the right equipment to handle and safely recycle these tech materials. This puts the workers and
community to high levels of toxic materials, which could turn towns and the surrounding area into
contaminated dumps. The e waste that isn t transported to Asia ends up in local landfills and poses
risks to the surrounding environment and communities. Technology is made up of a mixture of
dangerous chemicals. The toxic chemicals can cause serious damage to the environment. Some of
these chemicals include beryllium, cadmium, lead and

Gloria Anzaldua Speaking In Tongue
There are many flaws in society that people have just accepted and decided not to fight for, but
oppressed female writers and nationalist groups have taken a stand against them. Author Gloria
Anzaldua expresses in her letter Speaking in Tongues: A Letter to Third World Women Writers, the
battles she has encountered as a Chicana, gay woman, the opinions she has of our world and how to
overcome the difficulties she and other third world women writers have experienced. Aside from
her, nationalist movements such as the Chicano and the Young Lords Movements were created to
fight against the social oppressions, Mexican Americans and Puerto Ricans, minority groups have
had to live under. Despite the fact that Anzaldua limits her discussion to that... Show more content

This can show a certain way of wanting to assimilate to something that already exists, which
Anzaldua would argue with. Anzaldua believes in women having their own voice, she is not
looking to fit in the world of the white writers society accepts, she is looking for others to accept
her own writing and accept the community she belongs to with the characteristics she identifies
with. It all differs in the way they act and how radical they want their effects to be. Analyzing
Anzaldua s letter, one would agree with the fact that her feeling of need is one more revolutionary
that echoes that of the Young Lords. She invites the mujeres de color, companions in writing
(Anzaldua 165), to find the real voice within them and to show it, not to work through what
already exists but to create a new category where they can all identify. Anzaldua invites her
compaГ±eras to not feel oppressed by those that are accepted by society, to not let their own
expectations condition them (166). The way Anzaldua fights and argues on what she deserves, is
seen in action with the nationalist movements who have pride of their culture and themselves as
human beings and want to be identified and accepted equally by the American society and not just
as the

Nashville s Public Square Park
Looking for a place to have an amazing time? A place where you can rock out one day? A place
where you can show support for various causes? Or just a place to spend hours of your afternoon
watching the sunset? If so, Public Square Park, located at 10 Public Square, Nashville, Tennessee,
should become a priority destination. Nashvilles Public Square Park is leaking with love, music,
and memories. Indubitably, from the vigils to the protests, endless love can be discovered
throughout the 200,000 square foot park. Candle lit ceremonies are held to honor people who lost
their lives in tragedies by releasing hundreds of lanterns into the night sky, for events such as the
following: remembrance of the mass shooting in Orlando, the attacks... Show more content on

On these days, it is no surprise to be the only one in the park apart from the random groups of
people passing by or an individual playing with his/her dog in the lush green grass. Even though
there are several areas of grass around the park, the most immense section is located in the center of
everything. This area is incredibly emphasized because of how everything revolves around it; if
anyone was to sit right in the middle of it, he/she would be engulfed by the relaxing atmosphere.
Sitting there would permit anyone to see buildings a hundred times his/her size in any direction he
/she would turn. For instance, someone can see the well known AT T skyscraper, also known as the
Batman Building, which is more than thirty stories tall. At the bottom section of grass, there are
two art structures; the art structures seemingly match the configuration of a human from torso to
head, but unlike actual humans, these structures are transparent. Containing various colors of lucid
lights inside the figurine, the color of the lights depends on the day. Unlike actual people, these
statues have one arm raced at all times, pointing horizontally to the side. Around each art
installation, there are four stone benches surrounding them for people to sit on. When one walks
past both structures, to the South, one will find a black marble reflection pool containing water to
stomp in, used by children and many adults. Because of the smallness of the runway and the need
for some coolness, especially on summer days, many will start splashing in the fountains located at
the southern part of the park. The water seems to go to an anonymous beat because of its altitude
going from short to tall, one step at a time. Ultimately, the most known instrument of the park is the
observation deck, made by two tan towers

Dumbbell Movement Analysis
Best 3 Steps of Dumbbells You Have to Try to Move
Add some varieties of your ascending routines and pursue these challenges that must be tried with
dumbbells.
I m Performix athlete Andy Spell, and today I m going to take you through three challenging
dumbbells. Be prepared to reverse the basic curl of the head to the standard trumpet rebate and
throttle outside the comfort zone.
These dumbbell exercises are a bit unconventional, but when you test your posture and give your
core exercise, they aim at your entire body. let s start.

I call the first practice as a bat wing. If your gym does not tilt the bench, there is no sweat; by
stacking a few boards on the floor to support the end of the flat bench to do your own thing.

Essay On Irish Immigration
Just recently, over 4 million immigrants came to the United States from Europe. According to A
Library of Congress Book: Immigrants, By 1890, New York City alone will have twice as many
Irish as Dublin... and as many Germans as Hamburg. Over 75% of the immigrants are from Ireland
and Germany. Now, since it was obviously not a coincidence that 4 million people were added to
the United Statespopulation so quickly, you wonder what the reasons were behind their large
movement. The Irish had the motivation to move when, in the mid 1840s, a potato blight, caused
the famine. The late blight , which is, according to Britannica.com, a disease of potato and tomato
plants that is caused by the water mold, Phytophthora infestans, that occurs in humid... Show more

They viewed the United States by its offer of greater economic opportunity. They thrived for
more freedom from government control and left Germany to find that. Most of the German
immigrants came to mid western states and became farmers. Those who were not hired as
farmers were anything from tailors to servants to clerks to food merchant at Urban Centers. In
my opinion, our country is populated enough and we do not need people from other countries
joining in now. There is a reason that Germans are called Germans, and that Irish are called Irish.
It is because of the fact that being a German is because you are from Germany and same with
any other country. As long as we are staying in our country, why must others leave theirs? We are
called Americans because we are from America and everyone else gets their title because of their
nationality, place of birth, or simply where the family originated. This could also cause problems
for our country with a largely increasing population. If you think about it, you realize that if our
country doesn t change with the new population, folks may have to either build new homes or
move in with residents of the area. People have different ideas but this can seriously cause major
issues for our country. I am not sure that the United States would even be considered as our country

Analysis Of Six Degrees Of Separation
Six Degrees of Separation Review Within the architecture of theatre, every showing of a play is
different from the last, and no one showing will be the same as the next. Six Degrees of
Separation was performed in the Harriet Fulton Theatre at the University of Tennessee at Martin on
November 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th. I observed the playduring its only matinee performance on
Sunday, the 5th. The play was set in a flat above Central Park in New York City, 1900. Written by
John Guare, Six Degrees of Separation centers around the complexity of classism, sexual
promiscuity, and the ideology that no matter an individual s societal status, one is only separated
from another human being by the course of six people and in finding the right six... Show more

When more than one or two actors were conversing at another location , they were shoved into a
small, solid black rectangle of the stage that was supposed to represent whatever section of New
York they were placed. I did not like this aspect at all. They could have split the stage in half
between the outside locations and the apartment of Ouisa and Flan to better accommodate the
scenes that made no sense of being held in their apartment. The play begins with a couple, Ouisa
and Flan, performed by Erin Criswell and Mark Connell, discussing academic knowledge over a
few particular pieces of artwork with an interested buyer: Geoffrey, acted by Dillion Davis. To be
frank, the beginning made very little sense to me. Stylistically, I do not place blame on the actors
as I believe that Guare intended the start of the production to be confusing for the audience as to
emphasize the separation between the upper class and the generally, middle class audience that
would have observed this play. By not knowing the words brought forth by the actors, I was
immediately perplexed and separated from the aristocratic lifestyle presented before me.
Theatrically, I do believe pronunciation could have been articulated more and believe nervousness
got to a few of the actors as they stumbled over lines and their words flew

  • 2. My View On Public Speaking From Bob s Anthem During your lifetime, you would be thrown many bricks. Many of them you would be able to build a castle to show your success, but some of them can destroy your hard work. Unfortunately for me, I thought that COMM 101 was going to destroy my life. I hated the thought of presenting in front people. In many circumstances, I wish this class was not required. However, since the first day of class, I began to have a feelingthis class was not going to be like the rest. Bob, my professor, did not want us to address him by his last name. He had also given all of us Burger King Crown, and to this date I still wonder where he got a large amount of them. If you are willing to get past your fears, you will be able to succeed in a communicationclass. In all honesty, there were three main components that made me change my view on public speaking from Bob s anthem, My Personal Belief , to the informal presentations, and the formal presentations. I have never had a class where a professor had made an anthem for their students. Anthems can be used as a celebration or it can act as empowerment for the people. Bob s anthem went like this, I believe in myself. I can do anything I put my mindto. I have a personal power that guides me to create EVERYTHING that is good. My inner voice is my best GPS. It guides me and I trust it. The only thing I have to do is spread my wing and soar. I AM DESTINED FOR GREATNESS! It was a class necessity to say My Personal Belief in the beginning ... Your associates delivered beyond expectations, and she ended up returning the product to your competitor and purchasing from you because of it. So I visited your store while I was in town (Cumming, GA). I m impressed with the store layout, the service, and the quality of retailing, in general. And being an outdoor/sports enthusiast, the positive experience resonated with me. I did more research after returning to the Raleigh area, and I m excited to learn that you re opening a store nearby. ABOUT MY RESUME I have enormous respect for tradition, but occasionally it creates barriers to success. As you walk the streets of Downtown Victoria it is hard not to notice the beautiful Eurocentric inspired buildings that make you feel as if you are touring an old city in Europe. Although many of the more unique buildings are small, they display plenty of character through their colours, shape and materials. I took a sunny afternoon to take a walking tour of Downtown Victoria and there were various buildings that gave me different feelings as well as having my mind make connections to buildings I ve seen elsewhere. First being 560 Yates Street s Oriental Building, where I was reminded of a New York Citystyle apartment which was short, made of rustic red brick, displaying rounded window followed by having that tinted brown giving it that old and dirty look. Then there was a sudden switch as I came across 1675 Douglas Street s Terasen Gas Building. The Terasen Gas building was very generic and modern office looking building. This type of building was one where if you came across a photo of it, you wouldn t be able to pin point where it came from, meaning it could be anywhere in the world. The last and top favourite building that struck out to me was Centennial Square s City Hall building. This building was my favourite for various reasons one being able to capture that Eurocentric feel that happens to be one of my favourite styles of buildings. . All around the world, rivers that are culturally and economically important are being polluted. Three examples of this unfortunate phenomena are the Ganges River in India, the Han River in Korea, and the Hudson River in the United States. Hindus consider the Ganges to be the goddess Ganga personified. They believe that bathing in the river is cleansing, resulting in the forgiveness of sins and salvation. All people, it is believed, should experience this sacred river at least once in their life. Many important festivals take place along the banks of this river. The Ganges River also irrigates a large area of farmland, where rice, sugarcane, lentils and wheat are grown. Unfortunately, the Ganges River has been polluted by sewage, trash, food, and human and animal remains, and industrial waste. • 15. Theme Of Nature Vs Nurture In Frankenstein In Frankenstein, Mary Shelley explores the argument of nature versus nurture. The conflict of nature versus nurture is displayed throughout the Gothic novel and in the development of the characters. When looking at an argument such as nature versus nurture, the side one may want to assume is difficult to find. Mary Shelley displays points in the novel to allow the reader to see both sides of the argument, giving each side valid points. The shifts in tone and mood when nature is displayed shows an immediate nurturing factor in the novel. The shifts allow the story to keep pace, and not become to stagnant. The display of character development with a lack of nurturing shows that without nurturing, humans are still able to develop with a sense of integrity. Mary Shelley displays the theme of nature vs. nurture immediately with the development of Walton in the letters. • 19. Theme Of Materialism In A Perfect Day For Bananafish A marriage between a man and a woman is scared. You vow to have and to hold, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do us part. This is the conflict seen in the short story, A Perfect Day for Bananafish by J.D. Salinger. We are provided with Muriel Glass, the wife that disregards her vows and is more into materialism than the importance of Seymour Glass, her husband and his emotional well being upon returning from World War II. In this story materialism as I am using it, is the meaning of being so consumed in physical appearance or the acquisition of wealth, accompanied with the appetite of material possessions, rather than with spiritual values. We see the illustration of how the personality of being materialist versus on one that relies on emotional wellbeing clash and collide. Obtaining a personality like the one of Muriel generates a blindness to what truly is important in life, especially in a successful marriage. Focusing on the Muriel Glass as the main issue, we see a numerous amount of evidence as to why she is so self centered. Most important so incredibly into being materialist that she totally ignores signs that her husband needs her emotional support through this tough time. The first signs we see to prove that Muriel is into physical appearance is on page three where J.D. Salinger writes, She washed her comb and brush. She took the spot out of the skirt of her beige suit. She moved the button on her Saks blouse. She tweezed out two freshly surfaced hairs in her mole. With that we get the knowledge of someone who is definitely vain. We now know that Muriel uses up her time to look impressive and make sure she is clean cut. Another critical sign that she is very object orientated is on page eleven during, the telephone conversation with her mother in which she states, You remember that awful dinner dress we saw in Bonwit s window? ... She had it on. And all hips. (Salinger) The indication from this is that she judges others based on what they are wearing. Virginia Woolf used the lighthouse as analogy for Mrs. Ramsay s existence in the first part of the book and after her death during the third section of the book. Mrs. Ramsay s death allows the reader to realize that she is the lighthouse that highlights and unifies her family and all the guests during the time spent together at the Ramsay s summer home. Though Mrs. Ramsay was the conjoining light that brought people together, Woolf decides to kill Mrs. Ramsay in part two of the novel. During the moments of Mrs. Ramsay lighting, Woolf incorporates dark thoughts that expresses a different side to the novel. Bitter and black, half way down, in the darkness, in the shaft which ran from the sunlight to the depths, perhaps a tear formed; a tear fell... (p.32). Woolf is reflecting on her perception of death and how she dealt with the thoughts of killing herself. As for Woolf s own death, she left her house leaving behind a note to Vanessa Bell, her sister, and a note to Leonard Woolf, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Soccer has been a part of my life since I was 3, my 12 years of experience have influenced how I act, what I eat and most aspects of my life like who I hang out with and what I dislike. In the United states especially, sports are a huge part of everyone s cultural identity. With all this in mind I would call my cultural identity a soccer game. It can change in a blink of the eye but is consistent through life.My family is like the other players, education is like the field and my hobbies are like the ball. Just like a game of soccer you have to depend on your teammates, I depend on my family just like my teammates. Everyone has their own family traditions or gatherings but our family is a little different. Although we celebrate every christian holiday the same as you, the way we do it is unlike anything you ve seen. As teammates your goal is to go to every practice and game, my family is exactly the same. Practices are like small acts of kindness like my aunt going to my soccer game. No she didn t have to, but they always do it as an act of kindness. Practices can go from helping someone move to go to a game. But the big stuff like the games are the holidays we celebrate. • 28. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Critical Legal Studies Analyse the strength of the Critical Legal Studies movements critiques of indeterminacy and contradiction. Critical Legal Studies: Critiques of Indeterminacy and Contradiction in Law Critical legal studies comes under the umbrella term of critical legal theory along with such groups as feminists and Marxist theorists. An influence can be seen from American Legal Realism in some areas of critical legal studies. The scholars who work under this term have no general approach or theory but instead consider a variety of critiques including those of indeterminacy and contradiction. They tend to see the law as consisting of many contradictions which they believes supports a status quo of some people being left disadvantaged by the law whilst others gain a disadvantage. They believe due to this inequality that there needs to be a social change to improve the system. Indeterminacy appears to be able to be split up into several smaller critical categories and it is this critique which shall be dealt with first. 1.Indeterminacy In similarity to American Legal Realists, Critical Legal Studies scholars believe that the rules that are contained within statutes and common law are unable to establish an outcome in new cases that come before the court . This is partly due to the criticism of indeterminacy they have based on the idea known as legal reasoning. Legal reasoning, according to Critical Legal Studies, is in fact nothing more than a manipulation of abstract categories with no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The roots of their religious philosophy extend much farther back into American history, but in essence, rests in the context of Unitarianism. It s origins also reach overseas to Romanticism, from which they drew inspiration from. Transcendentalismwas an important movement that shaped the course of American literature, it s assertions commonly taking shape in novels, poems, short stories, and essays, the most famous of authors including Ralph Waldo Emersonand Henry David Thoreau. Transcendentalists sought for their sentiments to be present in the United States, to redefine man in response to the changing context of America. Since it s emergence in the 1820 s, Transcendentalism had lasting religious, social, and political implications on the order of society. Unitarianism had developed as a branch of the liberal wing of Christianity, which had separated from the Orthodox Christianity during the First Great Awakening. Unitarians value the hallmarks of Christian Enlightenment , and it s philosophy stressed the importance of voluntary ethical conduct (Emergence of Transcendentalism). Yet, the Transcendentalists felt something was absent in Unitarianism; the sobriety, mildness, and calm rationalism, failed to satisfy the Transcendentalists whom yearned for a more intense spiritual experience (Emergence of Transcendentalism). • 30. Comparison Between Indian Philosopher Bhart And Western... Introduction: Here I want to show the comparison between Indian philosopher Bhartб№›hari and Western philosopher Wittgenstein they deal with language and reality. According to them that language and reality depend on individual, a person can conceive two types of relationships internal and external. Actually what we think about it, language and reality are internally related is to conceive language as necessary means of cognizing any reality. The world can be different than what we perceive or describe and hence our language and reality are contingently related. One of the greatest creations of Bhartrihar is about the relationship between wordand sentence. The word is not arrived at by putting together the meaning of each word that constitutes it. Not does the sentence as a whole have a meaning which can explain by the real meaning of words. On the other hand, the meaning of sentence is invisible but may be explained by meaning of the real words that constitute it. 20th century s most famous philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein famous for his two treatises namely, Tractatus and Logico Philosopicus and other is Philosophical Investigations. His Tractatus is best explained as a synthesis of the theory of truth functions and the idea of language is a picture of reality. For Wittgenstein also, the meaningful unit is not a word but a sentence. The time period after September 11 in which the comic was devised and then published was the beginning of a very invasive media presence. The way in which the media dramatized its information, and bombard its audience with it, made it very hard for one to distinguish between the facts of events, and the images the media would present us with. This is very much evident in Art s somewhat satirical and cynical representation of the media. Another theme that is prevalent throughout his work, is the idea that the government s ideas and policies were heavily engrained into the American media. On one of his splash pages, he depicts himself as a downtrodden writer, who is walking with his head down, his clothes and beard are shown to be dishevelled. He says Despair slows me down, so I worry whether NYC, or I, will still be around to see if my page was well printed . Even though the times of the great Ancient Greek and Roman Empires have passed, people of today are still able to honor their legacy with their long lasting influences on modern society today, especially in architecture. If one just looks at today s style of buildings, they can see the similarities between the two different time spans. While the Minoans of Crete were laidback, these Grecians were much more militaristic and practical, much like how the Roman Empire was, except there were individual communities often warring with each other. Also, the Mycenaean cities were dominated by gigantic citadels, or huge fortresses, that were strategically placed on ground that was higher than the rest of the city, and were protected by massive walls that were made of limestone, which were entered by a great set of fortified gates. There are some similarities between the Mycenaean and Minoan people. Much like the Minoan palaces, the grand house for the important members of the Mycenaean group had many large rooms that were built around a central courtyard as well. The central courtyard had a distinctive feature called the megaron, which was an elliptical hall that was used for both domestic and ceremonial purposes. It took up one side of the courtyard and had a grand front porch and vestibule. Other than the megaron in the courtyard, the only other difference between the two periods was that in the Mycenaean Period, the rooms of the palace were much smaller and more compact, again resembling the practicality of Rome s architecture instead of the grandness and beauty of Grecian architecture. The aim of this study was to functionally characterize receptors for Amylin and Salmon Calcitonin in the spinal cord of rats. We assessed the expression of c fos in response to intraplantar formalin in the lumbar regions of spinal cordin conscious rats. Methods: Amylin (0.05nmoles) or Salmon Calcitonin (0.005nmoles) were administrated intrathecally) 10 min before the start of formalin test. Antagonists were injected intrathecally 10min before the administration of either of the peptides. Results: Two hours after formalin stimulation, rats pretreated intrathecally by either Amylin or Salmon Calcitonin showed lower numbers of c Fos immunoreactive nuclei in their lumbar spinal cord as compared to rats pretreated by saline. These effects were reversed upon co administration of either of the Amylin antagonists AC187 or rat amylin8 37, but not rat О± CGRP8 37. Few cells with c Fos immunreactivity were found in the lumbar spinal cord of rats two hours after i.t. injection of saline, Amylin and/or Salmon Calcitonin. In a section titled, The cold of hell, Fadlan writes, We saw a land which made us think a gate to the cold of hell had opened before us. When snow falls, it is always accompanied by a rough and violent wind. In this country, when a man wishes to make a nice gesture to a friend and show his generosity, he says: Come to my house where we can talk, for there is a good fire there (Fadlan, 8). In another section titled, Dressing for the cold, Fadlan writes, The local people, with whom we were on friendly terms, urged us to be prudent as regards clothing and to take large quantities. They made it sound very frightening and serious. When we saw the reality with our own eyes, however, we realized that it was twice as bad as had been told (9). These are typical representations that Fadlan gives of the the people and their customs, and the weather in the lands he has traveled, but most of the descriptions of his travels from one place to another involves his writing about natural, or topographic, barriers. When traveling from the lands of the Khazars to the lands of the Bajanak, Fadlan does not explain sights that he saw between the two lands nor does he describe the rulers of the two lands, however, he does mention the river that divides that two lands. Our people got out folding boats made of camel skin and stretched them out, [...] then they filled them with clothes and baggage, and, when they were full, a certain number of men [...] sat in each boat. • 46. Essay On Irish Immigration Just recently, over 4 million immigrants came to the United States from Europe. According to A Library of Congress Book: Immigrants, By 1890, New York City alone will have twice as many Irish as Dublin... and as many Germans as Hamburg. Over 75% of the immigrants are from Ireland and Germany. Now, since it was obviously not a coincidence that 4 million people were added to the United Statespopulation so quickly, you wonder what the reasons were behind their large movement. The Irish had the motivation to move when, in the mid 1840s, a potato blight, caused the famine. The late blight , which is, according to Britannica.com, a disease of potato and tomato plants that is caused by the water mold, Phytophthora infestans, that occurs in humid... They thrived for more freedom from government control and left Germany to find that. Most of the German immigrants came to mid western states and became farmers. Those who were not hired as farmers were anything from tailors to servants to clerks to food merchant at Urban Centers. In my opinion, our country is populated enough and we do not need people from other countries joining in now. There is a reason that Germans are called Germans, and that Irish are called Irish. It is because of the fact that being a German is because you are from Germany and same with any other country. As long as we are staying in our country, why must others leave theirs? We are called Americans because we are from America and everyone else gets their title because of their nationality, place of birth, or simply where the family originated. This could also cause problems for our country with a largely increasing population. If you think about it, you realize that if our country doesn t change with the new population, folks may have to either build new homes or move in with residents of the area. People have different ideas but this can seriously cause major issues for our country. I am not sure that the United States would even be considered as our country ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Analysis Of Six Degrees Of Separation Six Degrees of Separation Review Within the architecture of theatre, every showing of a play is different from the last, and no one showing will be the same as the next. Six Degrees of Separation was performed in the Harriet Fulton Theatre at the University of Tennessee at Martin on November 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th. I observed the playduring its only matinee performance on Sunday, the 5th. The play was set in a flat above Central Park in New York City, 1900. Written by John Guare, Six Degrees of Separation centers around the complexity of classism, sexual promiscuity, and the ideology that no matter an individual s societal status, one is only separated from another human being by the course of six people and in finding the right six... When more than one or two actors were conversing at another location , they were shoved into a small, solid black rectangle of the stage that was supposed to represent whatever section of New York they were placed. I did not like this aspect at all. They could have split the stage in half between the outside locations and the apartment of Ouisa and Flan to better accommodate the scenes that made no sense of being held in their apartment. The play begins with a couple, Ouisa and Flan, performed by Erin Criswell and Mark Connell, discussing academic knowledge over a few particular pieces of artwork with an interested buyer: Geoffrey, acted by Dillion Davis. To be frank, the beginning made very little sense to me. Stylistically, I do not place blame on the actors as I believe that Guare intended the start of the production to be confusing for the audience as to emphasize the separation between the upper class and the generally, middle class audience that would have observed this play. By not knowing the words brought forth by the actors, I was immediately perplexed and separated from the aristocratic lifestyle presented before me. Theatrically, I do believe pronunciation could have been articulated more and believe nervousness got to a few of the actors as they stumbled over lines and their words flew ...
