There is no doubt that education is one of the most important
factors in a person’s life. University education, in particular, plays a
great role in a student’s life. Some students get university education in
a big city like Istanbul and Izmir whereas some others study in a small
city. When compared to each other, the lives of students in big
cities and small cities have both similarities and differences.
(Thesis Statement)
To begin with, there are several similarities between these two lifestyles.
The life of a university student in a small city resembles that of a university student in
a big city in terms of social activities. For instance, both students can go out with their
friends to the movies or theater after school. Another similarity between these two
students’ lifestyles is education expenses. Both students have to pay high tuition if
they study medicine or dentistry because some departments are expensive no matter
where students study. In short, similarities can be seen between these two lifestyles.
Despite similarities, the two lifestyles vary greatly. Living costs seem to
be the primary difference between the lives of university students in big cities and
small cities. To illustrate, those in big cities have to pay higher rents and spend
more for shopping whereas those in small cities can live with little money. Job
opportunities are another difference between these university students. In
spite of high number of job opportunities for students in big cities, those in small
cities can hardly find one. In brief, two life styles bear several differences.
All in all, lifestyles of university students in big cities and small
cities show both similarities and differences. It is likely that taking everything
into consideration, students should choose the best for themselves.
