In the Framework of TRANSFIERE 2015 (http://www.forotransfiere.com/), the Enterprise Europe Network is organizing a Company Mission on Smart Cities and Communities in Malaga.
The Company Mission will consist on three main activities:
1.- Networking sessions: B2B meetings: participants will have the opportunity to publish their cooperation profiles and meet with the participants to discuss possibilities for cooperation.
2.- Technical Visits: a visit tour to the main smart enclaves in the city of Malaga. These visits will be hosted by the main representatives of the entities visited.
3.- Conferences and Workshops, structured under two main forums: International Innovation forum and the Spanish Technology Platforms forum
Please find attached additional information on the company mission. Feel free to send this material to all of your clients.

6. Technical Visits : Zem2all
The city of Malaga launched the international Project Zem2All (Zero Emissions Mobility to All), a four year
programme with a budget of 60 million Euros, thanks to which the new services and advantages of electric
mobility have been introduced on a large scale.
The project is directed by Endesa on the Spanish side of the project, at the same time it counts on the
support of Telefónica and Ayesa, and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries leads the Japanese part, together with
their associates Mitsubishi Corporation and Hitachi. This is being done with the support of NEDO* (New
Energy and Industrial Development Organization) and CDTI* (Centre for Industrial Technology Development)
as well as the collaboration of Malaga City Hall.
The objective of Zem2All is to implement a real-life scenario of electric mobility by means of our services as
the management of recharging, the double directionality of the burden (V2G) from the network to the vehicle
and vice versa, the services of rapid charge situated strategically, and all of this, globally interconnected.

7. Technical Visits : Malaga SmartCity Project
The Malaga Smartcity Project, directed by ENDESA, represents the most important European enterprise as an
eco-efficient city. Its objectives are to increase energy efficiency, reduce CO2 and increase the consumption of
renewable energy.
The area of Smartcity Malaga covers 4 km2 in the Malaga area of the Misericordia beach, and includes 11,000
domestic customers as well as 1,200 industrial customers and services.
A consortium of 11 firms, led by Endesa, is deploying the latest generation technology in this area in smart
metering, communication and systems, automation of the network, distributed generation and storage and
intelligent infrastructure of the loading of vehicles. This area has about 11MW of renewable generation, which
includes photovoltaic roofing distributed throughout the city, cogeneration, vertical axis wind turbines and
integrated generation in luminaires.
The aim with Smartcity is to fulfil the European guidelines for the energy sector to stimulate efficiency, the use of
renewable energy and advanced networks with storage capacity.

8. Technical Visits : EMASA Cogeneration Plan
The cogeneration plant of energy production of EMASA consists of a plant of thermal drying of mud.
EMASA applies thermal drying to the residues that remain after treating waste water, and therefore
obtains a very important reduction in volume of mud and then the heat generated by the generation plant
of electric energy can be used in the same heating system.
The treatment of thermal drying is carried out at a low temperature and has a capacity of over 7 tn/h.
Energy efficiency consists of a single cycle with four engines using natural gas or biogas produced at the
WWTP and has a total power that can produce 10.000 kW. On the other hand, the tertiary treatment,
where part of the purified water is submitted to a process of regeneration or tertiary treatment, by reason
of which water of sufficient quality is achieved to guarantee its possible reuse, in agreement with the
legislation in force. Tertiary treatment has a capacity of 34.560 m3/d, of which 21.600 m3/d is set aside
for industrial use and the remaining part for irrigation of green areas. Treatment is physical-chemical,
lamellar sedimentation, sand filtration, ultra-violet disinfection and then ultra-filtration.

9. Technical Visits : EMASA Smart Meters
Since 2003 EMASA has been working towards the development of a system of “Telecontrol of Drinking Water
Networks in the municipal field”. This system consists of the remote control of the whole system of water
distribution, and communicating it electronically to the final users through the centre of control and management,
by means of standard elements that once transformed or reconfigured, imply a low cost to set the whole network
functioning. This is also a system that is compatible with other types of distribution, such as gas, fuel oil or other
products like electricity.
This system consists of developing a system of measurement and control of a metropolitan network of
distribution, using the latest technology in this matter. The network terminals control peak flow meters and open
close valves. The system receives measurements of flow of the measurement systems, meters, from the users
and from a set of additional measurements in the distribution network.
The measurements obtained will enable programming the filling of the deposits as well as the detection and
localization of losses, thus correcting the closure of valves on the spot. In the same way the whole line of outlet
of information is extended to provide other ONLINE services to users and suppliers, Intranet and extranet, by
means of Internet, Television, and mobile telephones and other means of communication.
