3. WHAT IS COMMUNITY BASED REHABILITATION
(CBR)?
“A strategy within general community
development for the rehabilitation,
equalization of opportunities and social
inclusion of all pepole with disabilities”

4. WHAT IS DISABILITY?
Disability is any condition that makes it more
difficult for a person to do certain activities or
interact with the world around them.Thase
conditions or impairments, may be
cognitive,developmental,intellectual,
mental, physical,sensory,or combination of
multiple factor.Impairments causing disability
may be present from birth or occur during a
persons lifetime.

5. WHAT IS REHABILITATION?
The process of helping a person who suffered
an illness or injury restore lost skills and so
regain maximum self-sufficiency.
For example rehabilitaion work after a stroke
may help the patient walk and speak clearly
again.

Mainstreaming and inclusion is seen as an
effective way:

16. STEPS OF CBR
 Identification of person requiring
rehabilitation service.
 Assessment of disabilities.
 Provide basic service such as drugs,
dressing, materials, protective foot wear,
counseling and training in self care.
 Introduce the person to village health
committee.

18. WHOS CBR MATRIX
 The community based rehabilitation matrix, which
was described in the introduction, consists of five
components (HEALTH,EDUCATION,LIVEHOOD,SOCIAL
and EMPOWERMENT) and their associate elements.
It provide basic framework which can be used to
develop new CBR programme.
 The CBR matrix give an overall visual representation
of CBR. The matrix illustrates the different sector,
which can make up a CBR strategy.
