This blog collects information about victims of Cyclone Nargis in Indonesia, Thailand, Burma, Bangladesh and India from 2008 to raise awareness of their needs and how they have survived in the two years since. Cyclone Nargis caused catastrophic damage and over 138,000 deaths in Burma. International aid efforts were slowed as Burma's military government resisted aid and international criticism of its response. While requesting UN help, the government remained resistant to basic assistance and delayed visas. Political tensions raised concerns that supplies could expire before aid was accepted.
