Thank you to all attendees at the World Economic Forum Family Business Owners Event in Gstaad last week who participated in our Communications Workshop on Effective Communications with stakeholders - a big challenge for some family-owned business. This slideshow is intended to introduce art students to propaganda techniques and devices so that they can then create their own poster with the theme "Save the Arts". This is part of a webquest assignment to have the students be act activists for their art program and get the message to the Nevada State legislators to Save the Arts by continuing to fund the program.

“Building relationships isn’t optional in fundraising, it’s inherent in the definition of what fundraising is.”
One cannot overstate how important the concept of ‘relationship fundraising’ is to fundraisers. Since Ken Burnett coined the term in his 1992 book the idea has become one of the dominant modes of thought about fundraising. Yet there is still little agreement among practitioners about what relationship marketing actually is, what a relationship approach might mean for the way we steward our relationships with supporters and crucially, whether it even works.
We’re proud to have partnered with world renowned fundraising expert Dr Adrian Sargeant, technology provider Bloomerang and Rogare, a world-renowned think tank for fundraising, to sponsor groundbreaking research by Dr Adrian Sargeant, Jen Shang and Rogare’s director Ian MacQuillin.
By answering eight key communication questions, this insightful presentation provides communications considerations that can make a difference for those seeking to effectively close "the last three feet" with their audience.

MSU Science Communication Student Group TalkJohn C. Besley
This was January 2018 brief talk focused on some key ideas that new(ish) science communicators may wish to consider as they get started on developing their own plan for public engagement/communication.
The 2011 Content Marketing Strategies Conference (contentmarketing2011.com) had some amazing speakers and lively conversation. This is one great example. Continue the conversation at twitter.com/content2011
An invited talk given to a group of neuroethics researchers. The focus of the discussion was how we might think about the likely outcomes of engagement activities. This is similar to some previous talks but also includes some new bits and pieces that reflect our continued effort to work through these ideas. Appreciated the chance to share.
Do we really listen to what people tell us, and do we offer an environment where people will tell the truth? Taking into account another’s perspective is essential to navigate through the communications minefields. Brenda Hales, with contributions from Donnie MacNicol, explores the complex world of words.
Our shared human experiences are the true connection points between our art and our audiences. The opportunity for conversation lies in our willingness to share these stories with each other, utilising the digital tools that are enabling us to do so more easily and more widely than ever before.
In this thought-provoking and practical workshop session, Vicki Allpress Hill will facilitate a discussion about ways that we can invite, curate, create and distribute digital content in the form of text, images, video and audio in order to share our stories, and those of our audiences, opening the way for conversation as a result.
Vicki will draw on her current work in the area of content marketing with arts organisations here and internationally to present examples of the ways artists and arts organisations are now using digital content to generate audience engagement. As part of this session, you will participate in a creative brainstorming session with your peers to unearth the stories that exist within and around your own organisations.
If you are responsible for developing website, social media, video, email, media or publication content in your organisation, and/or your role is focused on audience development and engagement, this session will be of interest to you.

2. 1: Share a Vision
Communication for fundraising is
effective, sustainable and ethical
when it is aligned with mission &
vision…
3. ‘(fundraising) is proclaiming what you believe
in, and proclaiming it in such a way that you
offer the other person an opportunity to
participate in your vision’.
