3. WHAT IS THE 4TH INDUSTRIAL
REVOLUTION ?
• A fundamental shift in how we live, work, and interact with one another
• With amazing technological advancements comparable to those of the first, second,
and third industrial revolutions, it is a new chapter in human development.
• In this presentation we will be talking about Devices used for communication and
how they changed this world for the better.
4. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
AIM: Through the application and use of technology in industrial operations and
communication, the engineering department's communication should be improved.
OBJECTIVES:
• To implement technology into industrial processes in order to improve worker’s
communication across different geological spaces.
• To improve employees' performance by offering efficient and effective
communication channels.
• To enable real-time communication and quick responses to possible risks in order to
decrease accidents and enhance safety.
• To maximize return on investment while staying within a certain budget.
5. TECHNOLOGY FOR
COMMUNICATION
• Give employees access to mobile devices (smartphones or tablets) for immediate
communication and information access.
• Establish a reliable and secure digital communication system that supports file
sharing, video conferencing, and real-time texting.
• Use devices that are wearable, especially in noisy locations, to facilitate hands-free
communication (such as smartwatches or headphones).
• Install cameras and microphones in strategic positions to allow for communication
and remote monitoring.
• Set up a notification system to inform staff members of potential dangers and
critical situations.
6. SUPPORTING WORKER’S
PERFORMANCE
Worker’s performance could be improved by:
• introducing training programs to educate employees about new communication
technologies and encourage successful application of them.
• Creating a central knowledge base that is accessible via the online platform for easy
access to pertinent information and instructions.
• Promoting open communication channels and offer rewards for reporting near-
misses and safety issues to promote a community of cooperation and safety.
7. REDUCING ACCIDENTS
• With the aid of the new developed technology under the forth industrial revolution
,it has helped reduce accidents. The Usage of real-time data monitoring and
analytics to predict maintenance and potential safety hazards, allows early response.
As a result the number of accidents decreases.
8. OVERCOMING COMMUNICATION
BARRIERS
• Physical Noises: The use of noise cancelling technology in communication devices
and the placement of microphones and speakers strategically to reduce noise
interference.
• Physiological Impairment: To accommodate employees with hearing or vision
impairments, provide flexible communication devices and interfaces.
• Psychological issues: Promote open communication, a positive work environment,
and fast resolution of any issues with behaviour.
9. BUDGETARY REQUIREMENTS
This project will require approximately R700,000 which will cover the cost of purchasing
and installing digital communication equipment. The breakdown of the budget is as
follows:
• initial investment in hardware and software for digital communication - R120,000
• Purchasing of wearable and mobile communication gadgets such as cell phones, smart
watches and etc - R200,000
• Continuous servicing and communication system improvements - R100,000
• Workshops and training initiatives for employees to promote effective technology adoption
- R100,000
• Setting up and maintaining the required gear, including cameras, microphones, and other
devices - R180,000
10. EQUIPMENTS REQUIRED
• High-definition video conference
• Virtual reality headsets
• Instant messaging platforms
• V.O.I.P(Voice over internet phones)
• Cameras
• Internet access(Wi-fi routers)
11. CONSTRAINTS AND
RECOMMENDATIONS
• Budgetary Restraints: Give priority to tools and technology that are necessary for
communication and safety. Look for affordable solutions, and if necessary, consider phasing
in the adoption.
• Technological Restrictions: Select dependable and scalable technologies that fit the
demands of the department by conducting in-depth study and pilot testing. To take
advantage of technological improvements, examine and upgrade the system frequently.
• Adoption and Training: Allocate enough funds for workshops and training programs to
guarantee that employees are knowledgeable about the new communication technology.
Keep an eye on adoption rates and continue to offer assistance and direction.
• Data Security: To protect private communications and data, put strong cybersecurity
procedures in place. Update and patch systems frequently to stave off any dangers.
12. CONCLUSION
In conclusion, the proposed project aims to integrate technology into industrial
operations to improve communication amongst workers, enhance performance, and
reduce accidents. The selected technology will make digital connections for
departments and provide a platform for virtual collaboration. The project budget and
equipment requirements have been outlined, and possible constraints and
recommendations have been provided. This project will go a long way in supporting
the performance of workers and reducing accidents in the workplace.
13. COMMENT
The Engineering Department hopes to change worker performance, increase safety,
and re-create communication in industrial processes by putting this initiative into
action. The suggested technological integration will enable easy communication
across geographic boundaries, reduce communication barriers, and give employees
the tools and resources they need to complete their jobs effectively and safely
