Greater Manchester Youth Network (GMYN) is a youth charity that creates
opportuniƟes so that disadvantaged young people from across Greater Manchester
(GM) can take steps towards a posiƟve future.
We support young people to be safe, valued and ambiƟous by delivering high
quality programmes and building the capacity of other youth organisaƟons.

In 2017, GMYN undertook a full rebrand and has recently developed new visual
communicaƟons tools, including embedded emails, e-flyers and social media assets, all of
which are underpinned by a new communicaƟons strategy and brand guidelines. In July
2018 GMYN was named as a finalist in the Best Social and Digital Media category at the
North West Charity Awards.
Our current CommunicaƟons Officer is moving on to take up a management role and we
are looking for a new creaƟve individual to lead the next stage of our comms development.
Role ResponsibiliƟes:
CoordinaƟon
• Coordinate and plan all external communicaƟons for GMYN and develop tools that
support the staff team to promote their work
• Work with the Business Development Manager to coordinate internal systems,
communicaƟons and develop quarterly comms plans, in line with the GMYN
CommunicaƟons Strategy
• Lead GMYN’s online presence including social media (LinkedIn & TwiƩer), monthly
newsleƩer, press releases and campaigns
• Ensure GMYN is up to date and engages with relevant online sector news
• Providing ongoing communicaƟons, advice and support to the GMYN staff team
• Respond to general enquires via email
Content & Design
• Develop tools (e-flyers, flyers, social media assets, key messages) and new campaigns
to support the promoƟon of all of our youth led programmes
• Produce copy and create press releases to promote new programmes, campaigns and
organisaƟonal updates
• Produce young people led case studies to externally showcase the impact of GMYN’s
work
• Produce social media content and deliver online promoƟon; and to photograph and/
or film at events when required
• Contribute to the GMYN newsleƩer for signed up members
Quality Assurance
• Support the Business Development Manager in maintaining a high quality level of
external communicaƟons in line with GMYN brand guidelines
• Evaluate the success of external communicaƟons using analyƟc tools
• To ensure all communicaƟons are in line with GDPR, data protecƟon and safeguarding
policies
General
• Carry out any other reasonable duƟes and responsibiliƟes that contribute to GMYN’s
overall aims and objecƟves

The hours of work are those necessary to fulfil the requirements of the role. This will
involve occasional unsocial hours during evenings/weekends as well as during the day.
