Geppetto the woodcarver carved a puppet named Pinocchio. That night, the Blue Fairy brought Pinocchio to life and told him he could become a real boy if he was brave, truthful, and unselfish. She also assigned Jiminy Cricket to be Pinocchio's conscience. Pinocchio went on many adventures, getting into trouble but also learning lessons along the way. In the end, after rescuing his father Geppetto from the belly of a whale, Pinocchio proved himself brave, truthful and unselfish and was turned into a real boy by the Blue Fairy.
